- einfeldt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is an amazing example of what ONE person can do, thanks to the Internet. Ben and I have been active together on the OpenOffice.org OOo discuss email list. That's where he and I met. The OOo community had been discussing something like this for some time, but somehow, we could just never get it going. Then, it seems, Ben just woke up one day and said, "let's do this," and he just contacted a bunch of people, and they jumped on the bandwagon.
If you would like to know more information about Ben's project, I interviewed him here at Mad Penguin magazine:

I'm really grateful to Ben for his enthusiasm. He stands to gain nothing out of this project. None of the money goes to him. He is a young recent Harvard grad (urban planning, or something like that) who is struggling to pay of his college loans, and now he does something like this, too. So please support Ben's project!
I'm a lawyer, and I use OpenOffice.org in my law practice every day. OOo has really come a long way, and is ready for the prime time. Ben's timing is really good with this project. - Irimi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The ad design is sexy.
- tdonvito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, the new design looks great. The first one was only a draft to get people involved in the project. I think this ad campaign has rekindled interest in promoting open source software.
- bhorst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Many thanks to the Spread Firefox community for their support, for inspiring this effort, and for their excellent web infrastructure! (The linked story is a blog post on the Spread Firefox site.)
Please take a look at our new, professional ad design at http://homepage.mac.com/bhorst/
It's a major improvement over the initial draft! - wedderburn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow much better than the clashing yellow one with mount rushmore on it
