- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+57Damn dude, how can you do anything with such a blurry screen.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31It thinks I love porn.... where did it get that idea?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22"1. I don't really like the idea of all my search history being saved."
i hate to break it to you, they're being saved whether you want to see them or not - nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22dude. wat's with all those toolbars?
- mcnugget, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Congratulations, you're one smart cookie!
- Charron, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21I also think you love porn. Never met you before, just going off statistics. :P
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22LOL. http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/2789/screen4diggay9.gif
- razei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Yes?
- razei, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15If you don't want Google 'tracking' you, disabling search history doesn't help at all. You might as well keep it on, at least then you can enjoy the benefits of having it integrated with other Google services.
- Hamsterpotpies, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13looks like alen3000 is a winamp user.
- reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Everybody loves porn.
- judsond, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12You would TOTALLY love writely! ;) - Your friend google
- Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8When will people stop using imageshack to host pictures...
- mzkw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8http://www.google.com/ig/directory?url=http://www.google.com/ig/modules/interesting_items.xml
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5What the hell, I got those same recommendations! Writely and Hempfest!
(for those who are wondering, Hempfest is a Seattle festival that just ended a couple weeks ago. ..And yes, it's all about making legalizing marijuana..) - ahalam, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11The module is not *by* Google. The developer of the module is not "Google, Inc.".
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Yes Eragmus, thanks for pointing that out, I thought his screen was broken and only showed a portion of the monitor where the new google module happened to be displayed..
(i hope you detected the sarcasm) - Trunkmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4+1 inaccurate. This module isn't by Google, it's simply a Google module written by some random developer. After installing it it had no data; it said I had to do two or three days of searches before it started working meaning it doesn't have access to the data Google has already collected on me.
Make your own assumptions. - rgov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This isn't really a new feature, just the rehashing of a relatively recent feature in the form of a homepage module. The data is the same as the Trends section in the Search History summary (for those who have enabled it) under the heading of "Top gaining queries related to your searches." It's been around since December 2005.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4*it's all about legalizing marijuana
sorry for the typo. - emiles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5You are right - flagged as innacurate.
- VSKBadCRC, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Except that if I wanted porn sites linked to my homepage I'd just pick a porn site and set it to be my homepage.
- mindtrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How can we disable personalized search?
- MrZop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2 Ok, this is off-topic.
Google used to let you type in a URL into the search bar, if no sites came up, they had a button "goto this URL" and made that text into a clickable URL. Now they don't let you. they just say" no results" it's really annoying. they changed it over the past few days or week. i really wish they'd replace that feature.
Sorry for the obviously off-topic rant. - geezusfreeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why are these getting dugg down?
- redlaser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1oops, sorry checked above comment (rgov's) too late
- redlaser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that interesting searches list is the one inside Trends.
never seemed accurate.
given the amount of searches iv done id expect better predictions - MrZop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Update: Yahoo and almost all other search engines will do it. but google will no longer. kindof annoying.
anybody know a FF extension that will let you highlite a URL and goto it? perhaps in another tab? or just at all? - sugar1210, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They track you by placing cookies on your computer. It helps the site remember where you have been before thus they are able to customize for your "preferences." Sometimes it is nice, but they take up so much room on my computer that I usually delete them. Only the server that placed the cookies on your computer can read them. However, there are networks now where companies have come together and agreed to read each others' cookies. I think that is mostly for advertising though.
- inversegen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hmm interesting though slightly worrying that they'll shove ad's at you...
- SJYokel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I use the TrackMeNot extension in Firefox and Goolge thinks I'm a freakin' Harvard Prof.
- Necraz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While the normal Search History shows pretty much the same thing, adding it to the homepage is a decent improvement. Rarely do I look through my Search History, unless I'm searching for a site that I forgot to bookmark, print, etc. I certainly know I'll be playing around with it a bit more now that it's in plain sight on the front page.
- Hoovooloo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4"dude. wat's with all those toolbars?"
Looks like Firefox with the Stumbleupon and Google toolbars, with a few tabs open (I have the exact same ;) ) - cope, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2thankyou!
everyone jumps on the band wagon, good to see others are getting over all the hype of a search engine. - u8myfoood, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2@redxii
nice quoting, doesnt even have an end quote now stop spamming! - CerebralVisions, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4So did I, but it's still giving me topics related to my searches.
- Eragmus, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3OH NICE
- lozaning, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1how do you add it to your google homepage?
i looked through the thing you usually use to add ***** but it wasnt there - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4OK, everyone...now be honest. In the history of the internet, there have been hundreds of sites that have recommedned something for you based on your history. Searches, online purchases, etc.
Has ANYONE ever really liked one of the recommeded sites or products?
Oh, I see. It's Google. - gd007, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1my searches are simple!
- natterca, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3you won't find it in the "add ***** thing", because it's software NOT *****.
- chasers, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0not so new... I like it
- turbomog007, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2Apparently it thinks I really should check out naruto. Is this what I get for searching random anime titles?
- Takteek, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6I disabled it too.
1. I don't really like the idea of all my search history being saved.
2. When I open google I already know what I want to search for. Having a list of things that I might possibly be interested in just slows me down when I have work to do. Also, I'm not usually interested in any of the things it suggests. - airencracken, on 10/12/2007, -15/+7I disabled the search history function.
- andrewkuehne, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1This story is OLD
- redxii, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2"computer keeps crashing"
"Recommended for you: Get a Mac by Apple (Why was I recommended this?) Ubuntu by www.ubuntu.com (Why was I recommended this?). - cope, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2i'm over google... we need another search engine
- Eragmus, on 10/12/2007, -16/+4Umm his screen isn't blurry by mistake; he blurred it for privacy... -__- and left the google module clear to let you read it.
- abuser, on 10/12/2007, -15/+1I refuse to use any of Google personalized crap.
First, I'm already busy enough.
Second, why enable them show me even more stinky ads.
Third, hasn't this been available elsewhere (del.icio.us, etc.) for months now?
