- PunkRampant, on 12/19/2007, -3/+88Does anyone else have the problem of Digg perpetually loading until you click Stop?
- ptFoe, on 12/19/2007, -0/+47A lot faster than 2 in rendering web pages. Nearly as fast as Opera. But with the wide array of addons (extensions) Opera lacks.
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 12/19/2007, -4/+50If you were already using the Beta for Firefox 3, you'll be prompted to do an update, just like with normal Firefox 2 updates. I've already received the prompt and updated myself, it looks good.
- comrade693, on 12/19/2007, -4/+38Um, Mozilla can handle the Digg traffic, so why would you get it from a third party? Besides, that only has the windows version available...
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -0/+24That's bull. The performance improvements are extremely noticeable. A large portion of the FF userbase are computer savvy. If you were talking about IE, you'd probably be right, because 99% of IE users open up their browser, check their mail and then close it. I'm exxagerating but you get the point :)
- MattJF317, on 12/19/2007, -4/+23Nice new Mac theme for the new beta too (Not compatible with Beta 1)
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/605 ... - EvilDude, on 12/19/2007, -2/+20The location bar when you start typing in beta 2 is ugly. Larger fonts and it uses 2 lines. I hope they find a balance between information shown and the amount of space used by that information.
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -2/+20Holy smokes! Beta 2 renders lightning fast!!!! Beta 1 was about the same was FF2 and the alpha releases were a little slow. I was starting to get worried that FF3 wasn't going to be all it's cracked up to be. I was wrong. Geez. Now I have high hopes for the finished product.
- kleverness, on 12/19/2007, -1/+17Do not know why but that's also recently happening in Firefox 2 too... maybe a digg problem?
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -0/+15That sounds like something Dwight would say, from The Office.
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -0/+15Now if only I could get Digg to stop infinitely loading in this version of Firefox
- Vician, on 12/19/2007, -0/+14It happens to me wether or not I have Adblock Plus installed, waving chickens, or dancing on one leg and chanting. Digg just really likes to load... a lot.
- stefilini, on 12/19/2007, -1/+14I am.
- Reziarfg, on 12/20/2007, -1/+14It's official because Mozilla released it. It's a beta because it's not ready yet. What's there not to understand?
- maexus, on 12/19/2007, -1/+14Well yea, it's a beta.
- shatters, on 12/19/2007, -0/+13yes, it's annoying
- GoatBn, on 12/19/2007, -6/+17why are you all digging him down? That is a helpful link...
- tyywebb, on 12/19/2007, -3/+14Stop cloggin mah tubes!
- Protoss, on 12/19/2007, -1/+12This theme is pretty terrific, except it has the tab close buttons on the right instead of the left side, which really goes against any other browser on OSX.
- Bramus, on 12/19/2007, -0/+10Check that start page when the beta first launches: http://flickr.com/photos/bramus/2122643710/
erm ... :S - maexus, on 12/19/2007, -0/+9Yea, it's a bug and some people are saying it's related to the javascript on the site.
- vault, on 12/19/2007, -0/+8Yeah I do too, though I thought that was an Adblock Plus issue.
- Nalin, on 12/20/2007, -0/+8I am running Firefox 3 Beta 2 with three windows. First window has three tabs. Second window has five tabs. Third window has two tabs. So, three windows and ten tabs. The private working set is 106,476 K at this time. It keeps changing. In the time it took to type this, it has fallen to 105,560 K. The commit size is 137,092 K. Firefox has been open all day long. More than 12 hours. Conversely, the latest version of Pidgin (2.3.1) has a private working set of 9,628 K and a commit size of a whopping 187,048 K.
I really enjoy this latest beta. It loads fast and displays pages fast. I really can't wait for it to be finished. BTW, these numbers come from a computer with 4GB RAM and running Vista Business x64. It may obviously be different on your computer. The easiest thing to do would be to just download it and try it. It installs to its own directory so it won't conflict with any existing versions of Firefox. - XBSHX, on 12/20/2007, -2/+10Its the second beta, thats not exactly "early".
- Vician, on 12/19/2007, -3/+10A... oh what's the saying... ***** ton of ***** people? Probably more than use Gmail? Just like there's loads more than that on Hotmail. And, for that matter, even if I don't use it, Yahoo Mail isn't horrible if you're into that sorta thing.
- ungamedplayer, on 12/20/2007, -1/+8Why not ?
