- chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7For the last time, RC3 is the EXACT same as 1.5!
1.5 = RC3
RC3 = 1.5
MD5's:
d0cbbd5d8c47fe36ee8f26fb1255838c - Firefox Setup 1.5.exe
d0cbbd5d8c47fe36ee8f26fb1255838c - Firefox Setup 1.5rc3.exe
There is NO auto-update, because as a real RC, it is exactly the same. There is nothing to update to, RC3 IS 1.5.
Oh, and for those who missed the other two comments that already said this...
There is NO diffirence what so ever between RC3 and 1.5.
1.5 and RC3 are exactly the same, bit for bit, and word for word. Not even "Help / About" is diffirent. It is *EXACTLY THE SAME*.
/end rant - chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"a comment on the whole MD5 issue..
whilst i understand that in theory means its the same code, does RC3 display RC3 in the about box? as 1.5 doesn't and if it was exactly the same code how is this possible :-/"
I isn't possible. Which is why the RC3 does NOT say RC in the about box.
Again (for the fourth or fifth time): RC3 is exactly the same. Yes, including the all-important About box. - Potcaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2for those of you who can't download it via safari, all you have to do is click on the "link" when it says "firefox will automactically download, if not downloading click the "link", button."
Well put your cursor overthat button and ctrl click over the link, then go to download linked file. Thats all you have to do, basically your using a fake right moujse button when you use control and click. - dstart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It should say mozilla.com in the description but I can't seem to edit it.
Any admins, feel free to help me out on that one. - mfearby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ukjimbow: yes, there are no more scroll bars in Firefox. In fact, Firefox has removed scroll bar support from your operating system entirely. You now may only see what's currently on screen. I suggest you downgrade to Lynx or browsing the web through Telnet.
- weirdal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1pfft, it isn't a play on the digg design, digg (the original site that is) was a play on mozilla...
- dunstdunst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://firefox2.us
- psyaeger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I refreshed on mozilla.org and up popped "We have a new home!" Yeah!!!
- mfearby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was under the impression that there would be an MSI version of the installer (which would allow me to painlessly deploy Firefox 1.5 to hundreds of PCs where I work). Does anybody know where the MSI is, if indeed such a thing exists?
Running "Firefox Setup 1.5.exe /?" just starts the interactive installer without any hint of any automated installation methods :( - cryptocom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just love the 'openness' of the whole Mozilla enterprise. Firefox has truly been a pleasure to work with, and the fact that you can customize it to be as lite or as feature-loaded as you want is so refreshing. Oh yeah, and if you get a chance, go addons.mozilla.org, and check out the JapanBlack theme under the Themes section. It looks so good with the silver XP theme! It's also the only theme I've seen on there that was made specifically for Firefox 1.5 and up.
- BigDumbGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://users.blueprintit.co.uk/~dave/web/firefox/buildid/nightly.html Nightly Tester Tools forces 95% of extensions to work if you are getting incompatible errors. All it does is tell the extension that it is compatible with 1.5. If it still does not work, wait a few days. This should be the first extension you install if you upgrade the FF version.
- chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is the same as RC3. MD5's are the same.
- VoodooRock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have to agree with the first post. The Mac version needs some serious work. Flash doesn't work at all for me. I guess it's back to Camino to wait until 1.5.1
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To those of you who have problems with extensions, just open up the .xpi, open the install.rdf file in notepad, and change the max version to 1.5 or even 2.0. Throw the rdf back into the xpi, and you're done!
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll say it again...
ATTENTION!!! FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BROKEN EXTENSION, FOLLOW THIS GUIDE:
Download and open up the .xpi with winrar or winzip, open the install.rdf file in notepad, and change the max version to 1.5 or even 2.0. Throw the rdf back into the xpi, and you're done! - opus20745, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Because there is now a seperate commercial entity that will be used for the marketing and promotion of Mozilla.org products. Basically: Mozilla.org makes 'em, Mozilla.com promotes/distributes.
- dstart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Also, check out https://addons.mozilla.org 8)
- scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I really like the Grey Modern theme but it doesn't work with 1.5 I guess I will try modifing the rdf file like someone said.
- Rekkart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0MAC USERS
Just use a mirror and FTP from there...
http://www.mozilla.org/mirrors.html - scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you happen to use the Grey Modern theme like me just to let you know that changing the rdf file to allow 1.5 installation will work but the theme is all messed up. The url bar looks all weird and the back and forward icons etc are messed up also. Guess I'll have to wait till the author updates that theme.
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The only plug-in not working for me at the moment is OpenDownload...and the Silver Skin theme :-(. Noia's nice, but I miss my brushed metal look.
- binnis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it just me or is there supposed to be a gray bar at the bottom with a small red carrot on the left had side?
- phugger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Take a working system (1.07) and install 1.5 -
4 crashes in the first hour.
Many pages have no scroll bars (?)
Tools->Options is invisible (completely transparent) except for the buttons
I'd recomend waiting until it's more stable. - N2EI, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just downloaded it. No server lag. All plug-ins worked right out of the box. It is noticeably faster than the last build. Score another one for the Moz shop.
- *narf*, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone know if there is an rpm floating around for it?
- dude001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks lycoloco for

