- subxero37, on 10/12/2007, -10/+74Wow. Just, wow.
- AudioPhil3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+54Great resource!
It’s amazing how crap some apps become, when they +v1.0, and turn themselves into bandwidth hogging, ram juicing spyware (*Looks sideways at DivX*). - sm3287, on 10/12/2007, -0/+47Yay, i just downloaded DirectX 6.0 ..... , ....i don't know why :/
- Nerfdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+43i still use aim 5.9xx (with aim adhack). aim triton is just bloated garbage.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+39Napster 2.0 beta, only 0.7 megabytes.
Remember way back when downloading a 10 mb game from download.com usually took a good hour or two?
god i wished i played outside more - leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30Newer is definitely not always better. I own ACDSee 8.00; but still only use 2.3; and it's missing only one feature I use.
- igraham09, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24...who don't take no crap off of nobody!
Cool Runnings anyone? - usefulidiot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Why in the name of all things holy did you BUY musicmatch let alone USE musicmatch?
- AshTR, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18@Nerfdude
Try Trillian. It's better than Triton and 5.9. Plus it supports other messengers. - jarcoal, on 10/12/2007, -15/+28how about a link to an older version of digg instead of this new *****
- mcflynnthm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Dugg because I have fond memories of using OldVersion.com to get versions of AIM that worked with DeadAIM (before going to Trillian 3)
- Derferman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13oldapps.com is also a great site, and it, unlike oldversion.com, has all the old iTunes versions
- bobmagoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11this would be awesome to get a pre AOL infested version of winamp
- Tsukmar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9If you really want an open source, minimal instant messenger, then may I suggest Miranda?
http://miranda-im.org/ - Terc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9http://oldapps.com/ for those out there that would rather click a link than copy and paste.
Thanks though Derferman, I couldn't remember the name of the site, I think that oldapps is much more complete than oldversion. - subxero37, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13People need to get over duped stories -- things happen so fast on Digg that there's no way a single guy can sit down and comb through each story thoroughly. My friend pointed out that new Winterbells game from Ferry Halim -- I'm addicted to it now. But he said he found it on Digg. I never saw it. Hell, I love the idea of dupes. Do you realize how many valuable things are on Digg that most people don't see? Besides, dupes don't waste anybody's time -- if you know it's a dupe 'cause you've seen it before, then woo-hoo, just don't read it.
- osc1882, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I downloaded every version of winamp from there about 8 months ago. But the most useful thing on there was Juno 5.0, that version lets you control Alt Delete their software, while staying connected. While I was a paid Juno user back then, I really didn't want their ***** dial up software running all of the time pissing me off.
- PabloIV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This site is about as old as the internet, I first saw it on screen savers way back when Leo and Patrick were on the show. It's such a great site though that it should be permanently on the front page. I don't care how many times it gets duped or dugg on as a new story, people need to know about this.
- flak9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7America Online 1.0 (0.3 MB)
America Online 1.1 (0.7 MB)
America Online 2.0 (1.3 MB)
America Online 2.5 (1.4 MB)
America Online 3.0 (1.4 MB)
America Online 4.0 (31.0 MB)
America Online 5.0 (12.6 MB)
America Online 6.0 (103.0 MB)
America Online 7.0 (59.0 MB)
America Online 8.0 (92.4 MB)
its amazing to see how much as time goes on how much crap aol bundles in. i am sure it has something to do with people having broadband but there is no way in hell a dialup software package should be 92.4 MB. - NeoPlatonist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I remember when I was so excited to install the latest AOL on the family computer.
***dies a little inside from the shame*** - fireandicefuel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6winamp 2.95 along with Nero 6 does wonders, been using this site for almost 2 years now, good stuff
- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I like the shared folder thingy in the new MSN, but that's it. The rest of the crap that comes with it is just annoying. Why the hell would I want to make someone else's message window shake? It's bloated as hell
- rockforever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I suspect this will be more useful when we see DRM taking over some of our favorite apps.
