- jasonsfakename, on 10/12/2007, -15/+13Very informative for those who have just discovered the browser. Any maybe a few tips for those of us who have been using it for a long time. +digg
- mooninite, on 10/12/2007, -21/+5Yeah because we need 5 front page dupes before anyone knows?
This is ridiculous. Dupe. - shinynew, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7did we need to click through four pages to just get to the start of the tweaks?

and to those who bitch, You can add a button on to your menubar to clear the cache. it will drop down very quickly. - hirak99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Man, this should be called the FF2 spoon-feeding guide! If you have to write a FF primer, do so - still I would advise not to put obvious things which nobody will read anyways; and if you have to write a tweaks guide, do so again - do it separately for intermediate and advanced user!

- gujsg, on 10/12/2007, -12/+0cool
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -13/+29With the new spell check feature, I expect comments to be more intelligible.
Too much to ask?- truegodofwar, on 10/12/2007, -33/+3GRAMMAR NAZI ALERT! Everyone bury retral.
- rprather, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Better spelling perhaps but not necessarily more intelligible or intelligent.
Witness the previous response. - Lzygenius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3truegodofwar: Don't you know that it's the Grammar Mafia? Or maybe you were thinking of the Spelling Nazis?
- karch, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1PEDANTIC PISSANT ALERT! Everyone bury Lzygenius.
- leomyhero, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I fell asleep after the first paragraph
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Firetune has been updated for Firefox 2.0.....performs multiple optimizations in Firefox. However it will install a possible spyware file....Just uninstall after you run it and you are fine.
No need for Fasterfox with Firefox 2.0 & Firetune
http://www.totalidea.com/content/firetune/firetune-index.html - edzieba, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Two tweaks that I haven't found yet: Change quickfind to the proper find (and restore the 'if you don't search for the term by pressing enter for a certain amount of time the bar will disappear' functionality), and allow you to undo-close tabs by middle-clicking on an empty space in the tab bar.
- anon48654, on 11/15/2007, -3/+1I can't make it through the 12 pages. Does anyone know how to revert back to the old one close button instead of having it duplicated across every single tab? Also, is it possible to get rid of the magnifying glass icon next to the search box? I use the enter key.
It has some nice new features, but I dislike the clutter. It's almost as bad as IE 7in that regard, IMO.- YHCIR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8about:config
browser.tabs.closeButtons set to 3 - strotee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5browser.tabs.closeButtons [Integer]
This setting controls how the red 'x' close buttons on tabs appear in Firefox. A value of 0 only displays the close button on the active tab, 1 (the default) shows it on all tabs, 2 results in no close buttons being shown at all, and 3 displays a single close button at the end of the tab bar. - patik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3To get rid of the magnifying glass, add this to your userChrome.css file in the chrome folder of your directory:
/*Remove magnifying glass button from search box*/
.search-go-button-stack > vbox, .search-go-button
{
display: none !important
}
To get rid of the "go button" (green arrow next the address bar), go to about:config and set browser.urlbar.hideGoButton to true.
Now, does anyone know how to get rid of that tab menu drop down on the right side of the tab bar?

- anon48654, on 11/15/2007, -3/+5Thanks guys!
- jmdajr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5very useful!
- dkoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this browser is so good, you need 11 pages tweak guide!
- DieZine, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Sorry, got bored at page 2.
- tito13kfm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Tweakguides is an amazing resource. Their Oblivion tweak guide took me from 11 to 25fps on my crappy computer.
- digitallysick, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Can someone take this guide, extract the good advanced info from it and repost, then i will digg, im pretty should i dont need an article on the options *can read the options himself* i think i can use tabs without a guide...
- beatlenuttt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1can anyone me, I keep losing my bookmarks? this has happen about four times to me. I think I have enough spy ware/anti virus(4) software to protect me.
- Koroush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The guide is the length it is to cater to everyone - from first time users to advanced users. If you're advanced, skip though the first few pages. In fact skip to page 6 if you're a power user - each section is clearly labelled, so if you don't need someone to explain the Firefox Settings to you, don't read it!
If you're super-duper advanced, then just read pages 8-10 (called, suprisingly enough, the Advanced Tweaking section).
I'm not sure why Digg readers have been conditioned to expect all tweak guides to be 1 page of "10 Top Tips to Make Firefox go Faster (Amazing!!!11!!!)"
This guide covers a wide range of things for a wide range of people in full detail. If you don't have the patience then by all means don't read it. - zugzub, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0And apparently the spell checker isn't in swift fox
Either that or I'm completely lost - zugzub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ok if you add
Layout.spellcheckDefault = 2
is it a
Boolean
String or
Integer?
I'm guessing Boolean - zer0ed77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very good guide, for advanced and novice users alike.
