http://www.msblog.org/?p=410 - markos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Do those betas expire when the real product comes out?
- ayeaye, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12At least the OS isn't named after some cat....
Whats the next one after Leopard.. Liger???? or how bout Hello Kitty? I'm pretty sure Apple can work something out with Sanrios - gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I'm sorry. I didn't see that you submitted it to Digg already.
Everybody Digg http://digg.com/software/Get_Vista_beta_2_later_this_year
Once again I'm really sorry about that. - coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7If they run anything along the lines of the XP beta, then yes.
- msblog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Aww thats no good...I hope ya'all get in..Its a busy beta...thanks for reading my digg :)
- LabThug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"...enables you to sign up to *either*: ..."
God, I hope it isn't one of those exclusive eithers! - thelsdj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3winfx is just a set of apis for C#/vb.net, just like the .net framework, asp.net or winforms
- luke--, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wonder when the public beta will come out. Hopefully this sign up page means soon. I've got a drive just waiting for Vista goodness.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Will that stop us from using them? If they run anything like any other piece of warez...then no.
:) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I play Call of Duty 2, buy only when the tv isn't available for console games. I don't play PC games other than that anymore because, as nice as the graphics are...the games are dull and tiresome.
- JakeMcMahon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No UK. Digg anyway.
- TheJenks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why only the US? MS sells this everywhere but only want US opinion? Thats seems a bit stupid and a way to alienate everyone else a bit.
- MoonKing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, because everyone knows that if you aren't down with microsoft's new products, you're instantly Jobs' bitch.
- computerjoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2USA and Canada. That sucks. :(
- dazzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the pre-release of office 12 is allready circulating in newsgroups i got my copy up and running its remarkable stable and shiny without service packs this is a first.....
- kenstone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I signed up with Firefox with no problems at all.
- cyberghost232, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the only OS ive downloaded was Max OS for the X86. cant get the audio to work on my soundblaster card. other than that, runs ok. tried the media center edition and didnt care for it that much either.
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Do we get full versions if we test them? :)
- Legato, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6time to get a new hard drive to put this on... the "ooh shiny factor" is overriding the needed caution when approaching a Microsoft product.
- MemoryDump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this only happens IF you didn't have your email address verified with MS before. I just confirmed this since I just got this error message however I still got the email from MS to confirm/validate my email address. Once this was done I was able to visit the link in this digg and complete the beta registration ERROR free.

Thank You!
Thank-you for your interest in Microsoft product Betas. Your participation will help you evaluate Microsoft-based technologies and prepare for deployment in your environment.
You can expect to receive your TechNet Flash e-newsletter with customized Beta content shortly. Thanks again for registering. - PrettyBoyFloyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I played with an earlier Vista beta last October and will be interested to see how much it has changed over the past few months. It installed okay on a 2.8Ghz P4 with 512Mb RAM. Ealier Digg article suggested we should really have at least 1Gb RAM to really work with it, but for testing purposes, 512 should be fine. Once I get a real system up and running with the final release, I will make sure I have > 1Gb.
- kc7gr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Just because I'm being ornery...
Vista = Still more bloat + DRM + (allegedly) "trusted" computing + Who knows if Redmond put backdoors in it = No thanks. Windows 2000 Pro does EVERYthing I need to do, with my existing hardware, and I'm sticking with it.
Come to think of it, you couldn't PAY me to look at Vista... - asmodeus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3ewww, _cls in the namespace. I've seen enough naming ugliness like that in the source code of the company I work for - although at in this instance it appears that they're not prefixing the class names with cls like some of the stuff here is. It's kind of odd, it looks like a Java package name, and the lower case first letter of the function name also reminiscent of Java naming conventions.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ok.
dont worry, if you dont get selected, theres still the intarweb ;)
im not even gonna try to register - 06metzp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Worked just fine in Firefox for me, too.
- xxdesmus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I signed up through Firefox this morning, so perhaps they fixed whatever the problem was.
- prosthetichead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Also to the above about the only in USA thing. I think its just a language thing as you can choose any country on the next sign up page let me choose Australia with no problem.
Although the same thing happened on that whole get a free USB key scam Ooo I mean give away, and I'm still waiting for my USB key! - yensed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nope.
- evolvedlight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This beta is already out - I got a copy from MS UK in Reading. Be warned! It crashes approx every 10 minutes. I have only every managed to shut it down successfully once. There are limited Vista drivers available. It is slow. It will end on 30/9/2006, and will not work after this. This is set by the system time so you could keep changing it back to keep it working. It comes with a nice Media Centre. Minesweeper has improved. There is a 3D chess game. The start menu has become even more sucky than before. The control panel has improved. It comes in x86 and 64 bit versions.
S - AHIGHERGOD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3- me for it all you want. But I really dont give a ***** about Vista. Yes, I use XP. No, I dont game anymore on a PC.
- ayeaye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Good. Now you can go back to sucking up Job's crap
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+10You stupid fanboy.
When will ppl like you realise that whenever most thinking people see a post with 'M$' in it they immediatley skip the the next one because its plainly obvious that nothing youy say will have any worth whatsoever! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I just tried through firefox and no dice, stick with IE, it seems to work
- skooter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1US/Canada/Latin America only
sux - soundman414, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2i wonder how similiar the windows fx programming language is compared to visual basic .net or C#. i hear that they are ditching .net for native code i just hope that doesn't mean a huge change in the format of the language
- jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2badass!

Windows is transforming into KDE knockoff? : )
Not to sound like someone using M$ in their post, but I seem to remember claims that Linux was too hard for the average Joe user because of "all the admin crap" one had to deal with just to do simple tasks. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Portuguese / Brazilian : http://www.htk.com.br/noticia.php?noticia=291

Go Microsoft! - yensed, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4So, exactly what version of Vista is this? Vista Junior,Teen,superhero/version-no-1-will-buy ? Really though, how does that work?
- prosthetichead, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I had the same problem. Could not get it to finish the sign up in firefox, then worked fine in IE7
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2just signed up, hope I get to do a vista beta.
- snipes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Nope.
Not yet...
-runs- - defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2just out of curiosity, has anyone gotten busted from getting an OS from p2p?

- zouhair, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
they're funny - AnotherName, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4i'll try vista once service pack 1 comes out.
- windhawk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1When I tried to sign up using FIREFOX, the MS website would NOT complete the process. When I switched over to IE I was able to complete the process. This is BOGUS browser discrimination.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Ruffling through Bill's junk is not the way I wanted to spend my time.
Vista is irrelevant now. People have choice. -
