- desertcamel, on 10/12/2007, -13/+90Not a major release, not even a minor release,
what is a X.0.0.1 release called?
Not worth mentioning on Digg. - cds0528, on 10/12/2007, -1/+74http://www.getfirefox.com

http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/known-vulnerabilities.html#firefox2.0.0.1 - shack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Is it just me, or is that description somewhat annoying? You might've mentioned what the release specifically addressed.. I think we all have a pretty good idea of what firefox is.
Stick to what you would think would make someone want to read a story... not necessarily just copy/paste - mfratt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Whats wrong with 2.0.1? Why the extra "0"
Personally, I'm waiting for the Rush release - 2.1.1.2 - trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Cross-platform user friendly link:

- ojk007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Anyone else find it ironic that this is on Microsoft Software Forum?
@webwormx
True it was CREATED on Jul 4 2006, 02:25 AM.
But did you notice the EDITED line?

Did I go back in time, or are all of you seriously that oblivious? - mitrovarr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Opera fanboys show up to convert the heathens in 5... 4... 3...
- boombashi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Better yet, Firefox 3.0a1!

Oh god, here it comes... - Cl1mh4224rd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11"what is a X.0.0.1 release called?"
A bugfix release, I believe.
I especially like how the submitter just copied the description from the forum post, which was obviously written to announce the then-much-awaited release of Firefox 2.0 (the original post was made in July), not this bugfix release.
This seriously has to be one of the most sensationalized things to hit Digg's front page. As much I like Firefox, this is just lame, lame, lame... - pile0nades, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Changelog: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=494984
- mitrovarr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+132... 1... Right on schedule!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11There are quite a few bugs fixed with this version.
Some critical Java, CSS and memory corruption/leak problems.
By the other hand I didn't have problems with the extensions and they seem to be working just fine.
So you better go and upgrade ;) - Futurepower, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14@desertcamel: This Firefox release is VERY important, because it fixes some extremely scary security issues. My own experience is that Firefox 2 is not stable enough yet. Wait for at least one other bug fix release.
There were 183 bug fixes in Firefox 2.0.0.1, from 2.0.0.0. That means they released Firefox 2 too early, in my opinion.
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=494984
"... 42 crashers, 3 memory leaks, 41 regressions and 4 privacy-related bugs."
Those not liking hassles should use Firefox version 1.5.0.8. or 1.5.0.9, which may be stable. The older versions are difficult to find; this is a link:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
I was not able to find release notes for 1.5.0.9.
In my opinion, Mozilla has been hampered by insufficient management. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11it helped me search how to build a bomb shelter!
- CrookedAsterisk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I wouldn't exactly make a song and dance about the extra "0.0.1" either, but if this is gonna help prevent someone from being exploited by any of the bugs/vulnerabilities, then I guess it's worth my digg.
- repruhsent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I was going to comment on it. It sounded like an advertisement to me.
- muka3d, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14In other news, Opera 9.10 FINAL came out yesterday.
- pile0nades, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"As long as they fix the disaster that occurs every time you try to open a pdf file in the browser window, I'll be delighted."
Here's the fix: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php - klawz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6CORRECTION:
from: Firefox protects you from viruses, spyware and pop-ups
to: Firefox helps protect you from viruses, spyware and pop-ups
I know plenty of people who STILl get spyware, viruses, and pop-ups with Firefox - anyone can be STUPID. - nato64, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I agree. People complain that the Apple fanboys are as bad as the Firefox ones. But I would never digg a Safari 2.0.0.1, or even a .0.0.1 update to Mac OS X.
- J6stik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I'm not trying to troll, but... so what?
The features include: "A Better Web Experience, Faster Browsing, Automatic Updates, Tabbed Browsing, Improved Pop-up Blocking, Integrated Search, Stronger Security, Clear Private Data, Live Bookmarks, Accessibility, Customize Firefox, Next Generation Web Support."
That sounds likes the features listed on EVERY OTHER FIREFOX RELEASE AD EVER. By clicking that link, I found out absolutely nothing new. Besides, Firefox automatically updates, so I probably already have Firefox 2.0.0.1 as oppose to 2.0.0.0 and didn't even notice the event or effect of the change. Nothing of any importance changed.
I swear, somebody could post a story about someone on the Mozilla team making a sandwich and it would get a couple hundred diggs.
EDIT: "Its using less than half the ram it was with 2.0. thats a major improvement from 200,000k to 80,000k (the first one for all the time with 2.0 and the second, 80k K when a lot of windows are open in 2.1.)" -groo68
Okay, that is an improvement, but still not mentioned in the story. The link given in the original submission is useless. - greekgoat91, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7word, this is not big news
- slasherx, on 10/12/2007, -16/+20I continue to install every update in hopes of the memory leak issues finally being fixed, but it always kicks me in the face when it happens again and again and again.
- Nebbie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hopefully it fixes the crashes I've been having since going to 2.0, the only thing that stopped me from downgrading to the previous rc release was the fact that it restored all my pages when I started it back up again, so no problem.
- MarkCiccone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4They've also changed the theme quite a bit!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4yeah, you have to be really really stupid to screw up your comp if you have FF
- dylanrush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yeah.
"Browse the Web with confidence - Firefox protects you from viruses, spyware and pop-ups. Enjoy improvements to performance, ease of use and privacy."
Are these all new features? - groo68, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Its using less than half the ram it was with 2.0. thats a major improvement from 200,000k to 80,000k (the first one for all the time with 2.0 and the second, 80k K when a lot of windows are open in 2.1.)
- suribe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4i'm waiting for the 2.0.0.1.2 now...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2you my friend have one ***** computer if it can't handle the installation of a small program like firefox.
(your new boot problem very unlikely to be related to the latest firefox update.. lol) - torhu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Saiing
Install the PDF Download extension, then. And Foxit, like the other guy suggested. - pras128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Installed this just now, and the only drop down options that work for me is Bookmarks after using 2.0.0.1, just uninstalled and went back to 2.0 and everything works fine.
Anyone else have this problem? - Vaha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I installed the new Firefox but now I'm having problems opening my Live Bookmarks. Anybody have any suggestions on fixing it? I unistalled it but w/o any luck.
- feedmecereal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Try running Firefox in safe mode. Sometimes you can have a bad extension that will cause Firefox to crash, especially if you're forcing compatibility with Nightly Tester Tools or something like that.

- emceepecks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Following up on my previous post:
To anybody who has problems with their drop down menus not working correctly, it is an issue with the themes. Restart and then go in and use the default theme until your favorite themes are updated. - FyberOptic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5And this is any different than the countless Firefox fanboys pooping on the Opera stories?
- MrViklund, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great great! Will download it right away!

- ElementCDN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Crashed trying to download the update using the check for updates feature on my Intel Macbook. Got it the old fashioned way.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ive been having problems with java
its gotten slower - nicerobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I updated to 2.0.0.1 yesterday and it's been crashing constantly, 15+ just within the past hour. Seems to be JavaScript or <form> related. Also, the auto-upgrade kept crashing 2.0.0.0 so I had to download the full package and install it as if it were a new application.
Fixing hundreds of bugs doesn't do much good if they introduce just one bug that makes the app mostly unusable!! -
