- e03179, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've been over the quota before due to getting linked on high profile websites and haven't gotten my account deleted. This has happened twice.
The thing that sucked though was that they wouldn't let me buy more bandwidth. They said the only way to get the sites back online was to wait until the next billing cycle or to upgrade to a dedicated server. - TheBarge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3What do you expect when you're paying $6.95/mo for hosting on a shared server? How about you view your comment from the eyes of another customer who is on that server? Suddenly you're online store or whatever site you're running stops responding, all because someone paying $6.95/mo posts some Youtube video on their site to Digg and it smashes the server, when they could have easily linked directly to the youtube video instead.
Want to survive a Digg effect? Get a quality dedicated server. Don't expect to survive it from a cheap shared hosting account. - vonskippy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Too bad their demo doesn't work. - iAlex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Says Hostgator that can't handle their clients' sites when they got on digg. The accounts get deleted if they pass the bandwith quota and I have seen it happen when a Hostgator website got on Digg.com
