- RapidEye, on 09/18/2008, -11/+72I whish Azureus hadn't changed their Gui to that Vuze crapware.
Fortunately, you can still go to "Classic" mode and skip the eye candy.
Powerful ap with great plugins!!! - joshf52, on 09/20/2008, -2/+61I didn't think there was a debate about this...
Windows: uTorrent
OS X: Transmission

lolololol - Junior612, on 09/20/2008, -2/+18Transmission works great on the Mac and uTorrent works well with Vista since I have such little memory left over.
- dmightx, on 09/21/2008, -2/+17I agree. Even though Vuze isn't horrible, I decided to find something more light-weight. I found uTorrent and I have no plans to go back.
- 1807, on 09/20/2008, -3/+16If bit torrent has really taken over, Why do I hear every so often, on this site people still use Lime Wire and Kazaa (lol, remember Kazaa?). The people using bit torrent are the same people that used bit torrent two years ago. I don't believe that mainstream media has figured out bit torrent.

- GetItBuilt, on 09/18/2008, -0/+11Nice Digg. Don't forget Mainline. I love BitTorrent Protocol, thank you Bram Cohen and BitTorrent, Inc for make all of our lives better.

- brutusx, on 09/20/2008, -5/+14Should have just listed utorrent 5 times to make it easier.
- spartan777, on 09/20/2008, -1/+10i don't know why they even mentioned it. last time i ran "vuze" it took more than 10 minutes to load, i wish i was kidding.
- angryfirelord, on 09/20/2008, -3/+11Vuze ruined Azureus, but fortunately it's easy to bring the old interface back. I still stick with Azureus because it's powerful and open-source. That way, I know the software doesn't have "FBI trackers" or who knows what. (since BitTorrent made that deal with the uTorrent devs a while back)
- Sedako, on 09/20/2008, -0/+8Says right in the article: " uTorrent is now owned and operated by BitTorrent the company", of which the CEO is Bram Cohen himself - the man who invented BitTorrent.
- cherwilco, on 09/20/2008, -2/+10lol you PAID to pirate stuff!
- chrisjs169, on 09/20/2008, -0/+8Torrentflux = Resource hog
- goffy59, on 09/20/2008, -1/+8fail
- scy1192, on 09/20/2008, -0/+7Gnutella still has its place, like single files.
- harvinator24, on 09/20/2008, -1/+8The apple community needs utorrent, azureus (zuze or what ever the ***** now) is no longer that good.
please please please make utorent for osx - scy1192, on 09/20/2008, -0/+7isn't it actually pronounced myu-torrent?
- dmightx, on 09/21/2008, -0/+7"MicroTorrent you idiots"
"its ok to type utorrent though"
Why are you calling people idiots again? - spyd3rweb, on 09/20/2008, -1/+7Might as well just stop listing at μTorrent.
- PFS1, on 09/20/2008, -2/+8Nobody for Ktorrent?
- 1longtime, on 09/20/2008, -0/+6You forgot about Dre.
- sp1r1t, on 09/20/2008, -0/+6Hell, I still dial into hotline servers.
- JSwancott, on 09/20/2008, -3/+9Go uTorrent!
- inactive, on 09/20/2008, -1/+6I was a long time Azureus user when I switched to Linux. But after a while I wanted to move away from Java based stuff. I went through Bittornado, BitStorn, and Transmission before finally settling on Deluge. And as far as I'm concerned, it's the best native choice for Linux.
With the "Speed Limiter", "Torrent Files", and "Torrent Peers" plug-ins, it has all the features I used in Azureus; including DHT and encryption. - SuomynonaEno, on 09/18/2008, -1/+6All or a quarter of µtorrent "critics"- coders should come out and help out Halite (http://www.binarynotions.com/halite-bittorrent-cli ... It desperately needs more eye candy to the UI/skin, Deluge-like throttle busting chops and host of other features that are standard in most other mainstream BT clients.
- roxgod666, on 09/20/2008, -1/+6µTorrent>Vuse>Bitcomet
Bitcomet was surprisingly pretty fast the one time i used it. - PhoenixAvatar2, on 09/20/2008, -0/+5That's because it's a torrent abuser. It's coded so that it takes leeches more than it should be based on how much it's seeding. Makes torrents worse for it.
- infiniphunk, on 09/20/2008, -1/+6JAGERBOMBS!JAGERBOMBS!JAGERBOMBS!JAGERBOMBS!JAGERBO...
- inactive, on 09/20/2008, -0/+5Nah, try Deluge. It's lightweight like uTorrent but has a lot of nice plugins; so you can make the interface as simple or as complicated as you want.
- Orcmors, on 09/20/2008, -0/+5^ That mostly a myth. Bitcomet gained its bad reputation with a bug that was fixed within two weeks, years ago. From then on, most of its negative stuff were merely misinformation spread by the misinformed public. Some dude actually did a research paper on the subject years ago and refuted most of the myths.

The research paper: http://torrentfreak.com//images/bitcomet-myths.txt
PS: I know I sound like a Bitcomet user but I'm actually using µTorrent. The funny thing is, the best reason to avoid Bitcomet right now, is the misinformation that is causing private trackers and clients to block Bitcomet. - inactive, on 09/20/2008, -0/+4Well, there are also many people who still use DC++ and DCC over IRC, but that doesn't mean anything. I myself use Frostwire, which is basically the same as Limewire -- as they both use the Gunella network, for music. Whereas I use BT for movies and software.
I would never try downloading movies over anything but BT, seeing as I use mainly private trackers. You can't beat download speeds which max out at over 300KB/s (on my 3mb/s DSL connection, that is). Higher connection, higher speeds -- that's private trackers for ya'. - ArthurSucks, on 09/20/2008, -2/+6uTorrent is great.... If you have Windows.
- Scrappy1850, on 09/20/2008, -0/+4blast from the past, man!
- killdeer03, on 09/20/2008, -0/+4What about Ktorrent?
- noBananas, on 09/20/2008, -0/+4another vote for ktorrent - available in 64 bit version if you run 64bit linux
re Cherubim's comment that ktorrent does not support DHT - ktorrent *does* support DHT - openSuse's version of ktorrent does not, but you can get ktorrent with DHT support from other repositories besides the official Novell one.
If you're an openSuse user, try http://packman.links2linux.org/package/ktorrent - Ebeach, on 09/20/2008, -0/+4What they dont mention about Transmission is that you can check "Prefer encrypted peers" and "ignore unencrypted peers." Also, Theres an option to "prevent known bad peers from connecting" which uses an IP address rules list from Bluetack, the same block lists used by peer guardian. =)
- ArthurSucks, on 09/20/2008, -0/+4Deluge is hot.
