http://portal.opera.com/discover/ - ie8fan, on 10/08/2008, -0/+15Opera is the **best** browser!!
- HigherLogic, on 10/08/2008, -1/+15Still the fastest, most lightweight, standards compliant, feature-rich browser available. Best Internet Suite available :)
- mattcoxonline, on 10/08/2008, -0/+12Loving that you now get previews of RSS feeds and that Opera Link synchronizes my search engines and typed history!
- commentbot, on 10/08/2008, -0/+11Way ahead of competitors, Opera has been my default browser for a few years now :)
- wannarto, on 10/08/2008, -0/+9as usual, every Opera release is just wonderful and innovative.
Feed Preview, Opera Link, Low Bandwidth Mode, etc. etc.
I think Opera handles technology better than most browsers out there.
it is sad that such a great browser is always behind Firefox, Safari, and IE on market-share
(and next it will be behind Chrome as well)
I think they should market it better. - RyomaNagare, on 10/08/2008, -0/+9Don't forget to mention the new mail features, like low bandwidth imap, and the new intel only mac builds.

(and let's get this to front page so more people see it) - Dhekke, on 10/08/2008, -1/+7I've used Opera for a long time, but mainly as a second browser.. but since 9.5, it took the #1 spot from FF.
It's probably just me, but FF just seems outdated, somehow (and don't get me wrong, I really like Firefox) - mloras, on 10/08/2008, -1/+6Best Browser !
بهترین مرورگر - lilmoder, on 10/08/2008, -1/+5Great success!
- AlphaBronco, on 01/25/2009, -0/+4I am looking forward to the day that Opera can sync contacts data and mail/chat/news account settings.
Ever since the Opera link feature debute, I have been loving the notes feature. I use it extensively, and it helps my scatterbrain keep track of lots of information that I come across. The notes are all search-able too, so I can find what I'm looking for easily, huzzah.
Now if they could just upgrade the mail client to match gmail and build in gpg support, and I'd be content. - aleksod, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4Shweeeeeeet!
- sfury, on 10/08/2008, -1/+5I like it too, but it's doomed to be my perpetual back-up browser - even when compared without add-ons, Opera seems light years ahead in speed and responsiveness of the interface. I love this browser - it's simply blazing.
- fearphage, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3even more changelogs:

Thanks Tamil.
For those following the desktopteam blog, this is the same build as 9.6 RC2 for *nix and windows. Only mac users need to grab this official copy.
I hope this finally clears the platform for peregrine (Opera 10?). - sfury, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3I dug you up, but I hope you're not secretly cursing in persian. ;) (google can't translate it yet)
- Tamils, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3Why this username?
- ktswami, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3It's called, "right-click on blank area", and "block content." DONE. (And no add-on migration hassle to worry about when Opera v9.7 or Opera v10.0 comes out.)
Where's Browser Sync for bookmarks, nicknames, custom search engines, typed history, Speed Dial, Notes? Heard someone's browser sync got discontinued. Whoops. Does it sync on a mobile browser yet like Opera? Thought so. I heard it's coming by 2010. - AlphaBronco, on 01/25/2009, -0/+3urlfilter.ini provides the same functionality. Always one of the first files I drop into my opera userdir after a fresh install.
http://my.opera.com/Tamil/blog/ad-block - sfury, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Finally they sum all the features in a presentable and easy to understand way!
I really hope this will make some difference especially for people that get IE preinstalled and have never thought there is another browser. Spread it to all your friends, encourage them to give Opera a try and they'll never come back. :] - Pattty, on 10/08/2008, -1/+3Woohoo! I'm going to update now! Opera RO-O-O-O-OCKS!!
- RyomaNagare, on 10/08/2008, -1/+3One good step forward towards capturing new users its the page http://portal.opera.com/discover/
the page teaches new uses how to take advantage of opera's unique features. - fearphage, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2"most lightweight"
From the article: "Allen makes clear that his test is not scientific since he used different sites to test each different browser."
He didn't even use the same pages so everything was variable. I mean I could load flat-file.html in one browser and then digg comments in the other and I would expect to see major differences. This article should have been called how I wasted some time running ff, opera, and safari.
"standards compliant" - Opera and Safari are always neck and neck when it comes to standards support. Opera supports more SVG for instance but Safari has more extensive CSS3 support. I don't think there is a clear winner between the two. Firefox however is way behind in this regard.
I have to agree with your fastest and feature assertions. - inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2I like Opera on my PC... too bad it´s a bit sluggish on my Mac
- Shadow2531, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2I don't preemptively block ads, so I don't need the extra power of adblock. Opera's content blocker is enough.
The only time I block ads is on sites I frequent where the ads (flash for example) cause too much cpu usage and ruin my browsing experience. (I first try to contact the site first to see if there's something they can do about it.)
As for sites that I don't frequent, I'm not on them long enough to care. I have ad blindness anyway. But, if an ad is causing problems on one of these sites, I'll just *temporarily* block it.
The only reason I'd ever preemptively block ads is if I had to worry about bandwidth usage. - HigherLogic, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1When I had a Blackberry, I loved having Opera Mini on it. Now that I have an iPhone, I WISH Icould run Opera Mobile on it. The Safari browser on there just doesn't cut it...
- ray86, on 10/10/2008, -0/+1You basically save a text file (*.ini file) in your profile directory:
http://www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/opera/
It'll take less than a minute to do, and you manually update it ever 2 months or so (I update mine quite often but updating isn't a big deal). This has blocked 99.9% of ads for me since I began using it. - riverrunner, on 10/09/2008, -1/+2As good as it may be... How do you deal without Adblock Plus?
- skadd, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1Too bad it didn't reach the front page...
But Opera's time will come mwahahahahAHAH - Shadow2531, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1If http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYQ6jD8k4f4 was a commercial on television in the U.S., that'd be a good start.
- dzejdzej, on 12/17/2008, -0/+0Why isn't the Gmail displaying properly in this new release?
- nicomen, on 10/08/2008, -5/+3o/
- Darkhacker, on 10/08/2008, -9/+3"Still the fastest, most lightweight, standards compliant, feature-rich browser available."
Being an Opera article, I'd get dugg down for trying to contradict you, but I care more about facts than popularity.
fastest - http://arstechnica.com/journals/linux.ars/2008/10/ ...
most lightweight - http://www.webmonkey.com/blog/Firefox_Wins_Real_Wo ...
standards compliant - http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/09/26/webk ...
feature rich - Out of the box, yes. With Firefox extensions, not even close. - thegreatanti, on 10/08/2008, -14/+1*Yawn* No webkit enigne = instant fail. Boo.
