- jordankasteler, on 05/15/2008, -3/+27Im very excited for this. W3schools.com just wasn't cuttin it for me.
- Toby44, on 05/15/2008, -9/+7Agreed. W3schools sucks.
- stupidStan, on 05/15/2008, -5/+19Actually w3schools is a fantastic resource for beginners and quick reference.
You suck.- synyster, on 05/15/2008, -1/+3agree with that, but most of them it just seems so "old"
- stupidStan, on 05/15/2008, -5/+19Actually w3schools is a fantastic resource for beginners and quick reference.
- fugazied, on 05/15/2008, -0/+9Agreed, it is kinda crappy but for finding the name of that attribute that you can't quite remember its usually ok. Google Doctype will probably crush w3schools in a few months.
- TLLOTS, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4May also want to try http://reference.sitepoint.com/
Disclaimer: I work for the SitePoint.- maninalift, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4You mean "disclosure"?
/pedantry
...on second thoughts, I'm going to continue being a pedant.
- maninalift, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4You mean "disclosure"?
- Toby44, on 05/15/2008, -9/+7Agreed. W3schools sucks.
- jggube, on 05/15/2008, -1/+64This is very exciting. One thing that confused me though was the name "Google Doctype", I thought they were coming up with a new HTML doctype.
- jjustice, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1I agree - big-time semantic collision. Kind of like how Microsoft LiveMeeting is for holding meetings that are *not* live (i.e. in person).
- dolphus, on 05/15/2008, -0/+9This looks like a great resource. Lots and lots of source code!
- Jacob3d, on 05/15/2008, -0/+7Thank you Google! Awesome idea, make sure you check out the video for the full details - http://code.google.com/doctype/
- 8270369, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0Sweaty ultra-nerd. That's hot.
- Olivia54321, on 05/15/2008, -21/+3This seems to be very advance features enabled in coding and the name is very different, every one get use to this google code

http://www.goat.cx - maninalift, on 05/15/2008, -0/+6This is either a really good bot-attempt to write a message related to the article or a really bad human attempt.

- cypriss9, on 05/15/2008, -0/+2This is a very nice reference. As a web developer, I can say that this will probably be my first reference place for css/html/js info now. That being said, it is a bit rough around the edges in some areas, but since it's community-driven, that will probably be smoothed over soon.
- fugazied, on 05/15/2008, -0/+4Holy crap you can SVN checkout the whole encyclopedia! This will be a great resource.
- synyster, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3how do you do it?
- CircleFusion, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1http://code.google.com/doctype/downloading.html
or browse SVN

- synyster, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3how do you do it?
- dilibau, on 05/15/2008, -1/+4the irony is obvious: "What do you want to learn today?"
Why, open sources standards, of course... - donkeySays, on 05/15/2008, -0/+6I will be expressing the hurt I have experienced due to IE6; not like "IE sucks" but in a techno-political manner which will actually be useful to developers. IE should cease to exist.
- jwm0z, on 05/15/2008, -1/+22Why the hell have they called it Google Doctype?
- nirav72, on 05/15/2008, -0/+7Exactly, I was thinking the same thing. When I first saw the headline, I thought it was some sort of document header attribute pointing to some custom google service.
- dfecticon, on 05/15/2008, -4/+1Why w3c.org never did something like this I don't understand. It looks a bit slim on cross-browser render hacks and I can't see a JS reference, I better go throw my 2 bobs worth in : )
- maninalift, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3Did you watch the video? Part of the idea is to be as hack-free as possible. For example they have open-sourced some Google libraries that do the browser-specifics so you don't have to.
- synyster, on 05/15/2008, -0/+6i think they should change the name, is really confusing
- DestroyFascism, on 05/15/2008, -2/+2Good! The sooner XML http and dom services can be standardized the sooner we can create secure and X browser, X OS independent.
- WoollyMittens, on 05/15/2008, -1/+1Oh, and just when I was beginning to worry that Devguru was getting outdated. =^.^=
- pixelperfect, on 05/15/2008, -3/+1This is going to change my life.
I guess that means I don't have much of a life. - skyz, on 05/15/2008, -3/+1google rules
- nirvaorg, on 05/15/2008, -0/+3doesnt work in opera
- fearphage, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1It is strange that google is all about standards and opening the web when none of their pages validate. They use css hacks religiously and a non-standard js and html everywhere.
- mindmillionaire, on 05/15/2008, -0/+0Vey grateful to know about that....
