- gsherwood, on 10/12/2007, -5/+133That thing tore me apart, but I loved every minute of it. Very cool!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+85Man, I feel so average now.
- misterpony, on 10/12/2007, -2/+59Hey, this is slick, but you better change the name of it because the Digg attorneys will be after you for copyright infringing.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+53i would imagine digg users have a fairly thick skin
because on digg, no good comment goes unflamed - sleze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+45Somehow after being called a "diggloser" I feel better about myself and my life. This is one contest where below average is generally a good thing.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -4/+48if it makes you feel any better, average is actually a good thing. if you're below average, you're boring, and if you're above average, you're obsessed and need to get a life
- coolian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42Very neat. Digg should incorporate this tool.
- joltjake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41according to digg-status I don't comment enough, so here we go.
- ryanvsrobots, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41while it basically called me a loser on digg.com, i think it makes me a better person in real life.
- gregdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+39"Nobody Likes you. Not even me. Now get out of my face, loser."
I don't have to take that from an .swf file. - Kericr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35Actually, the humor is in looking at the profile details for AlexAlbrecht, not our own. Alex sucks at digg.
- Ascendant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30Anyone who's spent much time in the comments section on digg will feel right at home with the tone of the results you get on this website.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27actually.. that text is coming in from a php script via xml... don't hate the messenger!
- MattyLite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27I'm commenting on this because it told me I don't comment enough :(
EDIT: It figures, right when I post this 2 people above me post the same damned thing. - Shayer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26Hey, you know how sensitive digg users are, a few of are probably off crying after all the mean things said about them...
Not me though....I'm cool. >_<
;_; - invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24you have no idea how many people have asked for 'kevinrose'... about 30% of people have so far.. can't access it now because my server just went up in flames :'(
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25something you can try out is plugging in the names of some of the top diggers.. it may yield some humorous results ;-)
there are 31,381,059,609 possible combinations [if my math is correct].. yeah, maybe i went a little overboard - invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21here are your numbers:

"I haven't seen a single user that has had more front page stories than you. You would wipe your ass with an iPod, post it on Digg, and still get on the front page with less than 30 people Digging your story. (I don't advise that you try it, though. The Digg community will probably hunt you down..)" - ZaNkY, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Kevin Rose:
Hmmm.. You must have joined Digg the same month it launched. Man, you're either really 'hip' or you helped start Digg. Either way, you probably deserve a cookie.
You are right on par with the rest of the Digg community. Do you like being average? Kick it up a notch and start Digging those stories!
You seem to Digg an average amount of stories. Just trotting along with the crowd. No, don't worry. There's nothing wrong with being average...
You find average stories that may interest half of the users of Digg. Once in a while, you get a story on the front page and you get so excited that you treat yourself to McDonald's dollar menu. Move back 3 spaces.
You have more friends than anyone else I've seen. This can only mean one thing: Your name rhymes with Evan Blows.
LOL
Sorry Kevin, but this is funny stuff. According to DiggStatus you're mostly on par with the rest of the Digg community. Tis why we love you :)
But apparently lots of people want to see you....n.....n.... never mind :)
You do need to start friending more people though lol. - wiremonkeymommy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15top digg submitters spend hours and hours digging up stories, forming coalitions and factions to get their stories promoted, and many more hours obsessively checking their status...
and the rest of us just sit back and enjoy the fruits of your hard labor...
ego slaves - narduk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16gotta comment so i don't get my feelings hurt as bad next time
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14calm down ZaNkY
it's called satire:
"sarcasm: witty language used to convey insults or scorn"
(per http://google.com/search?q=define+satire ) - invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13well, i went to go fix it.. and as i tried to upload the new script, the server became unresponsive.. while i was waiting for it to retry, i came back here and noticed the diggs all of the sudden skyrocketed..
the age was the last thing i added.. i typed those last night at like midnight.. i'm SORRY i got it wrong! :P - airencracken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Funny, but it got my account age wrong. I got here just before Digg v3. :)
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13trying typeing in "KevinRose" he seems to pretty average too.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13anyone? yeah. about 30% of people have
- bergur1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Age :(
You've been around for a little while. Too bad you missed Digg pre-v3. Those were the days. Well, welcome to Fark.c-.. I mean Digg.com! - haiduz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Well ***** you too digg status tool
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It's interesting because there seems to be a variety of "digging styles" that don't get talked about often (except in this tool)... though it certainly makes you feel like you're not doing your part if you don't comment or digg enough.
