- kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -11/+107Runs great on my Mac, would love to see this ported to Windows.. (it's open source)
- camalot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21since no one has commented on this i will.
This looks great. I wish i had a machine to run it on. This is probably one of the first software titles for OS X that I wish was available for the non-OSX user... - draecion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Well that would be rather foolish, seeing as how that abomination is finally being ripped out for good in Vista.
- Assad, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15If you are running Firefox, you can add Digg RSS feed as a live bookmark and then install the RSS ticker extension.
- wiu_life, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/view.php?widget=36878 for the Widget Users, great widget.
- scottym, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12You could go cross-platform with something like Konfabulator (Yahoo Widget Engine, whatever).
- IcedZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9this would make a good FF extension.
- middleman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Please, yes someone port it over to windows. Looks beautiful on the Macs but I wonder how it could be done to look so good on the windows side.
- TheTankengine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Why would you want to go to dogg.com?
- zaofreek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It is open source...it would theoretically be possible to write a Gnome panel applet that uses libnotify to do basically the same thing. I'm working on learning about writing applets myself, so perhaps after I get my first one (a control for Music Player Daemon) written, I'll give this a try.
- MiamiGuy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Wow I saw the website and immediately wanted to download, then saw the system requirements and cried like a little girl. haha I hope this gets made for Windows as well. Very sweet looking program. *sigh* Either way dugg for coolness.
- zmigliozzi, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Ya runs great on my pbook. I really like the design and concept of it.
- afractus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10and i sold my mac because i needed a windows box for windows only programs... buhh lol
- guttertrash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5diggtray is avaliable for windows
- Lifelogger, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Very nice tool and runs excellent on my Powerbook.
Thanks for this nice app! - bscott86, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13Yes, Windows would be crucial. What about making this an active desktop item?
- haloevo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That a boy. Thanks a lot for the link.
- Fridrik, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9"Very nice tool and runs excellent on my Powerbook.
Thanks for this nice app!" (0 diggs)
I'm sorry, please correct me if I'm wrong.. but are people giving thumbs down for people that have it and seem to like it? It feels as if some of the Windows users around here are annoyed by the fact that some programs can't be ported onto Windows - where indeed the Windows platform is richer in third party software.
But please, if there's a hidden negative meaning in that message, for heaven's sake explain it to me - for I don't see a reason for such a message to get negative diggs. - cakesale, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5ya but it sucks
- insertnamehere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hallelujah!
- MiamiGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Agreed thanks for the link. I'll try it out. I just wish it looked as sexy as the app in this article. heh.
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sweet thanks.
- boredzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I still want Growl support in it.
- Razerious, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Hrm. Lately I've encountered lots of nice applications that's only available for OSX. Now that it's possible to dual-boot OSX and Windows XP, I might just consider making my next purchase a Mac.
- saiko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Why the negative digg?? The guy had a decent suggestion...the technology to run it might not meet everyone's expectations but give the guy a break...!
- DJS2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The amount of people that have a mac is dramatically rising (in my area anyway). I am a PC guy hardcore. I bought a mac recently and am happy to have both. KVM one screen and so on. Now it's even easier with bootcamp. Very soon I think everyone around you (cvrefugee) will be multiplatform and only the truly closed minded wont try it.
Oh and I install the program , it's cool! works well for me. Would be nice to see it on my PC though. - Fridrik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yes, Windows has a richer amount of software available to its users at the moment than Mac OS X.
- ketsugi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8No Linux version? Bah.
- xt0ph3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dugg. Nice app. I suppose it would be nice if I could make the stories pop up elsewhere (i.e. my second monitor).
However, I wish when people linked to apps that were for only one platform (as opposed to Mac OS X, Linux and Windows) thy would specify which platform in the description. - mmxtreme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow ! This thing is amazing. Totally beats simple RSS aggregator for Digg. :-) You can even use some transparency. Althought I don't think it's very easily portable since it's written in Cocoa (Objective-C) which is not very common under Windows. But on my iMac Intel it runs great.
- Flashman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Nice app, with one criticism: I would like the option to have the Digg bar automatically scroll away after a specified period of time. As it is, I have to click the close button Every. Single. Time.
Which starts to get annoying. As a workaround I've just lowered the frequency of refreshes. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This App is delish. Porting it to Windows would bring shame to us all...although I am considering porting it. :-p
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Digg's RSS feed sucks. I have my aggregator set to update frequently and Digg always updates the stories when they are old.
- Slippy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3if only it was ported to windows :(
- Fridrik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'd also like to add that it would be a nice courtesy for story authors to declare which platform a dugg product is, as to not waste time for those who can't use it.
- artur.ventura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, yeah... try to port a cocoa objective-c application to gnome...
- dimplemonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2really like it so far. Now I can just quickly glance at the top ten diggs. Would love to see a DiggSpy ticker option, placement of the stories other than the top right corner, and perhaps animate the little Diggmeister icon when new diggs are posted. Overall, this is a great start. Can't wait to see how far the dev team can take this. Go Open Source!
- ahmerhussain, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Does that run on linux?
- Psykus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Newer users start at 0 diggs I believe. People that have been signed up for a while start at +1
- ahmerhussain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2doesn't KDE support Mac OS X widgets?
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4This is really nice. I would love to see a windows port as well.
Great work. - cvrefugee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't afford a Mac but I would buy OSX if it ran on my PC hardware.
- Conor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1just downloaded, I love the interface and it runs great
- bluerazor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it would be fantastic to have that for XP - perhaps someone will write a firefox extension !
- green67, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@bscott86..agreed....with the port to windows part....but to active desktop,? Yes,while at the time it was an interesting concept, but it (active desktop) just seemed to suck more and more as the years went on(I never met anyone who knowingly was using it).Hopefully that wonderful "feature" will be delt with once and for all with "Vista"......but don't hold your breath......none the less......Dugg....'cause I want it too.
- DPowers08, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love this app; its very convenient. I used version 1.0, but later uninstalled it becuase it would quit whenever my computer woke up from sleep. I tried the new version, and love the features, but I'm still having the same problem as before. Anyone else experiencing this?
- Muzical84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Never been able to get active desktop to work anyway.
- Muzical84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can do that?! @_@
- royalflush, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2For Windows, I've been using Digg News Widget 2.1 for quite some time now.
- royalflush, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Actually v2.5.
