- Matteos, on 10/12/2007, -15/+28No, just a 13 year old.
- Flux0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Use a SSH Tunnel.
The easiest tutorial I have found is here. I was able to follow the steps and be successful. Be sure you know about firewalls to configure your applications.
http://www.zunta.org/blog/archives/2005/08/29/sshirking_work/ - Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15It's official, folks. The files are just currently being mirrored to all the mirror servers.
- niiru, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Not available by auto-update yet, so I'll give it some time and do it the lazy way.
- thedak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11could be because he gives no reasons for his preference, so it doesn't add to the thread in any way?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I think we need to come up with a way to really circumvent school firewalls. It is just getting too annoying. Half the time I cant do research because the page is blocked. Ideas anyone?
- puffarthur, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10All my extensions still work. Noice!
- originalcrush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I thought Safari on my macbook pro was fast. Firefox Screams!

- GamerSmurf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Right when Portable FF 1.5.0.1 was release..
- SwornPacifist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8jadedknight: Use a proxy. Easy enough to find, just search Google or Digg
- copperkidd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Hopefully this will be more stable than 1.5.0.1 since it crashed a lot more than any previous version for me. I had to go back to 1.5 on some computers. Of course, compared with IE it's the most stable program ever written. Thanks for the update!
- undauntedspirit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Feels snappier, anyone have a link to the changelog?
- thenikola, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Theres actually been many links to sites explaining that it isn't a memory leak, but yes, memory management has been imporved acording to the change log.
- Ahnteis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7It's a BAD IDEA to post links as soon as they are up. They need time to get the mirrors up first. When it's officially announced, THEN you post a story.
As it is, you're just going to kill the download site every time there's a new release. - flizzoyd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6From mozilla.org "If you are running Firefox 1.5 or Firefox 1.5.0.1 on Macintosh computers with Intel Core processors under Rosetta, you will get upgraded to a PowerPC-only, Firefox 1.5.0.2 product via the automated update system. You will need to download the Firefox 1.5.0.2 Universal Binary build from www.mozilla.com to take advantage of the native support for Intel-based Macintosh computers."
- VeteranRanger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Direct links to US English version on the FTP site:

Mac (Intel): :D

Hope this helps for those who see 1.5.0.1 on the main site (as I did) - thenikola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://www.squarefree.com/burningedge/releases/1.5.0.2.html they actually mention why the "Updater" doesn't work towards the top of that.
- soundguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Use the FTP site folks! That's where I got mine. Works like a charm and downloads fast too.
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5.0.2/win32/en-US/ - M2Ys4U, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Of course they do, it's a minor version change, no API changes occour unless it's for a major security patch.
- Warduke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://www.squarefree.com/burningedge/releases/1.5.0.2.html
- Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Izzie, the announcement on here and other sites are from people who aren't associated with Mozilla. Just people who monitor and use the programs and keep on track of the development versions.
When it hits http://www.mozilla.com/ then it's official and it'll be announced by Mozilla people all over the place.
So you're the newbie for not knowing that. - djfelix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The automagic updater is working now.
Click Help -> Check for Updates ...
The update download for windows is about 557k. Worked perfect for me. - dvdjon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Here is a faster mirror : http://www.sendspace.com/file/mr4h7w
I know its being bashed. - diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Then what browser is better?
- haumschd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.econsultant.com/proxylist/index.html
- soundguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The update works, its just taking a while because they';re seeding their mirrors, they don't want 10% of the browsers on the net accessing them all at once.
- undauntedspirit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thanks, security fixes.... upgrade asap!
- portis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Using the updater, it only downloaded a 500kb patch. Cool.
- Izzie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7what's with the newbie mistake ?
first mirror files THEN announce release, the integrated update function isn't even working more than 1 hour after the announcement... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5.0.2/mac/
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7If you don't like Firefox or Apple posts, get Firefox + Greasmonkey + "Block a Digg article" from http://www.userscripts.com/scripts/show/2206
This will let you filter out articles you don't want to hear about. I personally use it to hide all Apple, Itunes, Ipod links. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Proxies dont fully do the job. There has to be a way...
- qwerty967, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9Community bias and mob mentality are naturally strong in a democratic environment such as Digg. I've learned to not let it get to me.
- TomB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/known-vulnerabilities.html#firefox1.5.0.2
- Kruncher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I am on Ubuntu Dapper Flight 5 (Firefox 1.5.0.1). The auto-update menu option (Help > Check for updates) is grayed out. I've tried it as root, changing the folders permissions, changing the about:config value (which is locked, firefox should be open, not closed :/) and nothing seems to work.
Any ideas? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Welcome to Digg, my friend.
Just about everyone here has posted a story that got buried, only to have another one pop up minutes later and make the front page.
All part of a social networking website I guess. - mistshadow2k4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The check for updates isn't working for me. It didn't work on the last version either. Guess I'll have to download it and reinstall Firefox. I love FF, but this is getting to be a pain and I can't figure out why it won't update Firefox itself since it updates themes and extensions just fine, and I know my firewall is set to allow it to update.
- molgar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2In Spanish (Spain): http://ftp-mozilla.netscape.com/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5.0.2/win32/es-ES/Firefox%20Setup%201.5.0.2.exe
- eklitzke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If your school blocks the SSH tunnel you might be able to get it working on another port (e.g. 8080, which is commonly used for http requests). You would probably need to set up a linux box at home and run an openssh server on that, unless you know someone who will give you access to their box.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3working for me now. thanks!
- ipodman715, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Guess my story didn't get picked up: http://digg.com/software/Firefox_1.5.0.2_Released_