...I for one, only digg stuff I really find interesting. Really interesting. I digg like I bookmark pages, very selectively - in fact, I often use Digg as a bookmarking tool.
A lot of people seem to Digg stuff willy-nilly... whatever catches their eye. Sometimes, they won't even read the stories - they Digg based on the description and commentary.
Some of my friends only Digg stuff they agree with (if they don't like Apple, they won't digg an Apple story).
I don't think there's a right or wrong way... but this tool made me think of those variations and how some users get mad at others for their "digging style". - 1021, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9you two really need to go get a room.
- freff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Fun tool. But why does invader hate me?
"Either you don't submit any stories, or the ones that you do really suck. Either way, I think it's safe to say that you are, in at least one aspect, a total loser."
Ouch. My diggnity is broken. - invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8that information isn't public, or else i definitely would have included it.. ooh the fun insults i could write for that!!
- ratbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Heh nice, the only positive remark I got was on my account age.
- KingAR_II, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7ouch... and here I was thinking I'm the *****!
- camkerr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9lol check out this for friends section
"You have more friends than anyone else I've seen. This can only mean one thing: Your name rhymes with Evan Blows" - Ramtech, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8i'm just a douchebag... lol
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6http://digg.com/users/Fredx/friends/befriended
- ryland2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@ invader
The profile views is extremely off, digitalgopher has 4th most viewed profile ever and it says he is average, makes no sense - jayadelson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7For the record... There was no attempt to destroy yigg, that was invented as a dramatic story by others. We only asked to protect our trademark, nothing more.
- ear1grey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8"It utilizes PHP, MySQL, Flash, and XML" - OMG-PONIES!!! I'm guessing it runs on a farm of Ubuntu ported iPods that have been personally stroked into the rack by Mr. Jobs himself.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You see that little link that says "[reply]"?
I bet you got hit *hard* on the commenting section. - N3wtR0ckn13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5damn mirrors of self reflection. you never like what you see.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5yeah.. i thought about it this morning after reading your comment, but decided to just hope for the best
i was very close to adding a disclaimer saying that it's "in no way affiliated with digg.com" and jargon like that.. but it was the thought of those other digg-related 3rd party efforts that gave me hope (one recently was that 'DiggDong' thing) - invader, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7@ryland2
I dugg you up, because you make a valid point.
However, I looked into it and verified that the result is what it should be, based on the type of calculations I'm using. One of my ways of reducing the strength of the digg effect on my server was limiting myself to very basic types of calculations.
You are looking at the result saying "he's in the top 99.99%, so the bar should be at almost 100%"
There is nothing wrong with that, but the calculations I used involve comparing the user's statistic to 3 figures: lowest, highest, and average. When you look at it this way, in digitalgopher's case, the result makes more sense. the minimum is 0, the average is 2990, and the maximum is 506002. dg is in the 80,000's. As you can see, his count is about 1/6th of the way from the average to the max, and that is what the bar displays.
The alternative would require too much overhead.. each request would require over a dozen queries.. I would have to get the user's stats first.. then do almost a dozen queries like this:
"SELECT count(id) FROM [tablename] WHERE ProfileViews > {$userData["ProfileViews"]}";
I would then have to query the database to find out how many total records there are, and do some simple division.
All in all, my method, which is accurate but from a numeric perspective (rather than ranking), requires exactly 2 queries. My hands were tied, and I had to choose the option that yielded the best performance. - invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5:-( you're not supposed to take those comments as coming directly from me.. it's the script that hates you! not me!
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6a few people pointed out the age issue before you.. when it hit the front page, i was in the middle of FTPing it, but the server became unresponsive... that entry has been fixed.
i added the age portion of it last.. and i typed those at about midnight last night. i got that one wrong, but it's fixed now
you have a damn good memory, sir. - sleze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5hmm...shame, shame. You should stop making friends in real life and make internet friends here. They are much better for you as a person.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Let Us All Celebrate Our Suckness!
- exec721, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This tool made take a hard look at myself. Today I realized I'm an antisocial leeching bastard who has no friends. I guess admitting the problem is the first step towards recovery right? =)
