- pennyfan87, on 10/12/2007, -79/+126www.ie7.com
- metsrok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30if you go into about:config, the setting is called "browser.tabs.closeButtons" - the values are as follows:
0 - Display a close button on current tab
1 - Display close button on all tabs
2 - Don't display any close buttons
3 - Display a single close button at the end of the strip - TheDrunkMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -6/+34There is also the hillarious counter-site. I didn't know IE had fanboys.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Huh????
Your comment reminds me of a tech support question I saw in an old Amiga magazine once.
Q - My floppy drive doesn't work, whats wrong with it??
A - It's broken - MikeWeller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14>> http://www.fryfox.com/
"We heard you"
Then why isn't CSS support fixed? Why haven't you moved the menu bar back to the top of the window?
What utter crap. - Cl1mh4224rd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16@redDC143C: If RC3 is without any major bugs, you won't even have to upgrade. What they'll do is just "rename" Firefox 2.0 RC3 to Firefox 2.0.
I put rename in quotes, because the Release Candidates have been announcing themselves as plain old 2.0 anyway, so there really won't be any change.
So, like I said: If nothing is wrong with RC3, then you'll already have the final version (the same goes for any potential, future Release Candidates). - djdigital, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Just install Nightly Tester Tools!

"Firefox 2 is outdated... just get Firefox 3 newbs"
Firefox 3 is not a full release or stable release, so newb isn't correct. just a comment not a hate shout ;) - mrkmrk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Are you kidding me? FF2.0 is ***** /blazing/.
- cragga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9thank you very very much :)
- cavemonkey50, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8That's coming in Firefox 3. The current alpha builds already have it working.
- riffic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This shouldn't have been linked directly to the ftp, people should be going through releases.mozilla.org which is properly mirrored
- BamB00, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Unless you want to use (more like testing) the alpha build. Firefox 2.0 rules
- redDC143C, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Question: If I install RC3, will it update to final version via auto-update? Or will I need to reinstall everything again? If it's the former, I will be upgrading my office PC's (23 boxes total) tomorrow! :D
- jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9RC3 is a ton faster on G4 Apple machines. I had switched to Camino but the speed improvements are so noticeable I might be switching back over. Haha it already caught a couple spelling errors in this chat box alone.
- hobbsy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I have the same problem - it's hard to describe....
basically if you open a JPG in a new tab, the size of the tab goes massive (to the size of the new image). very annoying - Zsinj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I can't stress this enough: If you have problems with Firefox, search through the bug reports at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org. If you can't find your problem, submit a report of your own. There's a decent-sized community that will sift through the reports and ensure it gets the attention it deserves.
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8um, one was a story about it going to be up soon, this one confirms its up right NOW. so stop complaining about your false-complaints.
- Schelske, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9There are lots of reasons, but only one that needs to be said:
Automatic in-line spell checking of any open field in your browser. No plug-ins, no third-party. Simple, always-on spell checking. If you blog or use forums, this is a huge benefit. - CiscoTM, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9And did u submit the bug ?
- charmedguy18, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8There's STILL that bug where if I have a photo open (http://site.com/random.jpg) and another tab open, it makes a big strange indescribable thing happen. I hate it!
- tethead, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8thanks. strangely, download links from the main mozilla site are not up yet, says check back at 5 PM Pacific time. guess they have to spread it to the other mirrors...
- selkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Or even cleaner than installing Nightly Tester, type about:config in your address bar and then type 'compatibility' in the search box, one value will be:
extensions.checkCompatibility
It will be set to true, just toggle that value to disable checking the extension version support. All your extensions will now work.
I've been doing this since RC1 and I have yet to find an extension that doesn't work with FF2.0. Running RC3 now and everythings cool. - mrkmrk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm on it right now. Installed the newer version of Tab Mix Plus from their site, and updated everything else with Mr. Tech. Everything is perfect. And speedy :D.

"Firefox 2 is outdated... just get Firefox 3 newbs"
Firefox is Firefox and as long as nobody uses IE, I'm fine.

People who download this should take time to report any bugs in it so they could get out of RC2 quicklier and be helpful to the community. - Solan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Memory leaks, startup speed and overall performance issues when opening multiple tabs are quite longstanding issues that are STILL NOT fixed in the current Firefox 2.0 RC3 release even though they are very well documented and widely reported....
- SubWolf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4For those on Linux, dont forget the optimized builds at http://getswiftfox.com/ - should see RC3 on there within a day or two, although a build was made yesterday that may be good enough.
- compu73rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Since it's "indescribable" you may want to provide a screenshot so we're not left imaging what this bug is....
- osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Greasemonkey worky again!
- torifile, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Why the digging down? It's a fact - FF is ugly on OS X.
- FastZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Doesn't and has never did anything like for me on any of my computers I've ran Firefox 2.0 on, and that's with beta 1 and 2 and all three release candidates.
- CiscoTM, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3good now i got something to replace that IE 7 in Vista.
Also runs well in vista :) - SSUK, on 06/12/2008, -0/+1Yeah... For Firefox 2, idiot.
Edit: I'm terribly sorry, I thought this was for FF3 RC3, not FF2. Very, very sorry. =( - cragga, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9question before i upgrade, can you disable the little (x)'s to close every goddamn tab? those things are ugly, annoying, and defeated by my middle mouse button.
- jasutton, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Using it to type this on Debian Etch. It works well, and I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes 2.0 final. I rolled a deb (with the official icons even :) ).
- Promantarius, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5"-1? How is anything I said in that comment wrong?"
I don't think people seriously believe that RC3 will have the same version number as the final release, there's always a minor change to increment it -_- - plnegative1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/2.0/releasenotes/
- quackslax29, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9microsoft is a few steps behind as far as web browsers go. mozilla's new edition makes IE look like erols dial up explorer from about 10 years ago.
- cpemma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Trokt color
It was lying, Spellbound 2/UK dic still works. :) - mskadu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yep, got that today morning. See:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mskadu/272964316/
And to reply to cpemma - i am using UK English too. My upgrade didn't say that and they are working just fine. - ineser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thats good, at least mozilla is doing great job here
- puffarthur, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4If your FF is so damn ugly, then dl a theme.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/themes/
There. You want me to wipe your butt while I'm at it? - davidod87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually if you click the RC2 link on the main page it still brings you to the RC3 builds.
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"I don't think people seriously believe that RC3 will have the same version number as the final release, there's always a minor change to increment it -_-"
I don't understand this. By "increment it", do you mean "release RC4"? I believe I covered that in the last sentence of my comment.
Or are you saying that people think RC3 will be released as 2.0.3, 2.1, or something, and not 2.0? - torifile, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"If your FF is so damn ugly, then dl a theme.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/themes/
There. You want me to wipe your butt while I'm at it?"
No, dumbass. There are a ton of non aesthetic things that make FF so ugly. The text rendering is all screwy. Even with a good theme, it's still ass ugly. I guess if you don't notice it, you don't know any better, and it's fine for you. Great. People who *know* know that FF is an ugly abomination on OS X.
I look forward to FF 3, then. But FF2 was supposed to be the one with native widgets. It got pushed to v. 3 a while ago, but I'll believe the vaporware that is native OS X FF when I see it. That said, I'm using FF right now because Safari's AJAX-iness is questionable at best. - easy4lif, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3got it via software update
- JerodSlay, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's so fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
