TiVo need to set up podcast recording just like season passes and let the TiVo be the central server for your home audio and video. - LordHalo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is great. I've had it for one week now but haven't really played with it until now. There are games as well which is a real nice add-on when you're tired playing console games...yes, xbox360 can be tiring
- RichMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow, tivo is really surprising me, you can do so much with that inexpensive hardware.
- shagybones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've had this for a while (not alowed to say how or why) but I dont like that you cannot FFW or Rewind, or even go back to where you left off....it is ver frustrating, but nice if you want to listen to it while you are in the Living room or bedroom. Once they include the option for resuming or FFW/RWD feature it will be a lot nicer.
- Big-Pat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lfshdl, it is on the series 2
ScottNY845, It is being distributed slowly just because you have it doesn't mean everyone does. - mozone13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sign up for new features... http://research.tivo.com/onlineservices/
- silentvirus, on 10/25/2008, -0/+0There are two series 2 in my home and podcasts are no where to be found on them .:(
- kirk06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Like shagybones, I've had this for awhile, and can't really tell how or why...though many can guess.
I will say this: I agree with jgee. Whoopty-doo. A tech podcast is in the tech podcast section of a podcast application on Tivo. - coreboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0awsome, awsome to the max.
- wisewaif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can anyone check the music category to see if my podcast is listed under music? It's called 75 Minutes.
http://www.75minutes.com
I have a Tivo, but it's a Directv one. We're up in the Yahoo rankings, so I figure it might be there. - jgee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0.....i don't get it why is that so surprising...Digg=tech podcast, its in the tech podcast section....OH WOW.
Am i the only one who finds this not as shocking as the author of post?? - Harlequn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i wish xm radio had a tech channel. heck maybe they do and I dont even know it. they have so many channels
- silentvirus, on 10/25/2008, -0/+0What series of TiVo is this on?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0w00t congrats Rev3. All we need now is The Broken on Tivo.
- kurt880, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Vryz
The tivo series 2 uses a mpeg 2 hardware decoder. It is impossible for a tivo to play anything but mpeg 2. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0(cartmen voice) sweeeeeeeeet (cartmen voice)
- mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why are you shocked? Diggnation is really popular.
- dkh7m, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i got the new 7.2 update recently. it's pretty cool. i actually ordered movie tickets the other night using the new fandango app. probably could have done it faster on the laptop, but oh well. no need for galleon anymore, i guess.
- Lynxpro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Flyinace,
You can't pause the podcasts because they are streaming the audio. It would be different if the service downloaded the audio podcast to the TiVo unit, like how the vidcasts will operate. - Lynxpro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
And third...there are 4 million TiVo subscribers, and probably half of those are non-DirecTV stand-alone Series2 units.
There are ways of hacking DirecTV TiVos to use the Home Media features; same goes for DRM stripping from the TiVo-to-Go service. But as always, there are complainers/h8ers who don't own the system so they should shut it...just like Nokia fanbois posting online how Motorola mobile phone UI sucks. - CorpT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It really woudn't be a digg without someone complaining about it. Thanks for your help Scotty. We really appreciate it.
- luke--, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nuts! Podcasts have EXPLODED!
- allthewhile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0omg i must get a tivo!
- SuperMoonMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*Tears* Why must I have the DirectTiVo!?!
- baddmojoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ zaid -
"homely?"
heh, I wouldn't say it looks THAT bad... - ezalis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0But what's strange is TWiT isn't on the list. You have to enter the feed manually. There has to be some statistic TiVo is looking for.
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Come on people USE MYTHTV!!!!!!!! This has been a feature on MythTV for some time now with no monthly fee!
- Vryz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dude, you can get videocasts automatically downloaded to your tivo with Galleon. Subscribe to diggnation videos and other videocasts and cancel your cable tv!
And email Tivo/Yahoo about supporting this directly. It's a bear because you have to transcode (most) podcasts to mpeg2 from mpeg4. - Lynxpro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Why are comments being erased? - piper999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
I tried listening to Diggnation on my TiVo and my TiVo crashed 15 minutes in.
It is actually easier to use podcast software that automatically downloads the podcast and then share it along with your other MP3's. - VetGamerRo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Besides the complaints of having no play controls for the podcast, there is also no screensaver so if you have a TV sensitive to burn-in then sitting there listening to a podcast with a static image is not going to be a good idea.
It's weird too, because the Live365 feature DOES have a screensaver. Seems like a serious oversite IMO.
Also, to get this update, you'll want to put yourself on the priority list at Tivo's site as it's being rolled out slowly. - mrblack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I submitted (as well as three other people) the vidcast support news last week, but my submission was rejected. None of the other submitted stories made the front page either. WTF gives? I also asked how long would it be before the Diggnation vidcast was available as a TiVo download..."
want a hug my dear? dont cry... its ok.... we stil love you. - Vryz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dude, you can get videocasts automatically downloaded to your tivo with Galleon. Subscribe to diggnation videos and other videocasts and cancel your cable tv!

Wouldn't this give you the ability to pause, etc? I mean, you can have your podcaster worry about downloading new episodes onto your PC, and then just access the file through the music feature of Tivo, right?
- iamsjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DAMN!! I don't have the update yet. I just added myself to the priority list over on the TiVo website. If you don't have it just head over to their website and sign up!
- silentvirus, on 10/25/2008, -0/+0>Use Galleon for all your Tivo Series 2 Needs.
Thanks sumyunguy - mentor972, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At least UrbanCoffee.net podcast is on there. :-)
http://www.urbancoffee.net/ - MrLobster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is the first tivo feature that makes me want to actually purchase a network adapter for it.
- jarod3371, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i listen to diggnation multiple times a week. it is funny as hell. i am a 35 year old and alex is one funny dude and better than most of the ***** on chicago radio. download the thanksgiving podcast to catch all the funny moments of this podcast since this year. i think they are good together and screensavers rocked woith kevin and alex although leo and pat were better, but the show did improve with alex, he is funny, give diggnation a chance, listening for 10 min and then writitng it off shows ur attention span. oh well, to each their own....
- drunkenpope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet
Now i just have to get rid of my crappy dish network DVR and switch.
Or i could just screw all that and make a meda center PC. - Shultzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Podcast envy...
Be a lover, not a hater! :) - benblack123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not an expert on this sort of thing, but doesn't it go against the Creative Commons license since you have to pay for Tivo?
- RDurfee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You have to pay for an iPod. How is that different from paying for TiVo?
- tangerine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Woo!
Yes saw the Rocketboom announcement, yet thrilled to learn just now that DIGG is also available!
Great news! - iamsjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just got the update. This kicks ASS! I'm getting ready to fly to Tulsa tomorrow. I launched TiVo, plugged TULSA into yahoo weather and viola! The 5 day forecast for Tulsa. After that, I sat back and enjoyed Diggnation episode 24 for the nth time!
TiVo has really got something here. If they offer up videocasts in the future TiVo will be off and running. FINALLY making a profit!
What was Alex saying about the Xbox doing something like this a while back?
SjN - ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0o yaa..
Seems Tivo is desperate. - RDurfee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Too bad it doesn't work. It just sits there saying "Loading..." I have tried it 3 times and a couple of times I have let it sit for over 30 minutes and still nothing.

What is Digg?
