- hombrelobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34I still prefer Gmail, but digg.
- acurism, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Gmail all the way. It has better features and does it better.
- zatrix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23same here, I don't think I can ever switch to anything else ... ever
- phpirate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23Gmail doesn't fly flashy ads in your face either and is a lot more simplistic.
- kyriakos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I'm using Yahoo Mail Beta. honestly I've tried them all and I must admit Yahoo got it right with their new mail.
- Scruffydan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Gmail seems faster than Yahoo or MS live mail.
- ionut, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15How to get Yahoo Mail Beta: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2006/04/get-yahoo-mail-beta.html
- hubble, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9if the yahoo betas weren't overloaded with ads and nonsense, they'd be so much better
- uhdean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10It is pretty decent, but it is SLOW AS HELL and you cannot use a POP mail client with it. Gmail is still on top.
- DougieD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I completely agree. That's not to say Yahoo didn't do it right, it's just that Gmail offers the same features plus more while still maintaining a simple and effective feel. Also, for better or worse Yahoo Mail seems to completely replicate Outlook (an already flawed program), which I personally don't find appealing. I think that the big clunky interfaces belong on the desktop, and simple and clean interfaces (ala Gmail) belong on the web. ...And microsoft's attempt is just so (unsurprisingly) pathetic, the only place it belongs is the trash.
/Gmail fanboyism - DarkSorrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8im not planning to switch to yahoo, i love gmail, it very clean and simple interface, and speedy
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8the only thing Yahoo Mail Beta has going for it is drag+drop and a 'familiar look', otherwise it is slow and a bit gaudy imo. I have access to all three and I use Gmail 99% of the time, Yahoo Mail Beta 0.9% of the time, and Windows Live Mail .01%. The painful login process and incompatibility with Firefox makes WLM DOA.
- arunforce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Honestly, I think it's biased.
Gmail head-to-head Yahoo! is about the same. Gmail is the only one with chatting if the person is online, which is a really nifty feature.
Microsoft's one isn't bad, but it doesn't deserve to be rated THAT low. - subscribtion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I like Gmail because it has all the features I need with a clean interface. It's perfect for my usage.
- digiteyes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I love gmail because of its speed and simplicty.. True having all the bells and whistles like yahoo mail does (imitating outlook) is all fine and dandy.. but will yahoo mail run effectively on an older machine / browser? Thats where google kicks ass.. same with google maps.. sometimes the "prettyness factor" isnt all that counts
- aristotle1990, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Unfortunately, I can't use Gmail, as it doesn't have support for integrating other POP email accounts. Yahoo mail beta is gaudier and slower than Gmail, but I have all my POP accounts online, and that rocks.
- ronaldb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I've been using both for the last couple of months side by side, and Google mail beats Yahoo! mail in two areas:
stability and spam.
Stability because it happens about 2 or 3 times a week that Yahoo! mail is unavailble to me, because of login problems, or other problems related to loading a page. Never have this happen with Google mail.
Spam because I get No Spam (C John Dvorak) on my Google account, but some of it is slipping through on the Yahoo! side.
Both products are still marked as Beta, but I think Google mail is further down the path of a release version of their mail service. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6microsoft should just give up...useless piss stain of an email service....stop jumping on other's bandwagons you friggin hobos...
gmail : high-five (THWAP!) - JustVince, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I haven't tried Live but I have tried Yahoo and Gmail. I agree I hate the huge ad on the right in Yahoo. Plus I love the POP access with Gmail.
- qkslvrwolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Hilarious. The MS one, running on windows server 2003, no doubt, is the buggiest and the slowest. Absolutely ROFLMAO.
- ChanKaiShi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Yahoo mail beat Gmail? Cmon. Yahoo does not give you integrated chat, POP3 access, email forwarding, clean interface, ability to archive instead of delete messages, no threaded view, ability to use different incoming email addresses, ability to have spamfriendly email (gmail with plus sign). At this point Gmail does everything Yahoo does plus tons more of usefull features. Yahoo just AJAX enabled their old bloated interface and thinks it's now greate contender to Gmail.
- adalgiso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Never used Yahoo or Live Mail, but I've had Gmail for over a year and a half and I love it. Works seamlessly with any POP3 mail program I've ever used.
