Google Bookmarks in Firefox
menjatallarins.com — This Firefox extension allows you to use, add and manage your Google Bookmarks right from Firefox's interface. It's very useful, works similar to the normal bookmarks, except that everything is synchronizing with server.

- vurdalak, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7So, it's really impressive, I've just got to know about Google bookmark
and already there is extension for use it in FF
lol- mvprj84, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I've known about Google Bookmarks and used them on my Google Personalized Page, and now this is just icing on the cake! Now I just can't wait to see what kind of Google Calendar extensions get released.

http://www.epicconstructions.com/mirror/Google_Bookmarks_in_Firefox/ - vurdalak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@mvprj84 - I use Mozilla Sunbird (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird/index.html) with Google Calendar private URL (via iCAL format). also there's Mozilla Lighting 0.1 (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/lightning/index.html)
- avenger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You don't know how long I have been waiting for an extension like this!! THANKS!
- accidental, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wish it worked. Get the error that it isnt a valid installer.
- jkrebs1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4good idea, but too late
see foxmarks...
http://www.foxcloud.com/wiki/Foxmarks- digiital, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't think so, that service is so freaking slow. You have patches ever few hrs. The Extension is a resource PIG.
- jschuur, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I use FoxMarks too, because it lets you store bookmarks on your own server, so I don't have to worry about storing private bookmarks on someone else's site. Never noticed any resource issues, and speed is pretty good, considering my large collection of bookmarks.
Del.icio.us added private bookmarks recently, but I still wouldn't want to trust a 3rd party with hosting my private links. - undauntedspirit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been looking for something like that for a long time!! Foxmarks is great... better than the linked extension on this page which I tried first.
- volcompimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What does that have to do w/ Google bookmarks?
- PauTo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0accidental, that error happens sometimes when the extension is not downloaded properly. Please try it again.
- opita, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0opps wrong spot mod down.
- jclstone, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4All this extension does is add an extra button to your toolbar and access a java script function which google already wrote to simplify this process:
javascript:(function(){var a=window,b=document,c=encodeURIComponent,d=a.open("http://www.google.com/bookmarks/mark?op=edit&output=popup&bkmk="+c(b.location)+"&title="+c(b.title),"bkmk_popup","left="+((a.screenX||a.screenLeft)+10)+",top="+((a.screenY||a.screenTop)+10)+",height=420px,width=550px,resizable=1,alwaysRaised=1");a.setTimeout(function(){d.focus()},300)})();
Simply add the above script (you can also access it at google bookmarks page and just drag and drop it into your bookmarks) as the target to one of your bookmarks. It does everything this "extension" does and you don't have to worry about installing unsigned extensions.- jclstone, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Meh, stupid digg commenting system won't allow me to post the full script. Anyways, you can get instructions on how to do this at your google bookmarks page towards the bottom. It's very simple, just drag and drop. Essentially all this "extension" does is link to the javascript function that google already wrote for this. Doing it googles way is easier and doesn't require you to install unsigned extensions while retaining all the functionality of this "extension".
- Poco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This google function only adds the current page to your bookmarks, it doesn't let you navigate to a bookmark.
- ludwik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I guess you've clicked on the star image - yeah, it does add a new bookmark. But when you click on "bookmarks" text or on the arrow the menu rolls out and you can view, use, and manage your current bookmarks. That's something new.
- opita, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Actually your are talking about a totally different thing.
Please check the link before you spit out nonsense...
Don't mean to be rude, but ppl keep doing this without even checking the article. - jclstone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ludwik - Yeah, I didn't realize it also allowed you to navigate to your google bookmarks, so now I have reinstalled it. Thanks to you and Poco for the heads up.
@opita - No, I'm not talking about a totaly different thing, this extension does in fact use the google script when you click on the star to add a bookmark.
- Phssthpok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0How do you import your bookmarks?
- ludwik, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I believe you just have to be loged in on google.com
- jclstone, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Please mod this down. mistake.
- ahmerhussain, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I like http://diigo.com
- scriptkiddie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Love it already.
- error401, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Great. It accesses a Google service, so a ton of people care about it. The Bookmarks Synchronizer extension's been around for ages and is just barely getting maintained at this point. It's hard to even find a working download. Screw all this dependence on Google for everything. I want my important personal information stored somewhere I trust.
- volcompimp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's about time!
- slugicide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Flock let's me use my del.icio.us account to keep my bookmarks in the browser and on the web. I don't know anything about google bookmarks, but it sounds similar.
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8http://del.icio.us
- opita, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0One little problem...
It gives the description of the bookmark not the name.
I hate that, I want the name not the whole description.
Hope they fix it.- PauTo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sorry but I don't understand what you said, what do you mean by the name? the URL of the bookmark?
- thegeekpea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It displays the notes for each bookmark only if you have them entered... otherwise it shows the name of the link.
either way i'll stick with the y! toolbar and bookmarks.
- heathuff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is great!!!! Before I would have to go to my google page, then click on bookmarks to access them-now I can access them right from the toolbar-great digg!
- mattmac24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0using the later version of FF, this crashes my browser. I need to go into safe mode and remove the extention before FF will work again. using v. 1.5.0.2
anybody else having this problem, any fixes? - jczer68, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1what's up with a log on screen for google bookmarks, that's pretty lame... I can tell already it isn't a del.icio.us clone nor a del.icio.us improvement. that's okay, the brazilians can have it, I'll be using del.icio.us.
- l337dexter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't even have anything show up....at all...any suggestions?
FF v 1.5.0.2 - fullfilth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google Bookmarks already have some simple java script to save bookmark and view saved Google Bookmarks for Firefox. Yeah there is more function in this extension but I only want simple one. Google Bookmarks also have label aka tag, not so far from http://del.icio.us .
http://www.google.com/bookmarks/ - j4s0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i wonder if Google would have their version of that on Google Toolbar so you don't have to install another 3rd party software. It would have been much cooler.
- Marvelous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1very nice extension indeed i have been wanting this badly for some time now.
- sirber, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I would not like google having my bookmarks, as well as my other personal stuff like mail, calendar, chat...
- TransmitThis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the foxmarks...Link that is the one for me.
Store my bookmarks on my own server good idea - romzombie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been using the Google Bookmarks for a while, since I use IE at work, but it's sweet to finally be able to use them at home on Firefox as well! Digg+ !
- monsieurG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0is it me or does this extension majorly slow down the startup time of firefox?
- kolyas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What about subfolders??!! Great extension, the only thing missing is subfolder support
- PauTo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0New version released, solves the slow down problems and some more. Check it at the same place.
Kolyas, Google Bookmarks didn't has support for subfolders so, and the extension uses the Google Bookmarks feeds so I can't do much about this :)- kolyas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well... what if lets say I name one of my so called labels like this "School.Research". In google it'll show up as a single folder ... your extension could parse it and display "School" as a folder and "Research" as subfolder ... use "." as a delimiter. Now even just one level of subfolders would make a huge dufference to me. You see what I'm getting at? Now I've never done FF extensions my self so I wouldn't know how to realize it, maybe it's not that easy as I make it sound.
Kolyas. - PauTo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll take a look into that, Koylas.
- dlcrockett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1try this code for your generateMenuItems it should give you the ability to do subdirectories like he asked for

- vgmaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This doesn't work for me. I place the "bookmarks" button on my toolbar and when clicked it just opens my standard bookmarks bar on the side...
- PauTo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Version 0.2 released!
- LordSnooze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It took me a while to find it...
