- AmadelaJake, on 10/10/2007, -0/+35it's Firefox 1.5.0.7 with Flashblock, Noscript, Fasterfox, Tabmixplus, and Firesomething addons
- MackDiesel2010, on 10/10/2007, -6/+36"Comes with FlashBlock and NoScript"; trading features for speed isn't noteworthy.
How about a faster firefox that also lets me expand digg comments? - crazlunatic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25has anyone actually tried this and see substantial benefits?
- chugger1992, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24wasn't that the Firefox project's _original_ goal? Y'know, have a fast browser, with many features?
- P373Y, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18you can change a setting in your profile to automatically expand the comments.
- lostboy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Honestly, why would a download Firefox from a third party site when there is no evidence of how it was made, what the executable contents are, where the home page for the site is.
I'm not saying that there is anything illegitimate or dodge about this, but I am not filled with confidence. - akf2000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14This looks ***** dodgy, is it pure malware that it so badly looks like then?
- KennMac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I think you misunderstood his comment. Expanding all the comments typically makes Firefox as slow as an old dog.
- zetec, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10This is a joke. Chances are most digg users are more than capable of downloading a few extensions of their own, and still retain more functionality than this piece of ***** offers. Furthermore, I'm not trusting any Firefox downloads that don't come from Mozilla.org.
- GMorgan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7No. Originally it was meant to be lightweight, with extra functionality provided by extensions for those who wanted them. However they lost their nerve and unfortunately the core of Firefox is now polluted beyond redemption*. There is nothing wrong with extensions and most of the stuff that is being moved into the main package should instead be extensions, perhaps with a default release with them installed and an optional minimal release.
This would make Firefox much better.
*I agree with all the stuff that has been added but it shouldn't have been done as it has been done. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8you don't have to install it because it's portable
- istatic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Oh, you know me so well megadimanus. I will have to repay you one of these days for all of the free porn you supply me.
- doshindude, on 10/10/2007, -7/+11oh really? so it's basically incompatible with 80% of FF addons now. niiiice. Lame.
- emehrkay, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I'll try it out for you. I had to restart firefox, using the taskmanager so that i could continue my session, more than four times today. I hope this wonder edition helps out.
- fugeelama, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5You can do this anyways with a newer version of Firefox:
http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
Check out the rest of their site for other "portable" apps that you can just install to a thumbdrive and run from anywhere. - hpfreak26, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Wow, someone's sarcasmo-meter was a little off today...
- Aythun, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6So basically, it's a closed-source, unofficial Windows-only build of Firefox with no decent change log or anything other than claims that it's faster. And it claims that bundling addons makes it faster. I'll stick with the Minefield trunk and Konqueror.
- culpn8r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Buried. Outdated version of Firefox + Add-ons you can already easily get = Waste of time
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3you have to add digg to the trusted websites in "no script" add-on
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4yeah, the first thing i checked was the url and made sure it was from mozilla.. .it wasnt... firefox even says not to dl from 3rd party sites to make sure you dont get screwed over. this looks just like this
- jambarama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Nah, I ran the installer in a sandbox (altiris svs, and a blank xp vm) with wireshark running - it came back clean. It doesn't touch anything it shouldn't or connect anywhere it shouldn't. All said though, this is just firefox 1.5 portable with a few extensions - like fasterfox, noscript, and flashblock. It won't run while another instance of firefox is running, so you can't launch this and your regular firefox install to see which is faster, but it didn't feel any faster launching. Navigating didn't feel any faster either, but if you've disabled prefetching, this one might seem a hair faster. Of course I already have adp, filtersetg, noscript and fasterfox installed.
All in all an unimpressive "release". - Nanobe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Firefox's original goal was to provide just the features that most people use, and have an extension system for anything else. However, I'm not sure they're using a very scientific method for determining which features "most people" use.
- joegibes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Or just wait a month or two for the new comment system (it's supposedly more like the old, i.e. without Ajax loads).