- kuya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5True. Hotmail's Live Mail is pretty weak compared to Yahoo and Gmail.
- RonAcierno, on 02/07/2008, -1/+6anyone that wants a gmail account e-mail me at ronrja@gmail.com ... i have 99 invites
- dmoney06, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6that is the cheesiest website I have ever seen,
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I Agree with you there. Its the ads that are is a big turn off for yahoo beta. they are way to big.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I Use them all, And Yahoo Mail i Like the interface I Just dont Like the BIG advertisment they put on the right. Gmail would Be AWSOME if they had i dunno more Color? or something I use Gmail the most and Like it the best. Now as for Live mail.. I hate it.. not much more i can say about it other than i dont like it one bit.
- Complexium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I love Gmail.
- redfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Gmail is just so much simpler right now, although I still prefer folders over Gmail's "labels". Yahoo Mail Beta sometimes takes forever to load properly.
- bstock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Has anyone noticed that Yahoo's new messenger now carries an ad on the bottom of the main window? WTF is up with that.. reminds me of AOL's messenger (which I hate..).
I wish Gaim supported webcam viewing. Hopefully it does soon and I can dump Yahoo's Messenger for good. - yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Gmail rocks.
Feel free to mod down if you disagree. - 70ny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Our educational system is really failing. It seems like very few people know the difference between there, their, and they're.
- e03179, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Having used the Yahoo Mail beta for a while as well as GMail, I like Yahoo Mail a lot better.
Having used MS's Outlook Exchange webmail for a while, I like it better than Yahoo Mail.
Live mail isn't worth using.
That said, I use GMail most of the time because of how fast it loads and becasue of GTalk. - JuliusErving, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It really pains me to see "there" instead of "their" in the description. =^(
- Gryffydd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm not sure why aristotle1990 got modded down [cough]*google fanboys*[/cough] but he brings up a good point. I would use Gmail a *lot* more if it had the capability of integrating my various other POP and IMAP accounts. Yahoo lets you do this...Gmail doesn't.
- joelito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I won't down mod you, but i'm aware of the recent events regarding google and user's privacy and compared to yahoo, i think i'll stick to google. At least they wouldn't give my info to the authorities without a court order.
- xmpcray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I have never been able to open my hotmail account since I signed on for the beta...it is too damn slow...(and it somehow hates firefox...i wonder why?)
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i agree, although I understand MS concerns about this changing busienss model, their management must be so distracted that everything they have been puting out recently has been total crap.
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I completely agree bionicpill. At first I despised the labels in gmail but then when I finally got access to yahoo mail beta a few months back I realized how much simpler and easier it was to find my email in gmail.
- raynevandunem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3ROFLCOPTER.
- bionicpill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's all about search. If you need to find something; search for it, and bam it's there. I don't even use labels because the search works so well, and i have to waste no time trying to organize my mail in a meaningful way. Labels are better than folders still because you can label an email with multiple things, which you can't really do with folders. Let go of old email paradigms and free-your-mind. Seriously it's so much nicer.
- cbonanno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Gmail all the way for me! Fast and Spacious
- pkulak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Momoru
I'd rather it let through 100 spam messages then trap one real one. If there's a possibility that a real message is flagged as spam, you have to search through all your spam messages on a regular basis. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't like yahoo mail beta, doesn't feel right, slow as hell just like outlook. gmail is more elegant
- strom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Comparing "there" features?
where? - LoneBannana, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh man. Gmail?
the great thing about gmail that I like is NOT ONLY Gmail.
there is google calendar, google notebook, hell, I'm even playing with google spreadsheet.
now if there was only a way to make text documents on my Firefox browser that can open and be saved as .doc files... oh wait! There is! AjaxWrite
Not google, but still handy!
Even have IM and mobile messenger (which is handy when you want to text a cell phone from your browser)
Yeah. No need for anything else...
Yet. - DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Google did buy Writely a while ago, you can bet 'Google Word' is in the laboratory.
- ethernet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3GMail Rocks!!
- billybob476, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Labels and folders do pretty much the same thing. I haven't used the new Yahoo mail but I have accounts on Live and GMail. Windows Live mail is VERY slow and VERY cludgy. I'm tempted to opt out of the beta and go back to standard hotmail.
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3there is a firefox extension 'gmail skins', i am not using it because it had some minor issues but it does have potential.
