It injects random keystrokes into the user's typing. Gotta get one for April 1!!! - JayWright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You need a programmer?!? Way too complex.. I'm all for DIY, but when you have to go to someone else to do it for you, it's a big hassle and, furthermore, you're not even really doing it yourself.
- EagleY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WOW!
- Madguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, I wouldn't be suspicious at all of a short cable with big bulge covered in heat shrink tubing...
- rafgar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Who uses a PS/2 style keyboard anymore?"
I do. Why tie of a USB port that can be used for a wide variety of hardware when I have 2 PS/2 ports that can only be used for a keyboard and mouse? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Who uses a PS/2 style keyboard anymore?"
Almost everyone! Most keyboards are still using PS/2 connectivity..... Maybe not mouses, but this is another story :) - tke248, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No need to worry you can defeat them easy enough
http://digg.com/security/Defeating_DIY_Hardware_Keyloggers - alexey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very dangerous thing! Check out Fyodor's article giving examples of its real applications:
http://www.insecure.org/stc/ - Zyga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How can you know that you are typing on bugged keyboard? Hardware device is undetectable by software. Software keyboard is good - but only when you know or suspecting that keylogger is plugged into computer. Regarding to this it's not so easy to track them - especially when they are mounted inside keyboard casings. Even USB keyboard is not safe enough cause some producers already offer USB compatible keyloggers like http://www.keelog.com/kusb.html
So - about keyboard security and hardware keylogers defeating it seems that only your own well-known personal keyboard is safe enough :] - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Mabye the Dupe patrol should get their own badges and T-shirts and stuff!
Anyway thats pretty cool, I might try this later on - SloppyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is awesome, not so much cause its a keylogger, but because its a cool uController project. Microcontrollers rock!
If you want a good programmer and some good tutorials on the 8051 family visit http://www.iguanalabs.com they have some free tutorials and sell kits to get you started in Micros.. - Bluezdood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Most excellent, this could be a lot of fun.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1keyboards go on PS/2
mice go on usb - bradzilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dugg.
- EvilBadger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One wonders how you would not see one this crude device hanging off the back of your computer.
- FlyboyP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is also the totally hidden type of hardware keylogger, embedded in the keyboard case. Typical application for these would be spying on your cheating spouse's online activities.
Cool but usually illegal. To me, this is just as wrong as a bedroom spycam, or phone tap. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. - at165db, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's a lot simpler to make a DIY one than what they show.
Using a PS/2 cable and just a PIC 16F676 I made device that took keystrokes, and if they were letters, would encrypt them via the german WWII cypher. Press Esc and the "rotors" would reset so you could decrypt the data.
It would be very easy to just not do the enigma cypher, and simply log the data. - jimmy0x52, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Some motherboards/systems no longer include PS/2 ports.
Not to say there's not a lot out there... - Hootiehoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You need a programmer?!? BUY ONE YOU DIYER
- wkl55, on 01/29/2008, -0/+0Hardware keyloggers are great, but they have a major draw back to software keylogger as you need physical access to check the logs.... Now if you had a wireless hardware keylogger it would be a killer. As of right now there is only 1 company that makes such a product http://WirelessKeylogger.com
- TokenUser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Anarchy879 - "ass pony" got in 6 hours BEFORE you ... and 2 others had beaten both of you to it within the previous 24 hours ... not to mention previous posts of the same subject. When you get the "this might be a duplicate" warning ... pay attention.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1this was on the front page yesterday im pretty sure. plus, whenever it brings up the thing that says that this was already posted, dont post it again.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0THis is a good example of why Dupes are good. Some of us don;t read all the stories every day and these sometimes get missed.

- rafgar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0NO DIGG!!! Regardless of what anyone says, there is no legit use for a keylogger. If you need to monitor someone's activity and can legally do so, there are much better ways to do so. Keyloggers are only good for getting info you're not supposed to have.
- Brak710101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wan't this on Hackaday.com? Nice job on stealing a story.

heres the link to my story - cbmeeks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I really don't see how keyloggers are any good. Maybe for spying on your wife or kids but how the hell would you get it onto someone's computer that you don't have regular access to and then how would you remove it?
No diggy

Exactly same link. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0do a search on ultravnc, can be installed as a service. No need for extra hardware.
