- Vindicoth, on 07/31/2008, -2/+62Thats what I love about the Mozilla team, always listening and always working. Before you know it we'll have Firefox 4 to deal with.
- inactive, on 08/01/2008, -3/+31as oppose to those damn expensive browsers.
- solo152, on 08/01/2008, -3/+21I actually prefer tabbing just normally, as I find having Firefox go to the last updated tab is quite confusing.
- iDgg, on 08/01/2008, -6/+22the best part is its free
- hiPpymIck, on 08/01/2008, -6/+20TabMixPlus is updated for 3.0.1
http://tmp.garyr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9178 - huff51, on 08/01/2008, -3/+13you know instead of bitching, you could just use firefox 2?
- n3tfury, on 08/01/2008, -1/+11you should go to bed if you're sleepy and drink lots of liquid to take care of that cold.
- MAGZine, on 08/01/2008, -0/+10Please Mozilla.
PLEASE exercise caution with these new features. I don't want Firefox to turn into a feature-bogged down, bloated piece of *****.
Please. - bratterscain, on 08/01/2008, -1/+10Tools.....Clear Private Data. Also do away with Smart Bookmarks, just delete it in the bookmarks menu. Or just use FF portable hidden deep in some folders somewhere. Been there, done that.
- inactive, on 08/01/2008, -0/+9CSS3 multiple backgrounds plox.
- tomarocco, on 08/01/2008, -2/+10Mosaic FTW
- newbill123, on 08/01/2008, -0/+8Part of the reason alternative browsers gain share (and the reason MS finally decides to support a feature) is because people start supporting these features in their code in ways that are just ignored by IE.
The purely decorative features especially make a difference. They don't make a page any less functional in IE but add a bit of subliminal pizazz to the other browsers.
I realize some bosses declare that the site must look identical in all browsers, but if you have the option, the fastest way to see Microsoft support these features is when the web community has widely embraced them for the benefit of more standards compliant browsers. - pinchduck, on 08/01/2008, -0/+6If your wife and your GF show up at your place at the same time anyway, you have bigger problems than browser behavior.
- estvir, on 08/01/2008, -7/+13The wild cards look incredibly useful but I'm so in love with Opera I don't think I'll switch back.. yet. Though, hopefully the Opera team takes a hint and works on the address bar in 9.5x.
- init100, on 08/01/2008, -0/+6Yes it is, but since these features are experimental, you shouldn't build a serious web site on them and go crying when the spec change. If you do it anyway, it's your responsibility to update your site when the specs change.
But I can't see why it would screw up the standardizing process. - iericg, on 08/01/2008, -1/+7Just installed it... the new tab switcher is sweet.
- natmaster, on 08/01/2008, -0/+5They're also working on SVG in img and CSS. This is huge, this means vector graphics for all your custom styling needs. Combine this with border-images and the possibilities are endless.
- huff51, on 08/01/2008, -0/+5so youve got a monitor for every instance of firefox you have open? gawd you must be awesome! and by "swticher" for windows vista, you probably mean that thing where you have to go and click the "switcher" icon, and then scroll through until you find the window you want. damn, your time must be so valuable. you are definitely too cool to hit alt-tab, we can all see that. omg longhorn! wasnt that how cool vista was supposed to be? not only do you have as many monitors as you need, but you are also savvy with user names! lol
- tomarocco, on 08/01/2008, -2/+7Nice try.
- HigherLogic, on 08/01/2008, -0/+5Yes, Firefox is the leader in web standards... *cough CSS3 and HTML5 cough*
- grimward, on 08/01/2008, -0/+5And you can too, google is your friend, I've had mine happily disabled for ages now.
- BlueTide, on 08/01/2008, -3/+8Frankly, the best part is that it is good. Free is just a bonus.
- helloyamadotcom, on 08/01/2008, -1/+6ctrl+shift+delete
- MAGZine, on 08/01/2008, -0/+4huh?
A webbrowser != an operating system. - Perplexion, on 08/01/2008, -1/+5And if you're worried about forgetting to clear the data manually you can just set FF to clear data upon closing.
- R0B0Ninja, on 08/01/2008, -1/+5So true. If FF hadn't been there, me might just still be with IE6 or lower.
