- Benad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Uhhhh.... What I do is move my iTunes directory to the external drive, then from the Terminal "ln -s /Volumes/MusicDrive/iTunes ~/Music/iTunes". That way, both the files and library data are shared. Just remember to do "chmod -R a+w /Volumes/MusicDrive/iTunes" from time to time just in case.
- manitoba98xp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Naww...you'll realize it's much better value to wait for the 2TB ones....then you can get a 1TB for a bargain price!
- bigredgpk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This hardware is looking like a better buy ever day. Once the Terabyte HDD's come out the price on the 750gbs will drop. And then i'll make my move!
- MikeTRose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Niiiiice. Now I have to buy a base station...
- superpixel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1seanb724, this is just my opinion, based on the handful of Airport base stations I've had the opportunity to briefly own, but Apple's base stations generally suck in the reliability department. I had 2 that crapped out within 24 hours. My Macbook Pro (yes, I realize a completely different beast from an ABS) has that spotty wireless issue that plagued many of the first-gen MBP's. I long for the days of beige Macs, when quality still mattered...
Gimme a Cisco any day. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
Need to switch ports for SMB since my friggin ISP has blocked 137-139 and 445. (But left 548 open.)
Any tips?

I had this set up for about a week, but had to revert back to a directly attached drive. I had two main problems:
1) there were some intermittent performance hits. I was in the process of backing up lots of stuff to
the airdisk, from the same computer i run itunes on, and others, so that could have been part of it.
2) The bigger problem was that I bought about 25 songs from itms, and 6 of them were corrupt. i
worked with apple support and when i downloaded them to a direct drive, they worked fine. Tried
again on the AirDrive, same problem.
The AEBS needs a firmware fix or two. I've also had wireless die completely when really hammering the AirDisk with either reads or writes or both. The setup in theory is great, but in practice, it is not quite ready for prime time. I will try iTunes via the AirDisk at the next firmware upgrade. - seanb724, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't think the AEBS will suck long term... It is a first release, and I bought it the day it was announced. I knew there would be some growing pains, but overall, it is fairly acceptable. I am using the AEBS for backups now without a problem (though the initial copies were a bit painful) and for and 802.11a/b/g/n. I do think the problems it has are all fixable with a firmware update (or 2 or 3 :-/ )...

Some of us deliberately block this useless Apple ***** because we're told to by the Apple fanboys who tell us that is the solution to our problem. If ***** post Apple ***** under 'software' then that's not the case now, is it?
If I wanted to buy products that are for retards with more money than sense, I would unblock that category. - alexmuller, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0What I like to do from the Terminal is "rm -f"
- masgrada, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1burried comment as "lame ass"
