Chat and voicechat you can already get and there are already big players on the arena. Also it's not as easy to change IM-client as it is to change what search engine you use. I have all my IRL friends on MSN (I think it's the only protocol that's used in Sweden, maybe icq also) and it would be tough to get them to change, especially if hasn't got any special features.
