- billpoly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Not bad, but I'll stick with Process Library (http://www.processlibrary.com/). Their information is much more thorough.
- GregJ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree... Just search Google for the file name...
- rawr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah...I always google an alien processes, this is pretty pointless.
- masterofshadows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That site has rather annoying colors, back when i used windows (I don't at the moment) i used liutilities( http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/ ). Its rather good, I suggest you check it out. But don't bother with their product, its not worth it.
- spyres, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1---How do you permanently disable processes on your PC?
Start Menu -> Run -> then type - services.msc
Disable/enable away. - mdyoke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Try Process Explorer from SysInternals. It's a fantastic utility and you can right click on the process name to do a Google search.
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html - vdub12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Google here to.
If the other sites are good Google will hit it.
The best thing about Google is you can check all the sites for the one with the best info. - _Caboose_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Can someone help me, for the longest time, all i see when i Cntrl+alt+del is the task manager, no other windows (or tabs!!).. How do i fix this?"
Double click the top-most part of the Task Manager and it should go back to normal. - zipy786, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How do you permanently disable processes on your PC?

- sgtkillmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0processes? we don't need no stinkin' processes!
- hazri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0www.processlibrary.com is great site. thanks.
To permanently disable processes try Start - Run then type Msconfig.
OR get freeware "Startup control panel" from http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml - Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"you don't need explorer.exe, just kill that one!"
ROTFL!
I like to kill all the processes! - LtData, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think I just threw up in my mouth.. those colors are atrocious.
- hayden.evans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dont need to worry about that crap with mac osx ;)
- jralabate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what is the run command for windows XP for Boot.ini? its like msconfig
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just do a google search for the file name. Occasionally that site comes up.
- anagami, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0just use a decent OS :P
- thecapitalizt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"do I need this running on my PC?"
No. (unless its google desktop), i have turned off every stupid utility on my clients computers, and nobody noticed anything (except the fact that they ran much quicker) - paulie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll just stick with Mac OS X =)
- motostamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not bad, but also try
http://www.tasklist.org/ - vemon388, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01337 DIGGS!
Im not even going to digg it, i love the number! - Tom_Riddle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yea well I just Use End it All... Auto kills any unnecesary process... Good luck finding it though. Its not free anymore...
- yakk0dotorg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1it's because people are stupid and will click "digg" on every post.
- siouxmoux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I yahooed and googled it .
- BlueLaser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1First: I agree with the Googlers. That is the fastest way to ID an unknown process.
Second (and I usually hate when I see posts like this): How did THIS story make it to the homepage with over 500 diggs?! I'm very surprised people found it that interesting... - tearor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So who do I sue?
- RabidFurby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yup, just type it into google, thats what I do and I have the answer within a few seconds.
- mousky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Second (and I usually hate when I see posts like this): How did THIS story make it to the homepage with over 500 diggs?! I'm very surprised people found it that interesting..."
Because digg has become popular which means that it must cater to the lowest common denominator. That is why we see "stories" that are wikipedia entries. That is why we see "best of" or "top 20" lists. That is why we see links to blogs instead of the original news story. Some people have setup blogs that simply mirror digg. Lowest common denominator. - GreenwichRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I always refer to http://www.what-process.com for this kind of stuff.
- pillfred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just go to the B.V. link above. I has used a handy one in the past maybe systernials one not sure. Google seems the best option.
- yanokwa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.beemerworld.com/tips/servicesxp.htm is also another good one.
- bakou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with comments about Google. I posted the story as a quick test and was expecting maybe 50 diggs... NEVER thought it would get that high. Thanks to people who posted alternate sites.
- tarrmachine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0you don't need explorer.exe, just kill that one!
- RabidFurby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0AND because people are idiots.
- ~MDK~, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wasnt there a site already like this? OH YEAH!!! GOOGLE!!!
