(just a joke guys, take it easy) - SiXiam, on 05/21/2008, -5/+96Yeah, I can comment without it crashing.
Opera 9.27 WinXP - alpjor, on 05/21/2008, -3/+82Thanks to everyone who helped us at Digg fix this issue!
- Llanowar, on 05/21/2008, -22/+88Even though it is Opera's fault. Digg still should have tested it in Opera right away instead of dismissing its users at first.
- danqueca, on 05/21/2008, -4/+47I agree with you, it was not tested on Opera at all.

- kevdotbadger, on 05/21/2008, -2/+40CAN YOU NOT READ? HE SAID DON'T ASK.
- jp12380, on 05/21/2008, -2/+37Why don't you want to upgrade to 9.27?
- justinx0r, on 05/21/2008, -1/+34Did you just use OGC as a verb? Nice.
- zzz@tkz, on 05/21/2008, -1/+28I'm pretty curious.
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -2/+29and the bug that stops me getting on the front page even though every one of my stories are awesome.
- hiPpymIck, on 05/21/2008, -1/+25well..go on then..
- andyduncan, on 05/21/2008, -8/+30"many were quick to blame Digg"
Yikes. A reproducible crasher in your browser's javascript parsing is in no way the fault of the site that stumbled across it. Let's hope Opera gets the patch pushed out quickly. - ch33sehead, on 05/21/2008, -0/+22If this comment works, then I can confirm that on Opera 9.26. Don't ask me why I don't want to upgrade to 9.27.
- nubtard, on 05/21/2008, -2/+22Great. Now can you please fix the bug that logs you out all the time? Thanks.
- aqzman, on 05/21/2008, -1/+21Ah, this is great news!
Big thanks to both the Digg team and the Opera team! - Ramble, on 05/21/2008, -10/+29It takes 10 seconds to test something, why not just test it?
- michaelothomas, on 05/21/2008, -7/+25JavaScript is a scripting language. It should be completely incapable of crashing your browser. Obviously it would be in digg's best interest not to tickle any bugs that cause crashes. But the fault ultimately lies with the browser, not the webpage.
- TheMachine1, on 05/21/2008, -10/+28Great now the dust will collect on my firefox icon again.
- GeekyGerge, on 05/21/2008, -4/+21Still doesn't work for me.
Netscape Communicator 4.79 Win95
FIX IT NOW - mgrest, on 05/21/2008, -0/+17did you mean "sorry"?
- joeldsouza, on 05/21/2008, -8/+25Yippee....
finally i can comment.... - Niten, on 05/21/2008, -4/+21But why the need to express the browser's user base in binary?
(I kid... seriously, I'm firing up Opera right now.) - BTallack, on 05/21/2008, -8/+24While I do agree that Digg should have done better testing, they can hardly be held responsible for a fault in the browser.
- joestump, on 05/21/2008, -18/+33The iPhone is the the 9th most used browser on Digg and we don't test our site on that either (except the iPhone version that is).
Also, we didn't "dismiss" our users. As soon as it was brought to our attention we started working on a patch, QA'd it and pushed it. Took all of about 5 days to do this. - Mejogid, on 05/21/2008, -3/+18Thank god. I don't know where we'd be without your insight.
- inactive, on 05/21/2008, -4/+19..but now it crashes firefox!... ..no wait.. that was my 207 tabs of porno
- ch33sehead, on 05/22/2008, -1/+15There's a bit of a vicious cycle here: sites aren't designed for opera because of alleged small user base; the user base responds by masking their default user agent as internet explorer to browse sites not designed for opera. The real solution is for all opera users to set the default as "Identify as Opera." Perhaps then the # of opera users would jump up dramatically.
- zxcasd, on 05/21/2008, -3/+17yes...... cause its fast.... can't wait for opera 9.5 release
- yugiohdan6, on 05/22/2008, -0/+13maybe some people don't like the number 7... it DID eat 9 you know...
- BTallack, on 05/21/2008, -18/+31I really didn't understand how it was ever Digg's fault in the first place that a web browser crashed. That doesn't even make sense. If my car's transmission dies I don't tend to find fault in the road I'm driving on.
- cricket01, on 05/21/2008, -0/+13Sweet! I actually found myself doing my work for a while there - thank god that's over with!
- whiteeagle131, on 05/21/2008, -6/+18I wish I could bury him twice.
I agree with Ramble, why not bother spending 10 secs to just test something. Is it *that* much? After all Opera is a modern web browser. - LordVance, on 05/21/2008, -0/+12Yea but it sucks balls when you torrent a good sounding porn and get dissapointed, leaving you fapless for the evening. Instead - you can browse for some nice streaming videos and, if you don't like it, you just click the next video that looks hawt.
Streaming Porn >>> Torrented Porn >>> Static Image Porn >>> ASCII Porn >>> Paid For Porn. - BabyWookie, on 05/21/2008, -4/+16Awesome! The irony is, the new comment system feels a lot more responsive in Opera 9.5b2 than it does in Firexfox 3RC1, once again demonstrating the superiority of Opera's js handling. I actually like the new comment system now. It seemed kinda clunky and buggy when I was forced to use FF.
- ligyron, on 05/21/2008, -2/+14Forewarning: This isn't going to work out the way you hoped
- jjustin01, on 05/21/2008, -1/+13Welcome to the world of cross-browser compatibility
Even if Opera is partially to blame, you should still verify your work. - kevdotbadger, on 05/21/2008, -3/+15Well done for making a fix in a speedy fashion.
- joestump, on 05/21/2008, -0/+11Major enhancements are coming to the iPhone version of Digg. I have a code review scheduled to review the changes in about two hours.
- Fr00sh, on 05/21/2008, -2/+13working on
Version
9.50 beta
Build
10005 - MillionsLivio, on 05/21/2008, -0/+11I was using Firefox due to the crashes, it did seem rather sluggish, and it's a lot more smooth in Opera now.
- merryworks, on 05/21/2008, -5/+16Not so much Digg's fault. Using your analogy, Opera (vehicle) gets you across the road (Internet) to your destination (Digg). Digg should have made sure that their destination is available to all.
- crownedgriffin, on 05/21/2008, -5/+16Even if it was a problem with Opera, they should have tested it before going live. Opera may not have the user base of IE or FireFox, but it obviously has enough to matter.
- MillionsLivio, on 05/21/2008, -2/+12So you've used Opera for five years and now you are deciding to switch? If you really did use Opera for five years, it used to be much worse back in the day, the compatibility with websites for Opera is the highest it's ever been. Honestly, I used to use Firefox before Opera 9.0 came out, and I've been using Firefox 3 while Digg had the crashing issues, it just didn't feel complete. I've never had Opera crash on me before this issue with Digg, thus it's really Digg's fault not simply testing out a huge update to their website with one of the major browsers.
- GeekyGerge, on 05/21/2008, -1/+11A) I never put down Opera.
B) I never praised Firefox.
C) It was a joke. - duckyinc, on 05/21/2008, -6/+16That just shows how well designed digg is.
- Ramble, on 05/21/2008, -2/+12Did one beat you up at school or something?
- alpjor, on 05/21/2008, -0/+10Send us a Bug Report: http://digg.com/bugreport
Or send a screenshot to : feedback@digg.com - Eisim, on 05/21/2008, -0/+10Maybe you can try to click that nice little link to the forum-thread where this is explained??

Opera fixed the exploit that allowed the system to crash.
Digg fixed the JS code that was exploiting the bug in Opera. - alecks, on 05/21/2008, -0/+10Maybe now they can fix it for the iPhone. Front page looks whack...
