- akkibaba, on 12/07/2007, -0/+4There's a non-free program that chemists use called ChemSketch, which is used for building models of molecules. It seemed like a niche product, so I was pleasantly surprised to find an equally good FLOSS version. This just goes to show that Free versions of scientific software are definitely feasible.
- robbyjo, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2It's a norm. Not only MATLAB or Mathematica or Maple, but also many other general-science programs, like SAS. They require really pricey yearly license.
