Thanks for the insight, Mr. Gates. - AviDardik, on 10/12/2007, -10/+172Or get it directly from: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/
- mfearby, on 10/12/2007, -30/+175What sort of a moron actually links to filehippo.com? I mean, come on! That site has got spyware/adware written all over it, and anybody who seriously thinks that these aggregation websites are good places to find software needs a good frontal lobotomy!
The only reason I'm not marking this as spam is because Firefox is fantastic, but I'm torn by my duty to prevent unsuspecting users from ever thinking that places like filehippo.com are deserving of a single click! - larryweiliu, on 10/12/2007, -8/+100http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/
- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -7/+87Because we need a bigger help file.
- there4iam, on 10/12/2007, -9/+73Clarification: crashed like a drunk teenager or crashed on YOU like a drunk teenager?
One can be very sad. One can be very happy. - JSchwage, on 10/12/2007, -18/+75"IE7 is more efficient than FF2"
Pfft. Hardly. IE7 uses upward of 40 MB of memory with only one tab open while I currently have three tabs open in Firefox and it's only using about 37 MB of memory. Next time try looking for facts before making a stupid comment.
Another thing I find funny is that IE7 takes a couple seconds just to open a freakin tab while Firefox does it almost instantly. - Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -10/+59everyone else > people that give a damn about "Browser Wars."
- Eldoo77, on 10/12/2007, -7/+49I think you meant IE7 vulnerabilities > Firefox 2 vulnerabilities
- willcode4beer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+45Hmmm... IE7 vs Firefox
One of these runs on Linux, I use Linux, the choice is obvious.
If MS decides to port, I'll give them a fair chance and, base my judgment on how well it works. Until then, it looks like it will be Firefox.
BTW, here's something for you guys to argue about, system requirements:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/system-requirements.html
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/about/sysreqs/default.mspx
for comedic effect, its interesting that Firefox supports more versions of Windows than IE7. - larah, on 10/12/2007, -5/+48Version 2.0 is STILL in PREVIEW RELEASE. 2.0 is NOT officially released yet. And, to reiterate from someone else, why would i download from FileHippo when I can get the real deal from Mozilla?
- AviDardik, on 10/12/2007, -24/+66Hehehe...
Why would you call a link only to the WIN32 version direct?! - retral, on 10/12/2007, -14/+47Projecting -50 diggs within a matter of minutes on this one, who wants to bet?
- JaytB, on 10/12/2007, -9/+42It's true that IE 7 is starting to be more user friendly now that they have copied almost all useful features from Firefox. I'll still keep using Firefox though because at least they're innovative.

- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18cause firefox is always available on the FTP before it is announced on their website... look for it on the website in the next day or so...
- JeremyL, on 10/12/2007, -8/+20Is this just another RC copy or the actual release scheduled for this week? I am not seeing an official release link on the firefox page.
- chrisgeleven, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Actual release, it is in the release folder:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/ - Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -5/+16My recommendations for upgrading from 1.5:
1. Tools > Extensions, find updates (and install them)
2. Install Firefox 2 (right over the old copy is fine, might want to back up your profile just in case)
3. Install this extension:
http://users.blueprintit.co.uk/~dave/web/firefox/nightly
4. Restart Firefox, then use the Nightly Tester Tool to make old extensions compatible (Tools > Add Ons, right-click on each grayed-out extension and choose "make compatible")
5. Restart Firefox and you're good to go. - sophiaperennis, on 10/12/2007, -21/+32Here's the Mac English-US version:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/mac/en-US/ - magnusbe, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Session saving is now implemented ion the browser. "Resuming your browsing session: The Session Restore feature restores windows, tabs, text typed in forms, and in-progress downloads from the last user session. It will be activated automatically when installing an application update or extension, and users will be asked if they want to resume their previous session after a system crash."
- RipperMortis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I've been using version 0.3.5 RC1 of TabMix Plus since FF 2.0 RC3 and it's working perfectly. If anyone hasn't tried it yet give it a shot. http://tmp.garyr.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3515
- dBLiSS, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16killinger777 is a troll and intentionally tries to get negative diggs on all his posts.
- FastZ, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16Is it just me or do most people who post comments on digg never actually read all the comments already posted? There are like 15 people who commented saying they didnt think this was an official release when they'd *****' find out that it was if they read the first 30 comments. Idiots.
I'll be downloading it when I go home for lunch. They restrict the software we run on our work computers so I cant download it here. I've been running the betas and RCs since they were pushed out. Didnt take FF2 long to grow on me. I've been seeing some of my extensions get updates as well, which is a good thing.
Now quit asking if this is an official release. When the Mozilla guys have a separate folder for FF2.0b1, FF22.0b2, FF2.0RC1, FF2.0RC2, FF2.0RC3 and now FF2.0, I'd say that whatever is in the FF2.0 folder is probably the "official" release. Whatdya think? - Toupee, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16I love how much effort they put into their site, what with the Firefox 1 screenshots and all.
- chrisgeleven, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16Yes, Firefox has been universal for months.
- Lifesaver2000, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12 1. Start Firefox.
2. In the Address Bar type “about:config” and press Enter.
3. Right-Click and select New->Integer.
4. A box requesting the Preference Name will popup and you should enter “browser.tabs.closeButtons” (without the quotes). Press OK to continue.
5. Now you need to select the type of close button you want: 0 - display a close button on the active tab only, 1 - display close buttons on all tabs, 2 - don’t display any close buttons, and 3 - display a single close button at the end of the tab strip (Firefox 1.x behavior). After entering the value corresponding to your preference press OK again.

Since when did not making something official stop anybody on digg? ;-)
BTW - the URLs work fine, as Mozilla have already uploaded the final 2.0 release to the servers, they just haven't made the links public yet. - sputza, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12This is the final release. I have installed it and it works great! From what I read, FF2 will be announced by Mozilla on Wed.

What is Digg?
The Digg Toolbar for Firefox lets you Digg, submit content, and keep track of Digg even when you're not on the Digg site. Download the official
