- Blizaine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think he meant the exclamation to show he was upset. Kind of like "I just got my arm cut off!"
- cawpin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2^^^lol, now THAT deserves a !!!!!!!!
- saysaknow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why in the hell did you put an exclamation point after the title, wet_napkin? That's nothing to be excited about.

Thats right bcnewman...thats why the makers of digg.com included a SEARCH function, so that those of us not on 24/7 would be able to see if our story is a dup before we post it. Its a shame more people dont use it... - bcnewman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"why do you care? its not even your story." - because ***** get off on pointing out duplicate stories. They never stop to consider that some of us aren't on digg 24/7 so a dup story to them might be new to us. I say eff em...
- locohozt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No biggie. Admitting defeat to the deadline is commendable. I would hate to see Firefox turn into another IE.
- bitz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A wise and reasonable move. Kudos for mozilla, thanks for not releasing something that is not bug free enough. It's far more than others would do... *cough* microsoft *cough*...
- shakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mozilla delays Firefox to fix bugs while Microsoft is known for releasing anyway, then promising to fix it later (http://www.oops-web.com/FoleyOn2000.html).
I know all software has bugs, but those are only the ones MS knew about. - UnlivedPhalanx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At least they are making it better.
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0favicon? Who gives a rats ass about that.
- evil-doer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0when the HELL are they going to fix the favicon bug? i dont get it?? if you dont know what im talking about, its the little picture beside bookmarks. whats baffling is the picture shows up correctly beside the url, every time.. so its not like its unable to grab the correct picture, all it needs to do is save it and display it beside the bookmark. WHY HAS THIS BUG NOT BEEN FIXED IN YEARS?
- babyphatman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0evil-doer - try this extension http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=617
- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Why in the hell did you put an exclamation point after the title, wet_napkin? That's nothing to be excited about."
Delays are exciting! Seriously, though, I'm fine waiting a few more days for a less buggy browser. 1.0.7 works quite well for me right now. - idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What does this have to do with Windows 2000? Lamers.
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0and this surprises... who?
- shakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0favicon bug: "all it needs to do is save it and display it beside the bookmark."
Works fine in 1.5 beta 2. I have my digg favicon up there as well as the one for voo2do and Ubuntu forums. - p014k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Only a couple days tough.
The lowest version of firefox (or firebird) will always be better than the highest version of IE - wet_napkin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why do you care? its not even your story.
- snyy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://digg.com/search?search=Firefox+1.5+release+delayed&submit=Submit
I just took your title and removed the ! point - coder_cotton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's only the release candidate that was delayed for a few days...
- snyy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0because um idk the original should have got dugg um because you submitted a dupe um since people need to learn ow to search
- mutejute, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0will the existing extensions work on this version like adblock, noscript, weather, etc..?
- snyy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yes it did
- Swimming_Bird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm a little worried, my favorite addon doesnt work with the 1.5 beta
- wet_napkin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It didn't come up when I searched for "Mozilla" or "Firefox Delayed"
- joeyjojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0not sure what you mean by 'vanishes' but if you mean 'just doesn't launch' I had that problem. Turned out to be a corrupt profile file. You need to start Firefox up forcing it to prompt to create a new profile and things will be back and running (In windows, you RUN 'firefox -p'...I think...
- omgwtf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They should really fix all the memory leaks :(
- expensix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hopefully they fixed the bug where Firefox just vanishes.
- doofus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think the only solution is to rewrite Firefox from scratch. Game developers do this all the time. Hopefully they will be able to create a new version without mammary leaks.
- troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't wait till they fixed the frickin memory leak in firefox. Not surprised about the delay in 1.5, the "beta" releases were so buggy that they were almost alpha stage... Stability is king.. 1.5 is not a super upgrade more like a 1.2 really. but they have to make quicktime to catch up with ie 7. If they follow the itunes mould we should have firefox 7 by vista time
- terrya64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I stopped using Firefox with the release of the ie7 beta and have since ditched that in favor of the latest Opera beta. So far the only problem I have with Opera is that my banks website doesn't work with it. Other than that it does everything I need it to do very well.
- armbo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0evil-doer: i agree about the fav icon. while this is a minor bug, considering the possibilities, it does seem like something that should have been fixed by now.
babyphatman: thanks!
back on topic: delays happen, i'm surprized they haven't had a delay before this one. bravo, mozilla! (...that deserves a '!', right?) - techieman33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is anyone else having a problem with firefox crashing on the page, i've loaded it twice, and it crashed both times.
- canyonblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"will the existing extensions work on this version like adblock, noscript, weather, etc..? posted by mutejute (0) at 03:01 PM 10/26/05"
the answer is a qualified yes. so far each version of the beta 1.5 that has come out as broken 75% of the extensions including the ones you listed. however within 24 hours each and ever major extension gets updated to work. also since the final release candidate version should be identical to the final release it is likely that at launch there will be no wait.
summary: likely your extensions will work right away, if not within 1-2 days max. - dna42fan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He already said:
"It didn't come up when I searched for "Mozilla" or "Firefox Delayed" - jonesin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's a novel concept: If you see a bug, get involved. File a bug report, post to the mailing list, or play fixing it yourself. OSS is a community effort, and if people are going to run a BETA, they need to take part in the BETA process, not just bitch like a whiny little brat about some particular problem.
- diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To tell you the truth, I've been liking opera a lot more. Firefox has been going down hill. More security issues, more ads.
- Auto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My Firefox never finished the second/third/fourth/so on download if I download more than 1 thing at a time. Once the first is done, it makes them ALL done, whether or not they indeed are.
I guess we have to pay the price if we want alternatives. - Ravenlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Beta 1 was horribly unstable, but Beta 2 hasn't given me much trouble, even with about 15 extensions installed. I'm happy to wait a bit for 1.5 final to show up.
ilyag - what do you suggest instead of FF, then? Now that Opera is free it's a viable alternative, but it's got its own set of issues. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you have the latest beta release of Firefox, go to CNN.com, launch one of their video links to have a new window pop up with an imbeded Media Player. After the video story finishes playing, close that window and... be mesmorized by the awesome stability of Firefox as it comes crashing down, HARD.
This bug has existed since Beta 1, which was released quite a while prior to Beta 2. If they haven't fixed it then, chances are the developers simply don't care about such things (them being more concerned with Linux, where Media Player doesn't exist).
I'm strongly considering telling people NOT to download Firefox anymore. It's just too damn unstable, and not just because of this one (significant) bug. - kungfustickman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm loving beta 2! Go Mozilla. I think the people who have stability issue's either play windows media a lot or have a lot of extensions.
- bmorency, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0mutejute - you might want to use this extension. it will make all your extensions compatible with the beta versions of firefox. i am using it right now with beta 2. it works great.
http://users.blueprintit.co.uk/%7Edave/web/firefox/buildid/nightly.html - greenknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not a very accurate heading. It's the availability of release candidate builds that's been delayed, not the official release of 1.5. And there are release candidate test builds available for the serious tester, sort of release candidate candidates.
- wet_napkin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I don't know why mine got front page, and theirs didn't. Maybe it was the title? I don't know. Sorry. Get off of my case.
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0What is FireFox?
- snyy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Dupe cough dupe
http://digg.com/technology/Mozilla_Delays_Firefox_1.5_RC1 - shakin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0crap... digg screwed up the link I posted. It added the closing bracket and period onto the url :(
try this link to 63,000 bugs in windows 2000: http://www.oops-web.com/FoleyOn2000.html - flaire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0i don't know what this'firefox' and 'microsoft' is! as a matter of fact, what is this 'digging' business?
- KillerJ59J, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0idiggeverything: LMAO!
