Lyrics Plugin for WMP and WinAmp
lyricsplugin.com — This cute little plugin will automatically display the lyrics for the song you are listening to. I love it. Just install it and it starts displaying those lyrics.
- 814 diggs
- digg it
- thbaero, on 10/29/2007, -0/+10yep, i can only agree. works fine with winamp and does exactly what its supposed to do no fancy features. just the basics. but those work well.
- rabuksak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2fantastic simple plugin. it even conforms to whatever skin one is using (at least with winamp 5.x).
also, i played a rammstein tune (german band) to see what it displayed and it came up with the german lyrics first, and the english translation below...fantastic!
*two thumbs up* - Rayza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Awesome, it pops them up almost instantly! Suprising, I thought they'd be slower..
- PsychoPNut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Works great with WMP 11 also. I am very surprised, I tried on of these before with WMP 10 and it just plain didn't work.
- rabuksak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2fantastic simple plugin. it even conforms to whatever skin one is using (at least with winamp 5.x).
- lepermessiah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Neat. No frills attached. Would be interesting to see if it stays this way.
- HardSide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8My question is, to what server does it log into to get these lyrics?
- alwaysmc2, on 10/29/2007, -0/+5it get's them from it's own website. (lyricsplugin.com)
- gmc14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can only speculate, but the title uses the same font / style as
"http://www.lyricsdir.com/" so I would guess they are related in some way. - jumpingbeenz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@gmc14
Yea, in the top right hand corner of that site, it has a link to the lyrics plug in website - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3I played Ave Maria by Bach. And I got the results that I expected with something like this. Pretty cool any ways, though no support for songs sung in latin sucks.
- sdcrepcia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I stumbled upon this about a week ago and it works fine with most songs on WMP. You can add you own lyrics if it doesn't find the lyrics by itself. Pretty cool add-on.
- Detritus, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Adding the "Digg us" thing to everything was annoying.
http://www.leoslyrics.com/
But I like the ability to add easily. - b.m.a.n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6cool little thing, could come in handy, instead of going over the internet to find crap
- nfg05, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4anything like this for itunes?
- darkervisions, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6http://www.evillabs.sk/evillyrics/download.php
Works with iTunes. - makeurchoice, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4MiniLyrics work too + Compatibility with 15 players other features:
# Trial version that never expires!!
# Cool skins!
# Do scrolling lyrics that go with the song
http://www.crintsoft.com/minilyrics.htm - terrab0t, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Thanks for pointing out Minilyrics. I don't use itunes, but I've been using Evillyrucs for quite a while and I've always found it's support for auto-scrolling lyrics to be buggy and frustrating to say the least. Minilyrics uses the much more reliable .lrc format. The only repair necessary is often just a quick nudge up or down to put it in sync with your version of the recording.
I've actually used my PC to host karaoke parties with Evillyrics and DeFX for Winamp to remove the vocals from songs and only having a small collection of tracks with working autoscrolling lyrics forced me to sit and scroll things manually. I may have a monitor for winamp and a TV showing the lyrics (as a second monitor), but If I have to "operate" the lyrics display manually I can't let people hunt through my collection for songs while another one is playing. I may be doing another one of these events soon and this will make things a LOT more enjoyable.

- gkzhang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7If you are on the linux side, you should check out Amarok.
It already has this feature built in.
It also has a tab for the Wikipedia page of the artist you are listening to and also some neat personal statistics for the artist and the song.- ryan4477, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2yay for pointing out my FAVORITE media player!!!!!!!!!! i LOVE amaroK!!!!!!!!!! when i switch back and forth between windows and linux i sometimes get too used to being able to close out of it and it still running adn i close out of windows media player ^_^
anyways this plugin ROCKS instant lyrics, now i know what they're saying ^_^
- ryan4477, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2yay for pointing out my FAVORITE media player!!!!!!!!!! i LOVE amaroK!!!!!!!!!! when i switch back and forth between windows and linux i sometimes get too used to being able to close out of it and it still running adn i close out of windows media player ^_^
- scooper86, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1oo oo just had to add us linux users have had this feature for ages with amarok, god bless amarok and linux
- geeksnap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have been looking for something like this for WinAmp! I got attached to the lyrics plugin in Amarok. Now I can have lyrics when on my Windows partion.
- MasterBeowulf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wow... this is really a great add on to WinAmp/WMP!! and it saves me so much time trying to looking up lyrics! I'd give it more diggs if i could!
- Systembomber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Does it do scrolling lyrics that go with the song?
Like a kareoke?- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Nope. There's one linked in this discussion that does though, but I just got headaches from that feature. The problem is basically that your version of that mp3 is not necessarily the exact same version the guy doing the synchronization had. It's enough to have a little extra silence in the start of the song (or that the synch guy had it) to ruin the whole thing, and I found it all to unfortunately be quite fragile. :-(
There's also the problem that some songs have different versions of them too, and the karaoke info isn't necessarily precisely tagged with that and you might end up with a wildly different synch.
But having said that, feel free to try :-)

- consonance, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4There's one feature in this plug-in that I don't like - It uses Internet Explorer to view the lyrics, as opposed to other lyrics plug-ins (like Leo's Lyrics). Call me crazy, but I'm wary of having to use IE 6 when there's the possibility of rogue users initiating an attack against my computer.
