- blacklotus135, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Troy, NY
- UCFMark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Looks like new imagery for part of Orlando, including the northern half (approximately) of the University of Central Florida main campus, which now shows several of the new buildings that have gone up since they last updated it- it looks like the imagery is from this past summer- but is still missing several buildings and features constructed on the southern side of the campus, including things that existed more than a year ago.
There's a clear line showing where the new imagery is- the tint of the colors is different.
Take a look: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&om=1&z=16&ll=28.601064,-81.198406&spn=0.015071,0.022702&t=k - PicklePower, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1McHenry, IL area appears to have been updated. Probably Chicago as well.

- lobsang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1South Florida (Miramar, Pembroke Pines & Miami).
The pictures they put are about a year old, or more. - phlogiston99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Portland OR jumped a few years ahead. sounds like thay are 1 year old now (vs 6 b4)
- i440, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Coastal San Diego County, California has new imagery, along with San Clemente, California.
- mikesimp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The rest of the Netherlands are higher resolution now, but look at this military airport which is blured out:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=52.128693,5.26803&ie=UTF8&z=14&ll=52.13059,5.261679&spn=0.035459,0.093641&t=k&om=1&iwloc=A- Tijmen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The marine base in the center of Amsterdam (few kilometers east of the central station) has also been blurred out for a while.
Update or no update, my house is still a construction site for google :( - Tijmen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Link: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=52.128693,5.26803&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=16&ll=52.373005,4.919407&spn=0.009707,0.027122&t=k&iwloc=A
- SimonDonkers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting, Army base Oirschot (Netherlands) also has been blurred out only Google forget the base is building new structures to the east of it which are fully visible.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=52.128693,5.26803&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=15&ll=51.471948,5.369353&spn=0.016253,0.053988&t=h - dustyshadow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know of another spot in the Netherlands that has also been blurred. They blurred the surrounding area as well that isn't sensitive, probably to hide the part that is.
- Tijmen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The marine base in the center of Amsterdam (few kilometers east of the central station) has also been blurred out for a while.
- frank4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The scope of this update is just getting bigger. Here is the current list (based on new places being found and reported by readers): States of CA, TX, NH, CT, NC, GA, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Japan. Read the blog for links to specific regions or towns updated.
- frank4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Another reader just reported that the entire state of Montana is now in high-res including the Glacier National Park:

I can hardly wait to see this in 3D in Google Earth... - caldroun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I see that Google earth has my house photo now, so I believe that it is updated too. Previously, my house wasn't in either.
- Kittenality, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I found the updated Google Earth just about the time you did, Caldroun, and have been playing with it for the better part of an hour and a half now. I live in Alaska and noticed that most of the places I'm familiar with still have the same photos as the old maps; most are crystal clear - even close up. I haven't checked other places for newer maps yet.
But there are some new features I'm pleased with. It has a nicer navigating interface with a cleaner look. One feature I've been playing around with is Add Image Overlay. I go ATV'ing quite a bit and put my trails into my Garmin. These I transfer to various Topo map programs. I am able to create jpegs of these maps and can now bring these maps into Google Earth. Now I see my waypoints and trails overlaid on the Google Earth maps. Pretty neat!

- pixelguru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a shame the update to the coast of Maine doesn't quite make it to Acadia National Park.
- TheoDork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I STILL CAN'T SEE MY HOUSE!
- neave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Google Maps is utterly useless unless I can see my house from above.
No really. It's the most important feature by far.
- neave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Google Maps is utterly useless unless I can see my house from above.
- soopah256, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1damn. i still can't see my house yet either.

- manumitx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http//local.live.com still has the best images for the orlando florida area because they got ah old of local "bird's eye view" images.
- fatmike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Portions of Florida, especially around Miami in the Coconut Grove area have definitely been updated.

- ajskhan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3niether has Antarcitica
- yensed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Looks like I was Wrong! You can now finally see all of Astoria Oregon and Cannon Beach!! /Plans Goonies filming locations trip 07
P.S. Tho those are the only locations In oregon I've noticed.. And it still says I live 5 houses up the street in some kids treehouse... - jkleinfeld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3looks to me like Jerusalem and the old city has a much better resolution
- jswanner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Parts of central Florida has been updated. Including the northern half of the UCF campus
- roddanielson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Southern Oregon coast, no change.
- Plooo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes!! I can finally see my house.
- speezer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What's the deal with Mexico and Central & South America? Why aren't there any maps?
- mankyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3whoah, I can NO LONGER see my house... (or parents home, at is were.) I used to have great resolution of their home in Michigan. Now I get just a green wash that has no imagery available at the highest zoom:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&ie=UTF8&z=17&ll=42.938266,-85.591253&spn=0.005773,0.013433&t=k&om=1 - ahatter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7my town still looks like crap.
- ekiwi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Add Melbourne, Australia and parts of New Zealand to the list :o)
Small seaside town called Patea in NZ where they filmed the beach scene in 'The Worlds Fastest Indian' has great resolution for such a remote place. lol.- Talden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, as noted by one poster Whakatane has hi-res... Hamilton does not... My house is still a sad splotch indistinguishable from any of the adjacent splotches.
C'mon google stop dissin' Hamilton and gimme some more pixels. Let me guess, every day they tried to photograph the area it was foggy?
- Talden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, as noted by one poster Whakatane has hi-res... Hamilton does not... My house is still a sad splotch indistinguishable from any of the adjacent splotches.
- rockets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hi res eh? Show me the nudist beaches and I will believe....