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Flashblock is really pretty pointless, considering NoScript blocks flash if you set it to... -_-
- Mejogid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You're still running an unknown executable. If you're prepared to deal with the consequences (maliciously intended or otherwise) then great (I've downloaded it and can see no real improvement) but it's not like his misuse of terminology invalidates his point.
- Nanobe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2David Baron and others have done a ton of work on the memory issues. With something as complex as a web browser, it must be really hard to pinpoint the exact sources of the problems, but I've heard of lots of memory issues being fixed during the Firefox 3 development process.
- BlackOut2300, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Kaspersky AV 7.0 detected a trojan in the Server #3 file: Trojan.Win32.KillAV.ko
- crazed792, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2As far as I knew, a lot of the firefox updates are done for security reasons... If you were to get this, how many known flaws are there (already) on the core used, and do they patch those holes? If not, is the speed actually worth it? I would stay official.
- sirmichael, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Tried it and it was faster. BUT I did notice that you cannot use the digg button on the digg website using firefox wonder edition.
- andregriffin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2well, that doesn't really seem that great. I bet I could run windows 98 pretty fast on my new machine, but why run something older with less features?
- HonoredMule, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Holding to that route would have eventually backfired...about the time our extensions started needing their own extensions.
- extrasalty, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I used his versions for years- seems faster when optimized for different platforms- older computers(PIII) love it. I highly recommend it instead of this. Just google "tete firefox"
- Chesh, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I was expecting some sort of viral marketing, like I extract 'Wonder Edition" and it turns out to be Opera.
- jackbauer007, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3http://www1.plala.or.jp/tete009/en-US/software.html this is the fastest firefox
- Kevin108, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2It's outdated and lots of popular extensions won't work with it, so what's the point?
- goblindegook, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Still, running it could put your privacy at risk. I'm not getting anywhere near this until I see the source code. If, on the other hand, this is just a regular, optimized build of Firefox with a few add-ons thrown in, then I'll roll my own, thank you.
- steppres, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I tried this and in comparison to Firefox 2, it's loads faster, especially on this 800mhz P3 I'm using. Scanned with NOD32 - no trojans.
- ronaldb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1(deleted)
- HonoredMule, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm rather thankful that they instead raised the bar on defining what most people (should) use. For a semi-hypothetical present situation example, I'm hard pressed to think of any group that has a good reason to be without access tab mix plus's features by default. Is that reason enough to assimilate it into firefox itself? No, but where do we branch when someone decides he wants the power of firefox+tabmixplus extended with a more feature rich session management system in place of tabmixplus' session saving (which for me and my preferred settings doesn't work). Fork tabmixplus, extend it, or make an extension that aggressively overrides tabmixplus? Suddenly we'd be a lot happier if what tabmixplus did was core so it could be cleanly extended.
Short version: It's only natural for a baseline feature set to evolve, and holding that back can also hamper cutting edge development for the "enthusiasts." - kolten27, on 03/16/2008, -0/+1ur a ***** toolbag
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1you have to add yahoo to the trusted websites in the Noscript add-on settings
- ronaldb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1From the clarification page:
"Why my antivirus detects a possible trojan ?
Don't worry, it's just a false positive. In the self extracting archive you've downloaded, there are two different FirefoxWonderEdition.exe executable files. When you run the first FirefoxWonderEdition.exe file, it will start the the second FirefoxWonderEdition executable trying to set the system priority for this process to an higher level. This kind of activity may be seen as a threat from an antivirus but there isn't any danger for your system.
If it makes you feel more safe you can delete the first .exe file and do its task manually: start Firefox, open task manager and change Firefox priority to high with a right click on FirefoxWonderEdition.exe."
So, there's no need to worry. They said so! - elk1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1the memory leak in 1 was also a pain in the ass, hopefully they deal with it by version 3.

- crazed792, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0No script makes firefox safer, I agree, but I doubt that with it, there are NO vulnerabilities...
- Matt174e, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1if you set it to.

What is Digg?