- Snakedal337, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Wow, it retrieves the lyrics really fast!
- Mojorat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i think it would be cool if they made this in a way (some sort of kareoke)... u see the written lyrics but the part that their singing now is highlighted
- nixfu, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1
iTunes/IPOD already does this quite well. - suprfli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Love this!
I was really surprised by how fast the lyrics appeared. I expected there to be a wait between the song starting and when the lyrics are pulled down but it's nearly instantaneous. Awesome!! - j00fek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2nice app
- canyoudiggitman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool... Very Cool.
- RobbieCrash, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Won't work on Vista.
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5Or is it perhaps that Vista won't work with this, if you see the subtle but important difference? ;-)
- CBTF, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12^ Shut up.
- alwaysmc2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm running Vista right now, and it works fine with WMP 11.
- GlargTheKelfn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3if not paying huge licensing fees, shut down my the riaa in 3....2....
- Mojorat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1huh uhm no... what are they doing bad? their just showing the lyrics that u can get on thousands of other websites for free also..
- GlargTheKelfn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1havent you heard? riaa is taking down lyrics and tab sites now. olga is gone. serveral tab sites are gone and so are most us lyrics servers.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i like it.. i've thought about searching for something like this.. i do a lot of google searches that start out with the word lyrics, include band name and a couple words from the song... this will save me some time whenever i'm curious
- lpellis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here is another one that people might like (LyricFX)
http://www.onlylyrics.net/software/
Automatically downloads the lyrics, and also does karaoke with some (simple) pretty graphics - NismoDrift, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2only shows lyrics for mainstream or at least somewhat popular songs no mixtapes or underground lyrics.
- CursedFrogurt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tell me about it. they don't have Kung-Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas -- very disappointing.
- PrometheuZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I use EvilLyrics, have been for over a year now, works great. http://www.evillabs.sk/evillyrics/
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, it's quick at loading them too...! I mean, despite the digg currently in effect.
- gti8v, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I like the winamp plugin at http://www.leoslyrics.com/ which lets you save the lyrics to the mp3 tag
- CHAIN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Excellent..thanks so much..will save me much time
- XonnoX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn, gti8v beat me to it. http://leoslyrics.com has the best plugin I've found for winamp. It's a full integration in saves the lyrics and displays in them winamp rather than just opening an iframe. You can also edit the lyrics if they are incorrect and they will display correctly every time thereafter.
- JrGhoull, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0how the heck do u get it working? i downloaded it and it comes up as this white screen and i have no idea how to add the lyrics...i would perfer closed captions over this...
- BamB00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you want Chinese lyrics, try out this mp3 player: www.ttplayer.com
- nacquatella, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Extremely Fast!
Excellente plugin. - techpimp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I listen to electronica that mostly has no vocals :(
- davidepaula, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just Love it!!!
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Leo's Lyric plugin for WinAmp is pretty good.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anybody know if this works with WMP11 Beta 2? And anybody want to bet how long until the RIAA issues a C&D letter?
- ryan4477, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1works fine in my WMP 11, pretty sure its beta 2 but it could be some media player from mars, my home planet.
- bryceman111, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I definetely prefer Leos Lyrics Winamp Plugin. www.leoslyrics.com
- Fatest, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Lol, I just downloaded this. It's a great timekiller, since I love to grammar nazi lyrics to the songs I'm listening to. :D
- pharmer1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Greatest plugin ever. Thanks for sharing.
- LDinOR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Once I installed it I could not even get WinAmp 2.8 to open, crashed as soon as clicked. Deleted plugin, I'll stick with EvilLyrics as it has never given me a problem.
- Altanar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why are you using winamp 2.8? If you like the style, just get Winamp 5.3 and set it to classic mode.
- tetrodotoxin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like this plugin a lot, saves me the time of hunting down lyrics to copy and paste as i please. Def. the most useful Winamp plugin i've encountered.
- wheeldawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Works great. ^_^ I love it.
- HypnotiQBen84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, very fast!
- ZeonZumDeikun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've had it for a few months now, and I absolutely love it. I never cared for visualizations all that much, and this little fella puts that space to use. And there's like no delay, which is icing on the deliciously nerdy cake.
- Egotrippin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One of the Better plugins I'ver seen. Thanks for the link.
- exchequer598, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0but these plugins look for lyrics on the net.... try this plugin.
hiker.org/lyrics.htm
It comes with a winamp compatible lyrics editor and lets u embed the lyrics inside the mp3 file!!! really cool. my personal favourite - hansamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been using this plugin for a few months now, best thing ever to use at work where I want to know some lyrics but don't want to go to a bunch of crap lyric sites.
- yourlyrics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how could i supply punk lyrics for you of http://www1.webng.com/lyrics/
- flailingjedi, on 11/16/2007, -0/+0This impresses me greatly, installed the WMP version and it worked perfectly, immediately with no tweaking required! I'm using WMP 11 btw, even tho the pictured player is version 10 on the download page.
- benvladimir, on 12/07/2007, -0/+0works good with wmp11.
