- freezerburn666, on 10/13/2008, -3/+34USA only... not very universal
- LeviTheSmith, on 10/13/2008, -3/+27I use Hulu. But because I'm in Aus it tries to not let me, so I use HotSpot Shield to make it appear I'm in the U.S.
But HotSpot Shield puts a frame at the top of every window so after it connects to the proxy I use AdBlock to block everything from their(HotSpot Shield's) site. :D - rogerhenry, on 10/13/2008, -3/+20Of course the list starts with Hulu. I just watched a movie or two there (in high def of course) last week. Now that is a great service.
- RonnieW, on 10/13/2008, -2/+19i hate that "only us viewers can watch full episode's" gues i'll just keep downloading them.
- pooljoe, on 10/13/2008, -2/+18Useless in Canada :-(
but there are plenty others :-) - casbboy, on 10/13/2008, -4/+19That is awesome. Great find by Gizmodo. But can anything really beat South Park Studios when it comes to free television? ;)
- coldfusion1970, on 10/13/2008, -0/+12These are services provided by the big networks.
- moocow1452, on 10/13/2008, -1/+12Free > Cable/Sat with DVR.
- karaokekidd, on 10/13/2008, -1/+9If you are in America...
- FDisk, on 10/13/2008, -2/+10You Sir, win the internets.
- bmson, on 10/13/2008, -2/+8This is not available in your country...
Sorry... I would love to watch this legally but I have no option to do so, so I have to "steal" - inactive, on 10/13/2008, -1/+7Youporn.com
- tarski, on 10/13/2008, -2/+7I want this in the UK!
- ViperX116, on 10/13/2008, -3/+8Damn, thought it was going to be an actual remote.
- inactive, on 10/13/2008, -4/+8lost_complete_seasons1-4.torrent
heroes_season1.torrent
30rock.torrent
etc, etc...
this list is cool though because it doesn't take up hard drive space. - somedudemanguy, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4Thanks guys! It's just so hard to find porn these days....
- myhandleondigg, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4They are commercial breaks, to remind you what commercial entity is paying money for the network to air the show. I would hate to see sites like Hulu fail because people complaining about 10 second long commercials.
- dumpyhumpy, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4...and paid for through advertising...
- bholub, on 10/13/2008, -1/+4The list could be summarized as: abc.go.com, cbs.com, fox.com, hulu.com, southparkstudios.com, mtv.com and cwtv.com
- Scorps111, on 10/13/2008, -1/+4How can i get it to work in uk if i use proxy still doesnt work :(
Damn you U.S.A.
Tho i would Love U.S.A. If it showed me how "Kiss Kiss" - karaokekidd, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Using a proxy or especially TOR makes streaming a video very slow.
- HillerMylife, on 10/13/2008, -1/+4I actually built a HTPC primarily to watch The Daily Show and Colbert on my own time, and I don't even have a TV card installed. I adore Hulu -- So many shows and movies, and I'm actually supporting the shows by watching the ads. Really, three 30-second breaks is small potatoes compared to the 16 minutes per hour you'll get on real television.
- dumpyhumpy, on 10/13/2008, -1/+4pornhub
- EarlOfLade, on 10/13/2008, -3/+6Sure, if all you go after is picture and sound quality, why not just watch a test image?
I have no problems with the compromise in quality if I can watch it any time I want without regards to where I am. - OropheR, on 10/13/2008, -1/+4"This episode is currently only available to viewers living in the United States."
Screw that!
Only South Park works. - str3ama, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2Well this list is sorta self-serving, and sorta pointless, so here's the uber-Universal Remote free of DRM or jumping though hoops:
http://www.hulu.com - yes us only, but all the shows listed there can pretty much be watched here.
http://www.surfthechannel.com - all those tv shows, but without the US requirement.
http://www.tvshack.com - again same thing but this ones a bit less stable, lots of slower links here unfortunately.
http://www.freetube.us.tc - not vod but if you're lucky enough and armed with tv guide, you can try to catch some of these shows streaming live on air. better for news then tv shows, but worth a shot.
http://www.joost.com - lots of the retro stuff. you have to register and download the program but they made some of the episodes as web videos that just require registration
http://www.thepiratebay.org - when nothing else works come to TPB. Torrents, Torrents and more Torrents - best of all is you can get everything in sweet HD quality. - myhandleondigg, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3Well, thanks for the links to watch great show clips from The Hills and Greatest American Dog, but not mentioning the full episodes that FX has hosted on Hulu.