- gweedo767, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Plainville, KS still looks like turd :(
- Farkle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Southern Maine is updated, too! YES!
- Sivart832z, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Northwest Vermont - including Burlington, Milton, Hinesburg, Huntington and more has new Hi-Res that appears to be from Mid-2004 that wasn't there a few days ago.
Southern Adirondacks of NY (Queensbury, Glens Falls area) also has newer Hi-Res imagery. - jbenson2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Several areas that I had placemarked have been downgraded substantially, so there is virtually no detail. Kettering, England is now a total blurr. I used to be able to identify the individual buildings. The same thing happened to the coast line along Malibu, California. Did the rich movie stars force a lower resolution?
But there are some new higher resolution versions in Munich, Germany.
WTFIGO???
. - ajskhan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hawaii update as well
- luczy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google earth has also been updated
- ajskhan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2no change internationally, india, etc.
- martalli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, portions of India were added in the last month or two, including a swath of Karnataka with the MaleMahadeshwara Temple and Martalli.
MaleMahadeshwara Temple

- martalli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, portions of India were added in the last month or two, including a swath of Karnataka with the MaleMahadeshwara Temple and Martalli.
- zakool21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Excellent!
Davis CA also has new images. Before, you couldn't even make out streets. Now I can see the tree in the front yard of my hosue.
Thanks for the heads-up!! - zixx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It looks like near the Tripoint of Maine, New Hampshire and Quebec now has some letters
- neave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1What is it with this stupid obsession of being able to see your house on Google Maps?
- tinkafoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just in case anybody asks, there's jack ***** in Oklahoma. :(
- martalli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe so, but the images of Tuttle are great. Maybe we could even get a look at Jerry Taylor's house.
- 2crz4u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The maps for Wilmington, NC are actually OLDER photos not newer. :-(
- LecherousVenom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sacramento, CA still has imagery that's at least four years old..... missing all kinds of development and freeway/onramps, etc.
- martalli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Staunton, Illinois is the same way. There has been a new clinic here for over a year, but these photos are probably 3-4 years old. At least they are much nicer than the blur of the towns further north.
- pixelmixer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This has aparently been going on for a while now. I noticed newer looking satalite views that are zoomed out to see mountains and such. It looks much cleaner now. I think the first time I noticed this change was wednesday.
- ahirreddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As far as I can tell the Long Beach, CA and surrounding area has not been updated. The new houses built 2 years ago still have not been updated.
- bitbank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very strange - the images of South Florida have been updated, but still with old images. The "older" image was from about 3 years ago and now the "new" image is from 18 months ago. I can tell the age because my development is still under construction. In the newest image my house still doesn't have roof tiles, yet I moved in about 14 months ago.
- shadowsurfr1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can actually see my house now, and my school's construction project is shown as completed. I've been waiting a while for this. Sweet.
- LRKirsch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In what city?
- Deuterium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1BIAP still doesn't show any circus tents.
- LRKirsch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hanford, CA has new images, but you have to zoom out a few notches. It's still an enormous improvement.
Clovis, CA is still at least a couple years old, judging by my parents' backyard.- Doogie125, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks like Hanford's updated photos might be from the Labor Day weekend. (My car isn't usually in the street.) The updates to this area are used for Google Earth as well.
- MrEcho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+192571 STILL not updated, this housing track has been here for over a year.
and 92530 - egingras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, whats your definition of high res?
- Disodium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bradenton/Sarasota/Ellenton Florida updated but pics are at least 6-8 months old from various construction i know was done for awhile inclduing my sisters new house.
- clickmyface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just an FYI: My experience with the NEW yahoo maps is that they have more high res than Google does, even with Googles update. Check it out, I was happy to see my area.
- toxicredm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rochester, NY has been updated. They actually show the new soccer stadium and the new Troup-Howell bridge under construction. Still waiting for the arches over the Troup-Howell bridge though. Looks like they are from about a year ago.
- BicBall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nassau county, NY has been updated, the pictures are at least 6 months old though.