- huff51, on 08/01/2008, -1/+5no, you are retarded. if you dont like a version of a program, revert back to the one you thought was good. just because its out there, doesnt mean you have to use it.
- tomarocco, on 08/01/2008, -0/+3Call me anything you want, but I ain't no jewish prince.
- dood, on 08/01/2008, -0/+3Recent history suggests that it's unlikely there will be any such tunable. The "awesome"bar cannot be disabled with a simple about:config tweak. It requires installing a third party extension.
- diemunkiesdie, on 08/01/2008, -0/+3Whats this about it changing the tab order? I like the way tabs open up now, at the end of my tabs list rather than right after the tab I am currently on. Is it similar to the IE way of putting tabs that are opened recently closer to your current tab?
- championchap, on 08/01/2008, -0/+3Just gives more people the chance to Alpha/Beta test HTML 5 as far as i can see.
Nothing wrong with that! - marcus1060, on 08/01/2008, -3/+6Text shadows and image borders! Yes please!
Now hopefully these are both in IE8... other wise they become worthless to me. - str1fe, on 08/01/2008, -1/+4pace?
- inactive, on 08/01/2008, -3/+5How about fixing the nasty 100% CPU usage bug in Mac OS X. Oh and CSS3 please, including multiple BG's. Finally adds text-shadow..
- electricyellow, on 08/03/2008, -0/+2I was the 1000th digg! Woohoo!
- TheProfessional, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2Does it fix the Cairo/Cleartype font rendering bug that was released with FF3?
- latrosicarius, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2Yeah, I hope the new automatic tab reordering can be turned off, because I use the tab dragging feature to order the tabs in a way that makes sense to me. Like, tabs that i'm going to keep open for a while stay to the left, and the tabs that i plan to close shortly stay to the right.
Anyway, my opinion is the most exciting new feature comming out will be the <video> and <audio> tags, so you don't have to embed any more, or use player plugins.
<video src="myfile.avi" />
<audio src="myfile.mp3 />
as long as people have the right codecs installed on their PCs, it will play. - latrosicarius, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2not sure about that. when they switched from having one X over on the right side to close tabs.... to having an X on each tab, there was no option for that. I had to find a third party extension to make it go back.
I greatly dislike having the X on each tab. Theres many times where i accidentally close it when i click on it. (luckily FF's "recently closed tabs" history is very reliable).
I use the middle button (scroll wheel) click to close tabs, so i dont have the use for an X at all, not to mention an X on every tab. - Hexoddz, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2Not every. It is most likely Vista's fault, but Firefox 3 is crashing every other minute on my machine. Knew I should have waited for Mojave...
- WilsonFranco, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2I'm still trying to get 3.0 to behave on my machine
- mstrebe, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2How about continuing to develop 3.0 until it doesn't crash every time I visit a major news site?
- neFariou5, on 08/01/2008, -1/+3Relax. You know there's gonna be a preference in about:config to put it back the way it used to be. So if you don't like the new functionality once you are using it, change it back.
- init100, on 08/01/2008, -1/+3So remove the "damning" sites from the browser history. But even better, set up a separate account for your wife, and use a password. Then she can browse with her own settings, bookmarks and history and won't see yours.
- init100, on 08/01/2008, -1/+3Why? The awesome bar is really awesome. I use it many times a day.
- down1nit, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2Dinner is definately a problem. I know I can't even eat food without it making me poop the next morning!
- EricM770, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2Now if only they would disable the integration with the IE security settings. That was actually one of the very few reasons I told people to install Firefox, if IE is too secure or whining and crying, use Firefox. Now, I can just say use Opera, as I've always liked Opera better anyway.
- kyle8ch, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2but how long before these updates get to Flock?
- iofthestorm, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2Tab Mix Plus has had this option forever and it's really nice. It makes so much more sense; in any sensible desktop environment closing one window brings up the one directly under it which was the one last used, so why not this with tabs?
- championchap, on 08/01/2008, -0/+2Agreed, the tab switching especially.. I thought that was why we have extensions.
So we can essentially "roll our own" browser. - Kotori146, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1A Greasemonkey script would be perfect for that. An example would be this script which is used to make GMail use SSL:
