- xpgeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This is NOT the official beta. I repeat, NOT the official beta, I just KNEW some idiot would assume it was. This is a nightly with the official branding back in preparation for the official beta which comes out thursday.
- Mr.Scientist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 is released, it will be under the /pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases path, not under nightlies. If you're waiting for the official beta, wait, because this is not it. If you're willing to try nightlies, what are you waiting for?
- Kamael, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is not Beta1...just a nightly tagged as the beta1 in preparations for the release.
- 2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apparently, the tree was locked down on September 6, 2005. Read about it here: http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=7275
So doesn't that mean that, unless there is some major issue, that code will be the final code for Firefox 1.5 Beta 1?
I downloaded the nightly build labeled "firefox-1.4.en-US.win32.installer.exe 07-Sep-2005 02:27 4.9M"
I installed it and the installer tells me "You are about to install Mozilla Firefox 1.5 Beta 1".
Upon running, it ran a "Compatibility Updates" window for my extensions. It hung there for about 2 minutes so I canceled it.
The start page is: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/deerpark/alpha2.html "Deer Park Alpha 2 Start Page".
But the title bar says "Mozilla Firefox Beta 1"
The about box displays: "Mozilla Firefox version 1.5 Beta 1". - eyesx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Official Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 will be released Sep 8.
http://pchere.blogspot.com/2005/09/mozilla-firefox-15-beta-release.html - ender78, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Where is this 1.5 Beta 1, I cant see it
- CrisisDef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well some of my extensions gets these errors and they're the ones that are important to me.
plus there is no themes. it's so bland when it doesn't have a theme. - Iccanui, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Also
http://digg.com/software/Firefox_1.5_Review - lart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0:-D I'm running it right now and I'm not seeing a whole lot of differences
- CrisisDef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey what about the themes? is there anyway to make them compatible with the new release?
- CrisisDef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i don't think there's a lot of difference in this beta.
- ender78, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Beneath the 1.4 filename is ver 1.0.6 of FireFox, and not DeerPark.
- cssdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I'm only seeing 1.4 at that link. Sorry, Charlie."
"Where is this 1.5 Beta 1, I cant see it"
Ask yourself, has there been a Firefox 1.4? Download it and find out what lies beneath the 1.4 file name why don't you? - strangnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You might call it a Beta RC. Runs nicely and all extensions runs perfectly after some about:config magic. It is however both branded as Beta 1 and the UA has it as 1.4 as it should.
- lickmygiggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's an extension for testing nightlies that allows you to enable previously disabled extensions...It's called "nightly tester tools" and you can get it here.
http://users.blueprintit.co.uk/~dave/web/firefox/buildid/nightly.html
Fair warning though- Enabling a disabled extension can cause you a great deal of problems. (Although I haven't seen any besides the Official Google Toolbar getting screwed up.) - mousky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You might call this "yet another stupid submission" on digg.
- Iccanui, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Unlike other browsers which shall remain nameless, each time FF is released it doesnt mean new features, it can simply mean security which is something you cant see by looking at it.
If you ask me the browser is about as perfect as it gets, i cant think of anything else i would want except the ability to put my RSS feed in my favorites on my windows tool bar so i could just click on it and it would list the feeds. - JackDoyle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Weird. I set Deer Park to force new windows to open in new tabs. Nice. Then I decided I was done playing with Deer Park so I uninstalled it. Now back to Firefox.
However, Firefox is now opening new windows in new tabs instead of windows. Nice... strange, but nice. - shakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For both extensions and themes you can open them as a zip file and modify the install.rdf file. Change the maxVersion to 2.0 and it'll work. My nightly build from last week is version 1.6a1.
- JackDoyle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Weird, all of my extensions were enabled and worked find on Deer Park.
- p2btech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Link provided isn't a beta, it's the Alpha 2 version, hense when you load it up for the first time it takes you to a page that says something like New Stuff in Deer Park Alpha 2.
- Hawkeye1980, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that's a nightly, what's the deal?
- das7282, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What!? No Mac version yet???
- vemon388, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Beneath the 1.4 filename is ver 1.0.6 of FireFox, and not DeerPark."
It doesn't look like that to me.
dude 1.5 is alot better than 1.0.6 - gatobrit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0A nightly is a daily release of the code for testers and developers. The 'official 1.5 beta' which will be named internally 1.4, will be released tomorrow....
