- luma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Jesus people - ImageShack is a great, free resource run by a couple of cool guys who ask for precisely 0 in return. Why would you want to rape their bandwidth? Why is this digg-worthy?
- colline, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I know what you mean, leetsauce. I wish someone would release a n00b-friendly, slick GUI or something. :)
- Lozil, on 07/31/2008, -0/+1Page Got Lost... :(
http://free-and-useful.blogspot.com/ - Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The script no longer works. Try it yourself, just gets crap back.
- error401, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It doesn't take much to modify it to get it working again, IIRC just replacing the find_link with find_image does it. Something trivial like that anyway.
It's still pretty pointless though, since the filenames at imageshack depend on the original user's filename -- and at least for all the files I tried have some random characters added to them. All the files I grabbed seemed to be from 5 or 6 months ago, so I assume this is a recent development. How many interesting files are you going to find that are numbered from 1-100 anyway. - rompom7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0giving the scripts to the skiddies.
- tetfsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks like the image shack "recent.php" url referenced in the story is experienceing "The Digg Effect"... too many connections... apache going down like a microsoft prom queen... must not cra....
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0error401: Yeah, I worked it out. Change "my.php" to "full.php" and that fixes the problem.
You can also replace all the references to "img301" with anything from "img1" to "img350" to try different servers. And you can also increase the range it checks to be greater than 100 easily enough. Works fine, after that slight modification above. On the img1 server, I checked up to image 2000 and it worked okay up to there at least. - leetsauce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah. Not a bad script though.
Perhaps people with Perl knowledge could contribute to it? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is from 2600, lmao.
- truspark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nadnerb, that pic reminds me of a joke by Dave Attell: He's talking about a parrot that instead of teaching it to say random things, says very helpful things such as: "No one has freckles on their ass us a condom, BAAAARP!"
- kherrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Please people, write not safe for work or something next to your links.
- doctorklein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you need the image, just 1. use firefox. 2. go to page info. 3. click the media tabe. 4. find the jpeg. 5. save as. done
- Elxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I read about this in 2600 a few weeks ago. Fun.
- RandoFernando, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lewww fusker does the same thing
- Grizzly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I used the Build Gallery in the firefox FlashGot extension and got my share of sore eyes.
- tetfsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sorry that was Photobucket and not ImageShack referenced... my bad. There should be a way to edit your comments on Digg.
- loquito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0my eyes.....my eyes......
- DewayneSmith, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Anyone notice it's from July the 14th?
- timdorr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A few guys can run 400 servers. It's relatively easy with their system, compared to something like shared hosting or whatnot. As long as you've got some automated method of maintaining uptime, it's pretty simple to do what they're doing, actually.
- ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0run by a couple of guys? I thought it would be more than that, since they have 400 servers :/
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So does digg need an Alt 2600 category for posts like this?
- Exploited, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was this is 2600 too.
- cypher35, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0already saw it in last issue of 2600...
- zymotic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I know nothing about PERL, but this gets a digg because I'd love to figure it out sometime.
- tjsocr1, on 03/03/2008, -0/+0Another really good image hosting site is http://www.imgflick.com =)
- merlyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0See "perldoc WWW::Mechanize::Examples" and look at the bottom example.
- brettshizzal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0type that in google.com
its a lil more simple
inurl:img imageshack - brettshizzal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0it doesnt work for everything tho =[
- HiddenS3crets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0July 14th? I'm sure this has been posted before, although I never saw it. Fairly basic concept
- kuinkaneohe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0figured it out...but this one doesn't work for all the pix!!!!
http://img123.imageshack.com/img123/[now they have other numbers here]/and the original name for the pichere.jpg - kuinkaneohe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey this sounds like an interesting one...i was wondering if anyone could help explain a beginner something real basic...i've picked up some of the perl and running some basic command prompt and think i can handle this, but how do i install mechanize???
- MikeEFresh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tried this after i read it in 2600, it didn't work. Now I can see what i did wrong.
- halo112358, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why is this interesting? it's a script that downloads a list of provided image numbers, much like an automated wget.... there are other more interesting perl scripts out there and once you take the glamorous "let's hack..." phrase out this is just perl 101.
- treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1http://img299.imageshack.us/full.php?image=11.jpg ... hello!
- nadnerb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1treelovinhippie...
I guess you didn't check out pic 15,
http://img299.imageshack.us/full.php?image=15.jpg ... fugly? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Crap!