I did what you said and all my extentions now work perfectly. - akaminki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Site down?
- Cybrwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Chroro13,
Yes, sorry, I meant FC3. Yes, I was "not" getting this with FC3 of Firefox 1.5. For example, go to www.kontraband.com, and click on some of the links on their main page. The ones that get redirected are generating this error. 8(
Of course this could be a coincidence, as I haven't really surfed the web today, before installing this, "official" version. - faithnomore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how can i get the xpi files of the extensions that i alreayd have installed? Are they stored somewhere locally on my hard drive? THe reason i'm asking is because one of my extensions can no longer be found on the web (well, no longer be found easily...)
- bailmark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great. I love Firefox I just installed, I love it.
- triton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Firefox 1.5 and Infinite Menus Problem
See http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=465532 for details and screenhots. - gookie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0oh, that's just a bad design.
- dstart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks for the link deathray, that's pretty neat!
- Cybrwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Chrono13,
I'm so sorry, my keyboard is playing hell, with me, and I screwed up your name. 8( No disrespect, indended.
Final Candidate, is what I should have typed, instead of repeating myself.
*long day* - jiolasa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If Flash isn't working for you, trying disabling Adblock. It looks like it's not compatible with 1.5 (or at least, the version I'm running isn't) and once I turned it off, the Flash was back as usual.
- Thezeppelin62, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0there is like absolutly nothing new. except the options menu.(that i have noticed.) anyway just wait till firefox 2.0 that will own major newbies.

For those of you saying the mac version does not
download properly (seeing "jibberish" in Safari)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
1. Wait until the progress bar quits loading. (It was about 9 MBs or something, so be patient!)
2. Control Click (Right click for those mighty mousers!), select "Save as.." when Safari is completely done loading. Hit enter (it should by default, save as "Firefox 1.5.dmg" on the desktop or something. Congratulations.
This is a problem with the way the download DMG is handled -- it may not have the right headers or something -- when downloading .tar.gz, you get the same "raw" effect sometimes. - StarSaber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am happy about it except the Alpha ticker extension does not yet support 1.5. This sucks because I like to check up on my stocks at work and I can not now till it is supported.
- nickburka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0re: sxtxixtxcxh - "who's the designer?"
It was designed by silverorange.com, the same team that did Digg. - MicahC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Installed 1.5 and lovin' it.
3 of the 19 extensions I use haven't been updated for compatibility yet. 84% working extensions is better than I expected. It will probably be 100% by the end of the week. - Wilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I really like the Grey Modern theme but it doesn't work with 1.5 I guess I will try modifing the rdf file like someone said."
Or download MR Tech's Local Install extension, then choose Make Compatible from the theme entry's context menu. - ziffel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01.5 broke about 10 of my 13 extensions. I'll wait a week or two.
- valen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting... It looks like the Mozilla Foundation (mozilla.org) split off a division called the "Mozilla Corporation" (mozilla.com):
From the "About Mozilla Corporation" page at http://www.mozilla.com/about/ :
"Formed on August 3, 2005, Mozilla Corporation oversees the development and distribution of Mozilla technologies and products, including the popular and award-winning Firefox Web browser and Thunderbird email client. Mozilla Corporation relies on the talents of a core group of employees, as well as a vast community of worldwide contributors, to build and deliver great, user-friendly products.
Mozilla Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation. Established in July, 2003, the Mozilla Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote choice and innovation on the Internet. The Foundation provides organizational, legal, and financial support for the Mozilla open source software project, and governs the actions of Mozilla Corporation." - chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Errors?
Now, all of a sudden, I am getting these with sites have been visiting, unders the FCs of 1.5."
You mean RCs? As in release canidates? Were you getting these errors with Release Canidate 3? Because 1.5 IS RC3. - RMuffin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who cares if RC3 is the same? They called it RC3 incase some massive glitch turned up.
- Cybrwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is anyone else getting "new" HTTP 500.100 - Internal server error: ASP error.

1.5 Final *IS* RC3. The placebo effect is great, but the browser isn't running any quicker. - enki25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh hell yes.
- KdoggMDF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like it; it seems to run much quicker than RC3 did as well as most of my extensions from past and present are working better. I like.
- Rekkart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Still doesn't work when trying to d/l the Mac version. On my machine or a friends.