- Sraza, on 12/19/2007, -2/+9Nice, you have my hopes up. I moved to Opera just because of the memory leak at the cost of the add-ons. I hope someone running it for up to an hour can comment on it memory usage.
- Tyr7BE, on 12/19/2007, -2/+9Can anyone comment on the memory usage? I believe they were attempting to address that with the 3.x series, and I'm wondering if this was successful.
- Tyr7BE, on 12/19/2007, -2/+9So what? All the changes are under the hood. If they're making it better at rendering / lighter on memory usage / better standards compliance / whatever, that's fine by me. It doesn't need a brand new UI with every release, I think the current UI is pretty good.
- megadan76, on 12/19/2007, -0/+7Here's hoping for the Yahoo mail fix soon.
- cstaylor, on 11/12/2009, -0/+7It's happening to me, has been since Beta 1. I just ignore it, but if it were to get fixed, I would greatly appreciate it.
- mvent2, on 12/20/2007, -0/+6LOL, you made yet another account because everyone was blocking all of your other accounts.
- DarkDx, on 12/19/2007, -0/+6I have this problem in opera 9.24 too :(
- insertAliasHere, on 12/19/2007, -0/+6One large difference is dragging previews for Windows...it has done it for a while on mac. Highlight some text, and then drag it...it shows a preview of what you are dragging. Does it for pics too.
- mckirkus, on 12/19/2007, -4/+10Doesn't work with Yahoo Mail. Auto complete is way different. Plug ins don't work.
Acid 2 test... Pass! IE7 fails miserably.
Looks good but I'm waiting for the final. - moduc, on 12/19/2007, -0/+6
I hope this version renders pages and print pages well. I had to use Opera to printout 100 pages document because Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 b1 is too slow to render them, and way way slow of printing them out. Also, Opera can split page on table's td tag when print (must add CSS tag for this), versus Firefox print right in the middle of the text line. The printing of Firefox 3 b1 is also very screw up (text font mess up). I hope this fixes all that. On the printing of 100 pages html, Opera probably is about 50 to 1 faster than Firefox. Note that I am a Firefox fan, don't use Opera much (it's the 1st time I use it after many years, can't remember when), so no bias here. It's the fact. If you don't believe me, check it yourself. On Linux, Opera also can be unzip and run (just like Firefox). - Roger, on 12/19/2007, -1/+7Anyone know how to display tags in the Bookmarks menu?
Tags seem pretty useless so far... - inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5Fail for misspelling "BURIED."
- Toupee, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5Love the new location bar. Not quite perfect though - I wish it would search my bookmark names without necessarily having to have visited it recently. Love the lightning fast speed. Switching between tabs definitely seems faster, too.
A few other niggling bugs:
Tab Mix Plus, Smoothwheel, Foxmarks, Google Toolbar won't work at all.
And Tooltips don't show anything for me. That's about it. It's so tempting to keep using it but it's hard to leave those things behind... - praveenmarkandu, on 12/19/2007, -8/+13it is official fool.my firefox TOLD me to update
- swordedge, on 12/20/2007, -2/+7Fails the acid test.
http://www.webstandards.org/action/acid2/
passes the one that doesn't use data URLs
version without those
http://hixie.ch/tests/evil/acid/002-no-data/ - vault, on 12/19/2007, -1/+6Dugg your comment by accident...no it uses much less RAM. Before, leaving FF open overnight could get it well into the 400 mb+ range. Now that doesn't even push it over 200. Atm, it's using 93 mb and that's with digg and a few other tabs open.
- AaronMT, on 12/20/2007, -0/+5What is with that splash page when you launch the new beta?
Weird looking gradient and random robot. I thought I had spyware! - audi100quattro, on 12/19/2007, -0/+5From the release notes: Yahoo Mail, Windows Live Mail doesn't work, The malware protection blacklist is not currently activated, etc...
Still too many bugs and missing add-ons. - tempusrob, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28948
It's actually an issue with the Acid2 site rather than the browsers. - vault, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4I find it to be *much* better with memory usage, and on OS X with Proto it looks much nicer, too.
- mianus230, on 12/19/2007, -0/+4Only used it for an hour and i already love it
- wright3279, on 12/19/2007, -2/+6I find the bookmarks column confusing and too complicated. Also many extensions and custom buttons won't work. Also slower to print some web pages. Sticking with 2.0.0.11 for now.
- calon9, on 12/20/2007, -0/+4I'm sorry I took your confused.

What is Digg?
