PS: is it me or i'm too dumb to enter captchas? Grrr fu***ing spammers... - inc4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Glad to see a few people digg it, we really need it so that e can continue to server its growing user base.
- Lutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4R313453: I disagree, we need more people developing "insanely great" things which is not driven by commercial interests, serious open source projects may ask for donation anytime in my meaning.
- cius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I totally digg E! I'd wager these haters have likely never used it. If they have, they likely didn't understand what they were looking at.

mmm, delicious e17. - TheRealToma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think a pre-alpha release would generate some interest. Even if the code is still in its infancy, its stable, and runs, and looks stunning. Throw a dog a bone :D
- Xilon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Umm, the "main" menu opens using the left click :P hehe
- ethernode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You have basically 3 sorts of users:
- people who want a "real" desktop, with lots of integrated features: gnome / kde; if you want real eye candy, use beryl with them
- people who LOVE command-line, and don't want to spend a cpu cycle in eye candy, say wmaker/fluxbox users
- people who like eye-candy AND command line use; e17 is the wm of choice for them
What's great with e17?
- e17 works with ANY xserver, no need for composite extensions or proprietary drivers; if correctly tuned, it can work on almost anything (last time i tried on a recycled computer, was a 133 Mhz laptop with bad graphics support; wasn't that great, but worked flawlessly :p ; on a modern machine, there's absolutely no problem)
- you still use a terminal for your daily needs; there's a new file manager built-in now, an app launcher,...
- animations are sober and light
- if you have spare cpu cycles (like 90% of us), you can add extra eye candy as well
- user-friendly apps are more and more present (the time of launchers hand-editing is over)
- launchers use the .desktop system now
I'd say it's the best wm for serious geeks, people who like to see the internals of linux, not just the upper layer, and who like to use most of the huge power nowaday's computers offer. - eelco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Do you need a paypal account to donate?
- inc4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2no, you just need a credit card.
- inc4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2sorry, the main site is at enlightenment.org and we are trying to raise money so that we can move the site to our own server that will be hosted at osuosl (osuosl.org)
- Xilon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't use E17, but I dugg it. I tested it out yesterday (what a coincidence) and it was great... fugly, but great! The WM is very powerful and I liked all the options (I probably didn't even discover half of them). The effects are amazing. I was amazed at Beryl (compiz), and then I tried e16 and was surprised that such cool effects existed beforehand, and e16 is really old.
I hope they continue to develop it, I can't wait to try it out when it goes stable and some more (beautiful) themes come out for it. - dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I totally digg E! I'd wager these haters have likely never used it. If they have, they likely didn't understand what they were looking at." - Because no one on Digg is anywhere near as smart as the all-might you?
Anyway, the Enlightenment LiveCD was interesting, but I didn't like the way it functioned - It seems like a nice WM, but prefer just to use Gnome if want a "full" desktop environment, or Ratpoison if I want something unobtrusive.
- Ben - TheRealToma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How can you dis something thats free. -_-
All theyre asking for is a little monetary support from the fans of E17 and fans of what they stand for. Its like yelling at a busker playing guitar. Pfft. - inc4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wonder how many more diggs it'll take to hit the front page. Please continue to digg this up until it does, thanks!
- inc4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2also, links on the donation page are fixed.....
- Anrkist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Why do none of the links on the site work? Why does wikipedia say the official site is on sourceforge??
Anyways, if you want to make money, drop open-source. - baalzebub, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1you lose!
- baalzebub, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2no thanks, i don't want to use my computer as a guinea pig for the RastaMan's crappy eye candy...
- Araxen, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2the worse window manager on linux. hopefully they go bankrupt.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1This is pathetic. Spamming other websites beacuse you can't earn your own damn money? Go do something useful with your time, like getting a decent job.
