- stisaac, on 10/12/2007, -4/+132You know what's better? Greasemonkey script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/1807
- gmprunner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33So pointless, yet so tempting...
Just like The View. Minus the 'tempting' part. - AshTR, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25Greasemonkey script is better, doesn't slow down Firefox, and it has more mirrors besides Duggmirror like Coral and Google Cache.
stisaac's comment FTW - yourmightyruler, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25Not really, because that orange is a nice contrast from the blue, and you see the duggmirror better. It makes sense.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Wait, Dugg = past tense. *ed = past tense. dugg+*ed = past + past........ i forgot where i was going with that.
- mercurysquad, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Sorry, it should be:
javascript:document.location.href = document.location.href.replace('digg.com','duggmirror.com'); - TekeeTakShak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Hmm.....I noticed that after I got this, my front page "Friends who dugg this" thing wasn't working.
Anyone else getting this? - yum9me, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10There is a Greasemonkey script that does that. No having to restart your browser and doesn't effect the loading of Digg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The only thing I find slow on digg is the search. But thats why God made Google.
But i do like the monkey script better. - JeffP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7you are right, i was going to install this plugin but then i thought to myself,
"man if i do install this, i'll probably have to restart my browser..."
on a side note, the load time difference is negligible - crash013, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Would be better if it matched the links on digg like the comments link.
- tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8The Greasemonkey script is way better.
It fits in the website better.
It works on ALL borwsers. (That have a GreaseMonkey like add-on, Thanks Maxthon!)
It does not slow Digg down at all. - iamafatguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I may be drunk, but I agree with jaxxon. Why can't this just be built into digg. I have enough addons allready.
- deetank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Already using the greasemonkey script.
- shtef, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Extension is stupid. Greasmonkey script is not needed. All you need is to copy this script to your bookmarks toolbar folder: javascript:window.location.href=window.location.href.replace('digg', 'duggmirror');
If you are not sure how check this page http://cyber-knowledge.net/blog/2007/01/07/one-click-duggmirror-cache-page-with-javascript/ - Vergeh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6http://www.duggmirror.com
- ahknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Resurect Pages beats 'em both: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2570/
It isn't tied to one site and lets you get at *any* page that's not working, not just one linked from Digg/Slash/Fark. - Javlington, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3We had this topic on Digg before, in one of the comments. Actually, you should replace 'digg.com' with 'duggmirror.com' instead of 'digg' with 'duggmirror' - to prevent i.e. "The secret of Digg" in a headline being changed to "The secret of Duggmirror".
- mercurysquad, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Duh. Make a 'bookmarklet' which is something like: javascript:document.location.href=document.href.location.replace('digg.com','duggmirror.com');
Will work in any browser. - MonkeyFarts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"diggTM is a trademark of digg.com; this site (duggtrends) is neither affiliated with nor would have existed without digg.com"
I would imagine that has a lot to do with it. - freejimmypage, on 12/13/2007, -0/+2I can only think of one candidate that will pull our troops out of foreign countries and make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen here again. You know who I'm talking about.
- fiver22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Maybe I'm missing out -I have yet to try greasemonkey. I've installed this add-on and think it's usefull but maybe I should check-out greasemonkey. Any feedback on why greasemonley is better/or more usefull would be welcome, Thanks.
- Trel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is this extension compatable with Seamonkey or is it strictly Firefox?
- kevin_ou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Edited: stisaac beat me to the punch
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/4128 - interiot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As the bottom of this very page notes, "DIGG, DIGG IT, DUGG ... are the trademarks of Digg Inc.". I'm guessing the extension should have named itself something different.
- hudson99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm not surprised you forgot, past+past was was a long long time ago
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Hmm, this makes Digg even slower. :(
- 3seed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this extension rocks, the placement and colour rocks, and the page loads as quickly as it ever did, - how fast does anyone *need* digg to load, anyway? it's not 9-1-1, it's infotainment! way too many people get off on finding trivial ***** to complain about -"you mean i have to (shudder)RESTART my BROWSER??? where will this madness end?!?"
damn crybabies... - t3hNinj4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thank you. I've been using this script for a while, but I had an earlier version with MirrorDot instead of DuggMirror. This one's a lot more useful.
- JohnTheJohnMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this greasemonkey script will do the same thing but places a digg style link to the left of the bury button instead of the ugly green image net to the title like the other gm script. looks a lot better. http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/6937
- jamesvaughn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Americans are concerned how much of our attacking Iraq is to merely allow private companies to loot their oil wells and to also profit for providing the arbritrarily high-priced military equipment and services. VP Cheney himself has 433,000+ shares of Halliburton stock and stands to become a billionaire by this war. America is losing favor in the world because we are no longer even pretending to not be a country which sits in idle consumer bliss while the current leading group plunders foreign countries under the guise of spreading democracy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3God didn't make Google. Let me Google who made it...
- sputza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@mercurysquad,
Thanks for that bookmark idea. Works great and doesn't slow digg down. - jaxxon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Why isn't this feature built in to Digg?
- coder316, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Digg isn't slow for me and I've got this firefox addon running now. Stop bitching.
- burndive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@mmilian
I suppose the magical extra CPU cycles that go into scanning the HTML of the website for a place to alter it come from the queen of Fairyland?
It's probably negligible, but it's not nonexistent. - FiveIron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Greasemonkey allows you to do things like this to different sites, like I have one that makes homestarrunner.com go fullscreen, one that removes the ugly styles people make on their myspace.
- nick34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Simple, and effective.
- yum9me, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Digg was made to redirect the traffic to the source website, not host the story and keep traffic away from the article source.
- kday, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have created a greasemonkey script a while back that adds link to google cache, dugg mirror, and has a preview window that shows the article within the digg interface. I could add more mirrors (such as coral cache), but I haven't got around to it. My code is sloppy and bloated, but the script works as intended. I don't know how to use xpath's very well, so that is probably what makes the code bloated.
Here is my script: http://kylesfiles.dreamhosters.com/duggmirror.user.js - humanchimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1An upgrade which gives you the option to change the font colour, the positioning of the text, and an option to open the link in a new tab is pending approval at the moment.
- ddb123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1After I install this extension when I move my cursor over stories that friends have dugg it no longer pops up with the name(s) of the friends.
Anyone else get this problem? - brundlefly76, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You can do this with a one-line bookmark:
http://digg.com/mods/One_Click_DuggMirror_Access_With_ONE_Line_Of_JavaScript
javascript:window.location.href=window.location.href.replace('digg', 'duggmirror');
Just click the bookmark on the digg article page. - grav80bong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Existing FF extension straight from duggmirror: http://duggtrends.com/duggmirror.aspx
Search for "install this extension" on the page...I've been using this for months, works great - g3r4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My only problem with the extension is the contrasting color. But otherwise I like it.
At least it doesn't have the annoying tendency to show twice on stories that I've dugg. (Greasemonkey, I'm looking at YOUR digg script...) - 3seed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1exactly!
...and you people are worried about whether the font colours match! - mojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been using this for a while too. Seems like no one knows about it.
- 3seed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
peoples is DYING! - mojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually I change my recommendation. This Resurrect Pages add-on kicks ass: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2570/
