look at the first comment...i was one day off - sahaskatta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Firefox 1.5.0.6 should be available through "update check" soon,
but here are the links if you want to get it early anyways:

http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox:1.5.0.6 - jinexile, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Extension API doesn't change on the last version number so if your extensions worked in 1.5.0.0 they work in 1.5.0.1, 1.5.0.2 ... 1.5.0.6 it's ignorant extension developers that don't take advantage of the new versioning system that cause all the headaches, if they just set their maxVersion to 1.5.0.* these updates would be non-issue.
- CritterNYC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Firefox Portable, which runs from a USB flash drive, iPod or CD, has also been updated:
http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable - itanshi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11waddya know, they all work + one that wasn't working for .5, kudos regardless of my prior opinion ^^
- _Caboose_, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12It's officialy released on the site now: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
And the release notes: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/releases/1.5.0.6.html - chrisgeleven, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11The download count only counts new downloads, not ones via autoupdate.
- redxii, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Microsoft patented "patching the patch." Expect to hear from their lawyers.
- BeaMeR626, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11I was surprised to see such a small update. However this one is very much appreciated.
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9The article was submitted almost 13 hours ago, yet your half hour is wayyyy longer than that?
- gage006, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9The streaming video bug is something most people really didn't want to wait for 2.0 to have fixed.
- Dayz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7or a cookie?
- itanshi, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11aaah my poor plugins!! they haven't recovered from .5 yet!!!
meh i dun care, keep up the good work - mikechml, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I quote from above:
"The streaming video bug is something most people really didn't want to wait for 2.0 to have fixed." - ThinkFr33ly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Hit back? Give me a break. This is an example of extremely poor Q/A.
Can you imagine if Microsoft released a patch for IE that broke the ability to play video content in the browser? What if it broke flash?
Considering that many millions of dollars every day are spent on flash-based advertising, it's very likely that Microsoft would be sued for each and every dollar lost.
That's one reason why it takes a month or more for Microsoft to get a patch out. It absolutely can't break. Period.
Apparently this same rule doesn't apply to Mozilla or the Firefox team. - darkzealot89, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6...and here I was about to blame the Microsoft Windows Media Player 11 Beta as the culprit! Never would have thought it would be firefox... :(
- mvent2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The reason why it stopped working is as follows: There was a security patch a while ago to prevent Firefox from interpreting malformed URL's in embedded elements (images loading mailto:, etc). The problem was he also included EMBEDs and OBJECTs in this check. And since mms:// didn't make his protocol whitelist, it caused WMP to fail.
The testers thought this was a bug in the branch and not the security fix, which is why 1.5.0.5 was released anyway. - jinexile, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Firefox 3.0 is in development... why are they still working on 2.0???[/sarcasm]
Firefox 1.0.x is still being patched when security vulnerabilities are discovered. Mozilla has an obligation to provide a certain amount of legacy support to corporations that are notoriously slow to adopt a new product (often with good reason.) - Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -4/+7please let me know how i could ever be as cool as you
- k3n85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Poor java runtime environment just can't keep up with these updates i guess ...
- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I wonder what the changes are in version 1.5.0.6 for Linux if this is an issue for embedded Windows Media Player... Possibly only just a more recent daily build of gecko?
- ErrandboyOfDoom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Sounds like your Shift key is/was stuck. My HP laptop has sticky keys all the time, tapping all my shift and ctrl keys a few times usually solves the problem.
- veza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i don't understand your problem?
- ErrandboyOfDoom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Next time I'll just shout RTFM, my bad.
- natmaster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It does not count upgrades, and certainly not automatic updates. It only counts a user using another browser to download a full, fresh copy of Firefox through Mozilla's official website. This does not include distribution as bundling, or with PCs (Dell bundles FF in Europe if I remember correctly), downloading from different websites (e.x., downloads.com), or downloading directly from the ftp site (be it Mozilla or otherwise).
- monticello, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Still not fixed
- hiyel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What about the quicktime plugin?
I get frequent crashes even on apple's own website, when I watch their TV ads or animated product banners and stuff. - Cglass, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So any of you two wanna grab a bite to eat? Oh it seems this site is not for chatting, sorry, my mistake :D
- Derrekito, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Neat Firefox Portable extracts just fine with Wine.
- senfo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Because the 2.0 release is still in beta (i.e., not ready for the general public). Firefox 1.5.x is believed to be stable enough for public use and fixing the issues in a stable version makes the browsing experience that much better for those of us who prefer to wait for stable releases before updating.
Could I have possibly used the word "stable" any more in that comment? I almost got sick of seeing it, myself! ;-) - glock23, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I imagine they'll freeze the 1.5.0.x branch when the 2.0 'stable' version is released.
Until then, why not make releases? I'm sure they still have plenty of testers and coders working on the current stable release to get as many bugs out as possible. It's not worth just ditching the current software because the new looks so shiny and ..... well ..... new.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul, it would seem to me. - mydiggname, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It appears as though some of my memory leakage is "cured" with this update...HUZZAH!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I find their level of priorities to be a bit flawed.
For example, a primary annoyance would be the master password feature.
You go to a website, and it prompts you to enter the master pw so it can fill in your info. If you hit cancel, it pops up again. Hit cancel, pops up again. It's kinda intermittent, but even if you DO enter a password, it ***** pops up AGAIN.
You should only have to hit cancel ONCE, you should only have to enter the password ONCE. Period.
So goddamn annoying and I've been having to deal with it now for over a year, and I'm sure most others have too. - DreadPirateWes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Better than some companies who stick to the same damn version for years...
- Jaymoon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was suprised to see that there was an update for Flock today as well.
Don't know if the Flock team worked on this on their own, or if it was just something that's part of Firefox, which also applies to Flock too. - necrogoldo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2anyone else have this problem with firefox?:
I cant change gmail to the standard javascript view (yes, I have javascript enabled), it just stays in crappy html version. IE7 doesnt have this problem, but since i dont use IE I was hoping FF 1.5.0.6 would fix this. - animeher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Some weired problem in my firefox.... when I hit the Update button, the download is 6.1MB! Even for previous upgrades, it's been in the same league. Can someone throw any light as to why this is happening?
- JohnM5, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3get the nightly tester extension(well...the names something like that anyway) if they don't in the future,it'll let you bump up the version number ;)
- firemaker103, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@ThinkFr33ly
And then another month when it DOES break. - adrima, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1bah editing kicked me out as I was typing, but as I was going to say...
"That's one reason why it takes a month or more for Microsoft to get a patch out. It absolutely can't break. Period." Actually I believe this has happened a few times, then users had to wait *another* month for them to fix what they screwed up. - Warptera, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3@ buss:
Erm, no... All links I have clicked open in the same window, and I have to double-click to highlight text.
Edit: Nevermind. You posted a second time right before I did. :p - adrima, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Perhaps, but with MS you'd have to wait at least a month if not longer. This only took what...a week?
- idreamincode, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1CNN.com video still doesn't work in FF after this update.
says:
The CNN.com video experience is optimized for Windows Media Player 9 or above.
No Windows Media Player detected.
then a link to http://www.windowsmedia.com/download and get the player. I have WMP10 - goingstuckey, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6Windows Media Player plugin not working is a bug?
- Derrekito, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2If the only difference is the fix for Windows Media Player... well then that was a waste for us Linux users.
- ap1978, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1It's only the full downloads. Keep in mind that lots of people have downloaded it several times to make the figures look more impressive :)
- BadassCheese, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Does FF still crash after viewing a video with WMP.
- buss, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Edit: after restarting the browser a few times it seems to have gone away
