- neoform, on 10/12/2007, -2/+55So, I can expect this to last.. what.. 3 months?
- Tuxbunta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+49"what more do you want?"
No waiting? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+48Just the fact you have to play "where's waldo" with the damn download link because its buried in all their damn advertisments.
- podgey22, on 10/12/2007, -2/+42And its already been taken out (well its running REALLY slow) by the digg effect. Lame.
If it cannot handle digg, its a null effort. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33Rapidshare is ***** I must say. I would rather use sandpaper to clean my balls then to host files on them.
- gdragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31Wow, that site is hosed. One of these days Digg is gonna get sued for creating a Denial Of Service attack. I hope no site (that gets crushed) tries that though.
We are not attacking you. We are just loving you very fast and hard. - leftfield, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28"We have only a few visitors now, so we are much faster!"
Not for long.... - kennon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28as their server grinds to a halt.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32Sweet, a new place to host my pron and warez. Sweet!
- Cbeck527, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28I hope its better than RapidShare
- fugazi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Is it s-a-f-e
- neoform, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22www.truecrypt.com
encrypt, upload. - burkay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21Lesson from digg:
Better things die faster. - tdhurst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18"We are just loving you fast and hard."
Hilarious. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24Bury Leo55, He's clearly a retard.
- steelmaverick, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23Rapidshare is a piece of *****. I wait 3 min to download something, then I get a thoughput of only 50 KB/s, on a 300 KB/s connection. At least with megaupload I only have to wait 45 sec and I get about 100 KB/s. That way I could download Borat at twice the speed.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18If that.
- tybris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15it's doomed
- podgey22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16What did you want them to say? "upload all your hate material and child porn NOW!!!"?
Don't be so naive. These places have to put these things up or it's even easier for someone to shut them down. - Phantom784, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I believe YouTube has rules against copyrighted material also. Look how much that's worked.
- podgey22, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14RS premium is the best download service I know. The free version does blow a little bit though.
But, back to premium, it let me download at 1.2meg/s (0.05meg/s slower than my 10mbps line capability)... I'd say that's pretty awesome. - colinm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15While TrueCrypt is a possible solution, it's not really the best tool for the job - you have to go about making a file system of the appropriate size, formatting it, mounting it, etc.
If you just want to password protect a single file, you can use GnuPG http://www.gnupg.org/
How to encrypt:
gpg -c filename
[enter your password]
Then an encrypted version is created in the same directory with a .gpg extension.
How to decrypt:
gpg filename
Enter password
Decrypted file is created in the same directory. - zionKing, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15(sic!)?
- IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17This is amazing. Dugg!!
- adidos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Hmmm, if their web servers can't handle a bunch of relatively small HTTP requests from all of the diggs they are receiving, how well are they going to be able to host my uploaded files? I wonder....
- bieber, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Dochtuir, do you still get payed if the comment is buried?
- adidos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12sic = thus so (it's Latin)
It means that if there is a spelling mistake or grammar mistake, the original writer made the mistake and not the copy/paster. I'm not sure why the poster used this either.
Shrug. Maybe he meant "sick!"? - coldphoenix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I'm pretty sure every upload site has the same disclaimer.
- consonance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Only the good die young.
- scelestus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9You're not allowed:

6. to upload materials created by another person or taken from another source such as another website, illegal, pornographic, copyrighted, etc. Copyright violation will result in termination of services for you and in possible criminal prosecution
So much for that. - Tuxbunta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Warning- Guy jacking off, and some chick walks in and out. He doesn't notice.
- tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hey Digg doesn't do Denial of Service attacks.... we do *Distributed* Denial of Service attacks
; ) - adidos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That #1 file (the Captured avi) is terrible...if anyone wants to go see a guy spanking it, go check it out. ::puke::
- Humptydank, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yeah, I didn't get that either. Am I, or my high school English teacher, missing something?
- forcedfx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is doomed to fail. It can't even handle Digg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dropboks owns whatever this place was. But you can't make your files Public.
- caffeinejunkiex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dear god, why has no one reported that file! And WHY is it #1?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Remember Kids, Don't Violate Rule Number 1
- fartingbob, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6podgey, if your gunna pay for a service like that, just get a good usenet provider. Then you have access to thousands of full DVD movies, games, music and pr0n with no limits. Beats the living ***** out of rapid share when you combine usenet with a good nzb service.
- TomFrost, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5[sic] is also used to denote that whatever was just said may be unbelievable, but is actually true. It was used very liberally in old texts (especially those originating from American colonial times) but has been pretty much phased out now. Kinda cool to see someone actually use it :)
- scelestus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That is true but there is a potential revenue model with YouTube which makes organizations slightly more hesitant to shoot themselves in the foot. This is just a file store.
- zointax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's already filled with warez, yeah.. this isn't gonna last long. And on a side note, has anyone seen the Top 25? There's some messed up stuff there. Take a look at the #1 (the Captured.... avi).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2lol that didnt last long
- IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Who gives a ***** of the ads? You're downloading from that site (i.e. the site is closed, only download window is opened) or uploading (i.e. the window is minimized), so the aesthetics don't really matter.
- podgey22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3>> fartingbob
I get usenet from my ISP. That does max out my connection =)
its just not as intuitive as RS is for sharing stuff between people. RS is hardly expensive for the amount of stuff you can shift off their servers when you have a fast connection. Its the people with the slow connections that lose out. - skored, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ummm - sounds good but:
Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at files-upload.com. - CharlesGriswold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"FTP (sic!)"
Trying to figure out why the "sic", I checked out www.acronymfinder.com. Among other entries, these stood out:
"[not an acronym] Latin: thus; so (not a mistake and is to be read as it stands)"
and
"Spelling Is Correct"
So we are to understand that either FTP really means FTP, or that FTP is spelled correctly. Umm . . . OK. Consider it understood. - sebnukem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The site says 1Gb, not 1GB... who's right?
- dubloe7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, if you need a REALLY small file to last a VERY short period of time.
- tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A lot of people who don't know the difference just say Gb. Gigabits are never used in storage terms, only bandwidth terms. I'm sure it's gigabytes.
