- Bastian227, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm buying Opera. You heard it here first.
- chabuhi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2KoolAidGuy -- thank you for pointing out a very serious flaw in Digg. I was annoyed at first, but then I realized that Digg is completely useless. What a letdown. Can't wait to see if this impacts their vc at all.
- kamizu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1as i said in: http://digg.com/software/Microsoft_Buys_Out_Opera
"foul rumours! vulgar vulgar lies! technological blasphemy!
may this 'insider' be spammed with nude photos of dick cheney sitting with his legs spread! may he be locked in a room full of computers hooked up to dial-up that never connects! may he listen to 5.1 sound surround speeches of bush with alternating speeds and peaks of volume! may he suffer technological hell as he gets headshot for all eternity in every map of counter-strike (original, not source!) due to horrid dial-up lags!"
turns out they WERE foul rumours and vulgar vulgar lies. dugg to set the record straight. - richiejp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Microsoft couldn't legally buy Opera due to anti monopoly law. Even if it could I don't see any reason why Opera would deny being in talks with MS, most companys are quite vocal if they are up for sale, it sends their share price up.
Then there is the whole issue of what MS would do with Opera once it bought it, MS doesn't need the technology that Opera owns or it's developement team. So it would just destroy the company, the majority of Opera's share holders are employees and they arn't going to want that.
Somone's just haveing a laugh. - CreepingDeath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you havn't yet, just block the 4 or 5 accounts they're using to spam by clicking the X by the rate comment thing. I'm sure as soon as those lazy left-coasters wake up they'll put a stop to this crapola.
- chabuhi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Please digg just to set the record straight.
- cusoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was just about to say "I wonder how long before this gets comment flooded", but as you can see that's a pointless statement now :P
- psilvestri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 I hate those stupid spammers.
- rousehouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, of course it wasn't true. Come on guys...
- mcmac1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yep, time to ban 'overclocker'.
- Axord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"And how come these lame stories come to front page?"
Underestimate the fervor of the Opera fanbase at your peril. - BuddyChrist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"This site is fast becomming useless. You would think that the owners would be on this by now."
The same shyte is on slashdot. Ban filters are not really very effective. You ban a username, they change the user name. You ban an ip address, they use a proxy or change their IP... The only way to fix the "spam" would be for moderators to personally verify the validity of each post before it is publicly viewed. - coopa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm guessing the spam has gone as there's only about 8 or 9 comments here now?
- crapiolio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Microsoft still got IE, and it's still dominant.
- tempusrob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This needs to be on the front page ASAP. I can't believe Dvorak's article got taken so far, and so seriously...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0we'll just have ti wait and see, personally it doesn't affect me, i use safari/camino
- lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0speaking of rumors i have it on good authority that microsoft is buying out krispy kreme, so that they can make hi-tech computer donuts that can feel pain when you eat them. spread the word.
- dharm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ok ya... KoolaidGuy is lame for repeatedly spamming... but
i dont mind it that much, hes showing Digg that there is a flaw, and that it should be fixed, yet digg hasnt done ***** but ban nhis account, and he just makes more random ones...
he could be more sinister and start advertising sites and *****, but hes not, hes just exploiting the flaw to show that it exists, and that it should be fixed by the coders...
hmm they said the same thing about google's rumours to buy it, that thearent true
theres a article from earliar this year, that has one of opera soft execs saying that opera doesnt have a price, and it cannot be bought withwhatever amounts of money (which i think is a lie though, everything can be bought with money) - Yoshi39, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The only way to fix the "spam" would be for moderators to personally verify the validity of each post before it is publicly viewed."
How about making sure one ip can't post more then lets say 1 post every minute and automatically chacking for 10+posts contaning the exact same tex? - Complexium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wooopdido! M$ can go **** themselves! Opera will stay Norwegian!
- NeilM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Debunked. Now get outta here!
- duketogo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm glad he found that exploit, maybe that would explain the useless content I've been reading for the past little while.
- Complexium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe small on the desktop front, but not on the mobile phone
- right-h.man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh crap, ignore the post above............
sorry about that - wish i could delete that comment :S
check the times of my comments - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This site is fast becomming useless. You would think that the owners would be on this by now.
- thetbad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The site is moderated by everyone. I guess that means it's in our hands.
- haloevo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha...... I had a good feeling Microsoft wouldn't buy out Opera... They have no reason to.
- vagabond0101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am sure digg will find a way to kick of these spammers. And how come these lame stories come to front page? Is this also because of these stupid spammers or what?
- right-h.man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Had to undig: http://www.digg.com/software/Microsoft_does_NOT_buy_Opera
Reported it as being "lame" too - anti-net, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It did seem a little fake that they would, Microsoft think IE7 will destory opera and firefox
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can NOT eat your own head.. don't you feel silly biting your lip?
- decile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They better not :( I love Opera.
- ForbesBingley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't like Opera.
It's fast enough, but it's just clunky and weird to use... - rob.holbrook, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Get the hell over it M$ blows we all know it ----- maybe opera would help them
- stimpack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0As Microsoft would immediatly axe Linux/Mac versions and most probably the Windoze version too, I doubt Opera would ever go with this.
- timewarrior, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Microsoft does NOT buy Opera"
Who said they did?
Headlines in the newspapers "The World has not Ended" - Emanon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Did not.........maybe........"does NOT".....who knows.
I'm sure Opera isn't just going to come out and say it till the deal is done if it is true. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0NOT dugg
because it could still happen and they don't even know about the plans yet if there are any
plus, the story is rather pretentious - Maajid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Bastards.
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Microsoft is not buying opera....IE 7 is already based on firefox.
- rodzilla, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1the adventures of koolaidguy are awesome
- jkearney, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0dumb *****
- cheese_and_soup, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Opera knowing anything about computers is like Madonna knowing how to be "Like A Virgin."
