- oinkidyoink, on 05/22/2009, -6/+63Hurry up with a mac version, please.
- SurRea1, on 05/22/2009, -6/+57No new features: Sometimes the best feature that can ever be in a new software release
- Bloodwine, on 05/22/2009, -6/+49Since Google is an advertising company, I never foresee adblock support in Chrome.
- ontain, on 05/22/2009, -5/+36still needs extension (addon) support to become my main browser.
- blackdragn, on 05/22/2009, -7/+36The only thing that prevent me from using Chrome is a lack of advertise blocking. Beside that it's perfect
- evil-doer, on 05/22/2009, -5/+31in this case, it isnt. plugins anyone?
- ToastPop, on 05/22/2009, -3/+21Actually Google has confirmed it will support extensions down the road, and it certainly would not be within their power to keep people from installing ones that block ads.
- greenrider04, on 05/22/2009, -0/+15I bet the anti-trust people will jump on that real quick.
- xOutlawx, on 05/22/2009, -1/+15Google's daily alpha builds for OS X are looking pretty good.
http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/sub-r ... - renegadeafk, on 05/22/2009, -3/+17Still No smooth scrolling, chrome still lacks a lot of basic features. What chrome needs most IS new features.
- venomoushealer, on 05/22/2009, -0/+12And this is a bad thing? Yes, I would love to have some addons. But I'm a big fan of it being fast.
- Myztry, on 05/22/2009, -1/+13If you want the plug-in king then use Firefox.
If you want want clean and fast then use Chrome.
If browsers all become the same, then choice is lost.
Jack of all trades. Master of none. Not always a good idea. - smackydoodle, on 05/22/2009, -8/+20Guys, Google is not going to include an extension that would block a revenue source. So stop complaining about lack of ad blocking.
- tomtanghe, on 05/22/2009, -3/+15I'm using Chrome from the moment it came out. It is a very fast browser. Now it is even faster and more stable. Even though the current upgrade is rader minor.
- AlienHairball, on 05/22/2009, -4/+14http://www.adsweep.org/
I was introduced to this last night and it works like a charm for Chrome. Give it a shot and see whatcha think :) With that going I'm now comfortable using this new version of Chrome as my default browser for a while to see how much I actually miss the rest of my Firefox extensions. I suspect I'll get annoyed at some point and move back, but for now it's nice having such a fast, lightweight browser. - jmandawg, on 05/22/2009, -0/+91. Options -> GeneralTab -> restore the pages that were open last
2. ctrl+shift+t - cJw314, on 05/22/2009, -0/+9User-created extensions, duh?
- freezerburn666, on 05/22/2009, -3/+11i give the finger to mac users too
- EvilJon, on 05/22/2009, -2/+10That PC World article was unfairly harsh on a very nice product. I'd like to point out that they went to the latest version of Webkit with this release as well, which was not mentioned. As a platform for the latest and greatest in the web (CSS3 and CSS Animations/Transitions in particular), Chrome is amazing. It's memory management is superb, too. I love FF, but I can't stand how it gobbles up half a gig of ram if I leave it open overnight.
One awesome place to check out is Chrome Experiments to see what you can do with all that speed and a capable javascript engine - this is why you use Chrome! http://www.chromeexperiments.com/ - jambla, on 05/22/2009, -0/+7Actually it was just a bad download. I uninstalled, re-downloaded and installed again.
Thanks for the help though! - FredFredrickson, on 05/22/2009, -0/+7Come on now - you bought a Mac knowing that the software library was limited, that a very small percentage of computer users on Earth actually use Macs, and that many popular games and apps generally aren't released on that platform. Don't cry about it here because you made a stupid decision about what computer to buy.
- ThirdPrize, on 05/22/2009, -0/+7For RSS you could just use Google Reader in the Google Browser.
- xenodata, on 05/22/2009, -1/+8This guys sure knows how to bitch, chrome's my primary browser.
- uskomaton, on 05/22/2009, -7/+14No AdBlock, no download.
- epohs, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6Nope. Competition and innovation continues...
- Grazfather, on 05/22/2009, -4/+10I need adblock and greasemonkey.
- Barr08, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6You're doing it wrong. There is a standard bookmarks toolbar. Check the options
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6Oh yes, "that" hacking convention where everyone pawned their browsers! I wonder how much they got for IE?
- stuma9000, on 05/22/2009, -3/+9Lame. Stop troll stop.
- j4rcher, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6I lasted 20 minutes before going back to Firefox.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -1/+6RSS and extensions would be nice.
- jmahorney, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5this is public access to mac alpha versions?
- 3242130193, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5Linux too. Chrome will make a great alternative browser to firefox for quickly checking random things.
- ThirdPrize, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5You people and your greasey monkeys!
- Elranzer, on 05/22/2009, -2/+7I'd like to tell Chrome NOT to start a new tab with their "New Tab Screen". A blank page would do me just fine, thank you.
Also, it would be nice if the app installed globally (Program Files) instead of into the AddData (Documents & Settings) folder. That's just ***** annoying. - TypeEE, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5plugins and the zoom function
Zoom functions of chrome does what firefox 2 does which enlarge the fonts but not the yotuube videos and flash.
However, firefox 3 zooms the whole page proportionally which helps a lot when you have a larger monitor. This is a must have feature for the 24" monitor world. - wilsonthecat, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5Try changing your shortcut target to this:
C:\Users\**USERNAME**\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe -in-process-plugins - Beautyon, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5Each directory contains a zip of a working OS X binary. Cool!
- Supertrout, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4Google toolbar not available for a Google browser?
- Timerift, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4I have to say for a netbook it's the perfect browser (still keep Firefox around though for those special needs).
- pw378, on 05/22/2009, -1/+5That is one of my favorite features.
Besides, the "new tab" screen loads locally and instantly, so its not like its bogging down trying to load and render some God awful Yahoo! frontpage. - UK31337, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4I really can't decide whether or not I like Chrome. I've been using it for a while and in some ways it seems pretty slick but in others it's in the dark ages.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -1/+5I don't need any of the bells and whistles of Firefox. I like a nice, trim browser that takes up minimal screen space with toolbars and runs incredibly quickly.
- drizzlelicious, on 05/22/2009, -1/+5Worth it, IMO
- commentbot, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4I'm amazed no one knows the AdSweep extension among Digg users...
- inigomntoya, on 05/22/2009, -2/+6What if they supplied an extension to block all advertising but their own?
- UtahApocalyse, on 05/22/2009, -1/+4No adblock? pfft useless.
- epohs, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3The Chromium builds have gotten a lot better recently.
If you add the repositories, you can get them through Apt in Ubuntu... usually a new build every day or two.
https://launchpad.net/~chromium-daily/+archive/ppa - inactive, on 05/22/2009, -2/+5Maybe the whole reason Google released Chrome is to prevent Adblock.
- wwwluckyro, on 05/22/2009, -2/+5Yes. Open-source software is pretty cool, huh?