- Falladir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Some .iso files require a certain version of Daemontools.
As the other comments say, recent versions of chat clients are horrific bloatware.
I'm hoping that the reason the OP was dugg down is that readers think it was inappropriate to talk about grandmothers that way? Oldversion isn't for old people. ;) - Soldierboi, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5Oh yeah! Fireworks 2 baby! If nothing else, this site lets you reminisce. AOL3.0, 14.4k modems, punters, ahhhh those were the days.
- Van3ck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Pity they waste an entire CD for that install.
- stalky14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Acrobat 4.0!
Pre-bloat! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4ya 2.9 is the last best verison of winamp. I've tried 3 and 5, its just bloated.
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@Tazmaster or anyone who needs it,
If you need the last version of DVD Decrypter, I have uploaded it to http://www.mediafire.com/?7yfimtmmm4q
(Note: No sites are really mirroring DVD Decrypter anymore because the new copyright owners requested it to be taken down) - matrixclown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I just use meebo.com. very convinent for school. Don't have to install anything
- ig33k010011, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4this is crazy. i was actually just thinking the other day that i wish there was a website i could check out all of the old versions of these programs. no joke!
- foshizol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Is there an Apple equivalent of this site? I have to support 20 OS 9.2 machines at work and that would really help me out.
- Van3ck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Same here man... I depended on this site for older versions of AIM to use with my DeadAIM for years. It wasn't until about a month ago that I finally switched to Trillian.
In all honesty though... running DeadAIM was much faster than Trillian in my opinion, and did not eat up as much resources. Also, I never had any weird problems when people send me files using DeadAIM... with Trillian though, it is always hit or miss it seems. Sometimes it will work, sometimes not, and for some reason it wont work at all if someone tries sending an entire folder to me.
Trillian is rad, but still needs work. - russvan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Or maybe serialz.to doesnt have the latest serial, heh heh
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Too true. Especially regarding XP to Vista, newer is definitely NOT better. (Unless you prefer your OS to phone home and be more DRM-friendly in favor of shiny themes).
- Tazmaster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5No DVDshrink or DVD Decryptor :(
- vemerge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3After AOL 2.5, it got reaaaaaaaaaaally terrible.
- grevvvvvv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this site is almost as old as the apps on it, im surprised many people have never heard of it
- schroeder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I love this site. I used it years ago to get older versions of AIM that could be hacked at the time to remove the ads and for compatibility issues with other programs I used.
- kevyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3real jukebox was a great media player/library.
also, whats with all the "I saw this site in 1674, when it first came out, no one knew about it but me, and thats the way i liked it!"
"in fact, i designed it and still host it, im just super pissed you all found the address...damn kids" - uncoolcentral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Firewalls have become too bloaty. I use Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.4 from 2002 b/c the newer versions try to do too much and leave a huge footprint. The old version does everything I want/need. Rock solid. Just *try* to break into my boxes!
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Google for FoxitReader, uber non-bloat PDF viewer ftw =D
- pathfindertech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2cool. I have some license keys for older software but never paid to upgrade. over the years I lost the software and never bothered to google around for it. Now that it is in one spot, that is kinda nice.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Secure ftp is an oxymoron
- kaod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3ya man, its geek worthy but i've known about this site before digg existed....
- jafo818, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I bought the lifetime upgrade... I use it to rip my music. At the time it was one of the better solutions. Probably not anymore, but I still use it to rip all my CDs.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Guys who are using old versions of aim, upgrade to this:
http://x.aim.com/laim/
laim is the ***** pwn, best official IM client ever. No ads, no bloat, clean UI, low resource usage =D - mdmadph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2...somebody tell me: why are some people so amazed and stupefied that different people know different things? why can't some people seem to grasp the fact that what is "old" to one person may be "new" to another?
I weep. - MrViklund, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9This is old old old. have been around for ages...