- ewang, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3So you're not familiar with anyway to capture the stream to your HD? Or you're just saying that most folks won't know how to do that (though I question how many non-Tivo DVR users know how to burn a show to DVD either)?
Not that DVRs aren't wonderful things, but once you pay the monthly fee and the cable bill, I wonder how long it takes until you'd be better off with a few PCs around the house and this? - kangy3213, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3awesome - free TV
- Sheethappens, on 10/13/2008, -4/+6It all sounds "peachy keen" until you go there with a non-USA IP address and then you are told, impolitely but not in these words, to "piss off, foreigner!".
Marvellous waste of space! - inactive, on 10/13/2008, -3/+5tubehentai.com
- dotMH, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3It is for them...
- actionscripted, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2Flash?
- synthoid, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1EZTV
http://eztv.it/frontpage.php - leelu, on 10/13/2008, -9/+10I may never leave my computer now. I bet the networks may not be too happy with this because of missing ads.
- EarlOfLade, on 10/13/2008, -2/+3That is like BBC for me here in the US. They complain that I am not living in the nannystate.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/14/2008, -1/+2quality for those are *****. what am i saying, its a cartoon (best one ever mind you)
- RyeBrye, on 10/13/2008, -6/+7Automatic Commercial Skipping > mandatory commercials.
AC3 5.1 audio > stereo
Not to mention that a straight-up 720p or 1080i bitstreaming coming over ATSC is MUCH higher quality than any of the"hd" on the internet streaming sites...
Soo.... for these reasons, I'll definitely stick with a DVR - but it will be interesting to see how the future plays out with this regard. The content providers will like it because they can go back to forcing you to do things - like watch commercials - and can prevent you from doing things - like burning the show to a DVD, ripping it to your iPod, or doing any other number of things for free you can do with a decent DVR setup. - ramsinks.com, on 10/14/2008, -1/+2I made a basic CSS page for our HTPC home page..
http://www.ramsinks.com/htpc/
Simple for the wife. But I'd like to add more to it, not sure what.. - Pixelpaws, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2Unfortunately, a couple of the shows on this list DON'T have full-length videos available. "The Amazing Race" was the first one I checked and the longest video was 5:30.
Edit: Apparently ALL the videos on CBS are clips. None of the shows have any videos under "full episodes" now. What gives? - Allanon, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2I use TV Guide's Online Video Guide to find my online shows:
http://video.tvguide.com/ - tonyscha, on 10/14/2008, -1/+2It doesnt!
- lucidguru99, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1BBPCTV has all free online TV Show sources. Directly from the producers and 100% legal.
http://www.bbpctv.com/ - kurupttek, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2Ninjavideo FTW
- sam8988378, on 11/11/2008, -0/+1great idea! Now if it can only go back in time to Heroes, season 1. Season 3 is confusing for a 1st time viewer, season 2 is everywhere, but starting at season 1 would be so much better.
- thumperings, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1they're all on reddit. You stay here and distract the natives. We'll send a search party for you in a few weeks.
- troymccluresf, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1Wow. A bunch of links to Hulu and the networks' websites. Couldn't'a figured that out for myself.
Unfortunately, this is useless for people like me who're trying to catch up on The Office on my lunch breaks but can't find episodes from S2 anywhere online. Hula and NBC only carry the last few eps. - basetta, on 01/21/2009, -0/+0http://www.watchonlinetv4free.com/ here a lot of free italian channels.
- inactive, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1The only shows I would want to see on that list are on the Comedy Channel. What was that song by Bruce Springsteen 50 channels and nothing to watch?
