      In case anyone's wondering, you can scroll down and read all your comments and see exactly how many people dugg it, buried it, what its final score is and how many replies it got.

      Much easier than returning to a story and trying to crawl through Digg's House of Fun just to find your comment.

    Or maybe a great way to find out if your viewpoints are in-line with diggers who read the comments. Since most people digg up or down based on whether they agree with the poster.

Wow!"... followed by this: "ha ha you bitches. you can bury me (as you just did a few lines up) but it doesn't change the fact that a substantial chunk of digg's frontpage content, every single day, is little more than advertising for apple." Those had 52 and 31 negative diggs while the comment you referenced only had 12 negative diggs.

            I think this probably supports your argument more than anything, but it is Monday morning....
    • redslash, on 10/10/2007, -7/+26Not really. Often times, I'll find that two comments, coming from completely different points of view (i.e., for and against the death penalty), will both receive a decent digg score if they're both well-written.

You can frequently see comments that are hateful and contribute nothing to the conversation being dugg way up. This is most prevalent in political stories. The fact that this biased moderation happens does not concern me too much, yet the fact that comments with negative diggs are collapsed--and thus censored--does.

        This promotes group-think and completely destroys any sense of intelligent discourse on digg.

    • mmortal03, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Yeah, the mob mentality generally comes into play, where someone will digg up a post that already has more diggs that are up, and will digg down the same post where it already has more diggs that are down. They should instead set up digg to where you can't see the amount of diggs until you yourself digg it up or digg it down. I currently use a filter that basically does this. When I first switched to it, it didn't feel right, because I was so accustomed to viewing the amount of diggs first before I made my decision, but that demonstrated exactly what was the problem. Now that I have gotten used to not seeing the number of diggs until I myself choose, I like it even more, because it is a more individually honest vote.

Or, you could provide a link for "those who are willing to wait"; I don't care that it "takes too long"; this page would be so much more useful if it provided a link to the message board of each comment it showcased.

People would've have to intentionally been looking at this post, too, because it would've been buried. Perhaps it was a bury cascade, with people wondering why kevin got dugg down causing them to read it, they agreed, thus digging him down further, causing people to wonder even more why he got dugg down.

      My most popular was on a story about a kid blaming her friends for a "small 40+ people party" that was blown out of proportion via myspace. I said "since when was "40 friends" a small gathering anyway? I must be getting old or something". Shock/Horror my least popular comment was saying iTunes was behind Amarok on an iTunes story. Two things you can do on Digg to get dugg down and one of them is saying something negative about Apple on an Apple story.... actually my 2nd least popular comment was asking "what does the iPhone do thats so great?" on an iPhone story.

    Looks like there have been "Internal Error"s in the digg api. Just try again after a few minutes, seems to work every once in a while.
    Nothing I can control unfortunately.
