- or3n, on 05/05/2009, -5/+81That's definitely over 9000.
Bravo Mozilla. - ileftfark, on 05/06/2009, -2/+60For those that missed it:
http://mashable.com/2009/03/06/firefox-antarctica/ - Corey2, on 05/06/2009, -0/+35At least they are close, my family has no idea, they renamed the shortcut, "The Internet"
- Lasereth, on 05/06/2009, -2/+36Now if we can get half of those people to stop calling it "the foxfire"
/rage at coworkers and family - shanidachine, on 05/06/2009, -3/+33Firefox is where its at, I cant stand explorer..
- inactive, on 05/06/2009, -0/+25I find it more impressive that there's even internet in Antarctica.
- Xzanith, on 05/06/2009, -0/+24My coworkers and family keep calling it Mozilla.
- enantiodromia, on 05/06/2009, -7/+31FireFox is ok, but I don't think there is such thing as a "best browser" at the moment. I use FireFox, Safari, and Chrome interchangeably, and barely even notice.
Firefox = extensions/add-ons
Chrome = fastest if you use a lot of java based management consoles (routers, switches, IPMI, etc)
Safari = lovely OS X integration
IE = well, it works fine for downloading Firefox and Chrome on a new machine - depro9, on 05/06/2009, -4/+24Open source ftw ;)
- slightlyoffbeat, on 05/06/2009, -2/+21on that day, drinks are on me
- HamstaMan, on 05/06/2009, -3/+21Great. Maybe soon we don't have to take internet explorer into consideration when coding websites.
- s3Shane, on 05/06/2009, -1/+16You don't exactly help the IE side....
- enantiodromia, on 05/06/2009, -0/+13hi, i'm enantiodromia and have worked as a sysadmin and IT manager in silicon valley for almost 15 years now.
now, your turn. - HueyFreeman02, on 05/06/2009, -2/+14I use to be a staunch Opera user. But then it began crashing, and eating up my ram at idle.
Now, I'm on Firefox, and it freezes rarely, and my ram is fine. I can finally multitask without fear of going into a 5 minute lockup. - xXGrimreapaXx, on 05/06/2009, -0/+12My dad used to call it Motzilla or Mozzarella
- w3ber, on 05/06/2009, -0/+11Maybe soon we don't have to take ANY web browsers into consideration when coding websites. (fixed)
- dty2010, on 05/06/2009, -3/+14I've switched to chrome. I set Firefox to clear all private data whenever I close it and now I just use it for porn.
- enantiodromia, on 05/06/2009, -2/+12you dont use Chrome's "porn mode"?
- Baryn, on 05/06/2009, -1/+11What about it being a slow piece of *****, by the numbers?
- MicrosoftBob, on 05/06/2009, -0/+9'Can't stand' != 'hate'.
And the amount/quality of add-ons makes Firefox > IE. - inactive, on 05/06/2009, -1/+10Guys be happy that they actually call it something. I am happe that the stupid blue e logo is no longer the internet for them.
- ozten, on 05/05/2009, -2/+11Wow, that is more people than in Indonesia and almost as large as the population of the United States.
- tnoy, on 05/06/2009, -0/+9My mom calls it foxfire.
- hansrodtang, on 05/06/2009, -1/+10There is more to a browser than the interface.
- Lasereth, on 05/06/2009, -0/+9A couple of guys at work call it Mugzilla. Not sure where they got that from ha ha ha
- asadotzler, on 05/05/2009, -1/+9Juan, see John Lilly's post for more on the multiplier http://john.jubjubs.net/2007/11/27/mozilla-firefox ...
- MonsterRayn, on 05/06/2009, -2/+10If Firefox would do something silly like, I dunno, market itself some, they'd probably have a LOT more downloads by now. It's just crazy enough to work. Lord knows they haven't tried yet.
- mrnathan, on 05/06/2009, -0/+8@mrm3x1can
Ever heard of satellites? - BavarianTomcat, on 05/05/2009, -1/+7really great news !
- k08522, on 05/06/2009, -2/+8Love Firefox
- juankovo, on 05/06/2009, -1/+7Well I know several people who all use the same computer, and that computer only has one copy of Firefox, so there.
- diablozx9, on 05/06/2009, -6/+12Ubuntu with Firefox FTW
- Baryn, on 05/06/2009, -0/+6The memory leak issue has been solved. If you aren't happy with it the amount of memory FF uses, delete your add-ons.
- MicrosoftBob, on 05/06/2009, -0/+6Ask web developers how they feel about these "strange, fanatical, religious" people.
- inactive, on 05/06/2009, -0/+6This is the best news of the day, Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- woody1987, on 05/06/2009, -0/+5Its opensource, nothing stopping you from compiling it yourself.
- steelclash84, on 05/06/2009, -1/+6@Prophetpimp
I'm not sure what linux you are using, but firefox on ubuntu is very quick. - Okinsley, on 05/06/2009, -1/+6that great but maxthon has over 1 million users.
actually i didn't know what the hell maxthon was untill i went to filehippo and tested it.
its slow. dont try it out. Needless to say im back to firefox. - steelreserve211, on 05/06/2009, -3/+8All your browser are belong to us.
- dlinkwit27, on 05/06/2009, -1/+6it was "MyIE2" before it was maxthon. Was the first tabbed browser I had ever used personally, and it was also the first browser I had used that had ad blocking.
- doshindude, on 05/06/2009, -0/+5someone in my dorm calls it MicroFox.
- PaulClayberg, on 05/06/2009, -3/+8Taking back the Internets. Really.
- SethG911, on 05/06/2009, -0/+4Petersonca let me know how great IE is when you develop anything web-based. The reason IE is so bad does not have anything to do with the user's intelligence, as any moron can operate a web browser. It is the fact that it is a poorly developed, mashed together piece of software that can't render the web properly. You should consider educating yourself on the matter before you go flying off the handle about other people's intellect. http://www.w3.org/
- alm0, on 05/06/2009, -0/+4Congrats mozilla
- RyeBrye, on 05/06/2009, -2/+6Hurray for the comment that started them all!
- inactive, on 05/06/2009, -0/+4WTF with the thumbnail??
- DarkprinceArmon, on 05/06/2009, -0/+4sounds like a viral problem.
- Benno, on 05/06/2009, -0/+4I think anyone that has done any serious front-end web development in the past has a palpable hate for IE. It's hard to explain billing 1 hour for html/css templates with the next line being 1 hour for fixing it for IE5/6/7.
- bratterscain, on 05/06/2009, -2/+6It's a conservative estimate. I always change the default for FF not to check for updates.
