Azureus on Mac is terrible. The only reason I use it is because my tracker has banned Transmission. It just wastes too many resources, and I notice a pretty big slow down while it is running. - ZennZero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10The author's criticism with Azureus wasn't ease of use, it was performance (it is Java based) -- he was looking for a light weight torrent maker, presumably one independent of the client.
Having said that, is performance of Azureus on Mac really that bad? - NoOneButMe, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12You mean Azureus' Apple + N --> Drag and drop wasnt easy enough?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Apparently not.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Uh.....Apple released the first public implementation of the drag and drop concept as designed by the Lisa/Macintosh group.
If you're gonna be a troll, at least be an informed one and not just a stupid moron. You give other trolls a bad name. - frebro, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Azureus is dead slow on my OS X Tiger system too. A few active torrents works fine, but when you share 50+ torrents it eats up to 1 gb of RAM.
Too bad the OiNK-tracker banned xTorrent... - danormsby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I found Azureus on my 2.1GHz G5 iMac would gobble CPU sometimes as much as 40%. I sold the G5 and bought an Intel Core 2 Duo iMac. I now never see more than 4% CPU utilization by Azureus when doing the same work. Both machines were on 10.4.8.
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Great, this will make it easier for Apple users to share Linux distributions.
- JuyLe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1cavemonkey, Xtorrent cannot create torrents, and it's too bad. Maybe it'll be implemented since it's in constant devellopment, but still, we'll have to pay for it one day...
- Jangles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not to nit pick but you should add Bits on Wheels and Xtorrent to the first paragraph. I am sure there is more as well. Cool app though.
- mypenis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3awesome! easier way to get my porn..er...music...uh...content!
- cavemonkey50, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think Xtorrent supports torrent creation. If it does, how do you do it?
- diggimator, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2zennzero:
Actualy, Azureus works very well on OS X 10.4.
Maybe not so well on older versions of OS X, which don't have Java 1.5 installed.
Not like many people create torrents, at least not frequently. - indiekiduk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Why did oink ban XTorrent?
- LunchB0x, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1oink banned everything that wasn't Azureus... something about exploits in other clients letting people spoof keys and inflate their ratios. No honor among pirates apparently... (sic)
- wrongway, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1WOW the mac has drag and drop??? Just like my c64 running geos??? Apple... on the leading edge of trailing technology...
