- hbweb500, on 10/11/2007, -0/+40They left out "define:". I use that function every week, at least!
- PureForm, on 10/11/2007, -1/+31here's how you find out about some of their lesser-known pages: http://www.google.com/robots.txt
- aforsberg, on 10/11/2007, -13/+39that was dumb.

It just means that search engines aren't supposed to list the secret Microsoft search page. - kevin.gc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11That means hertz - It's a frequency. Two a day is 2.31481481 × 10-5 hertz. Two a second is 2 hertz.
- everlaster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9"Scientists say that the average human uses only 3% of his Google during his life"
- lukeo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8i just wish there was a synonym: command.... i have typed it into google before just thinking it is such an obvious thing ot have next to define: but it came back with nothing. :(
- monototo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8yeah nice,
incase anyone doesn't get it:
frequency=1/Time and T is measured in seconds..
There are 86400 seconds in a day..
Therefore to work out the frequency if something is happening "two [times] a day" :
f=event/T
f=2/(86400)
f=2.31481481e-5 hertz
Similar numbers crop up when working with time in excel - idugcoal, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7@kevin.gc ... you're very clever for having figured that one out. i was stumped. (honestly :)
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7ok i never have gotten this. i once searched two a days and got this http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&q=two+a+days&btnG=Google+Search
- russellnation, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7dugg for google notebook, how did i not know about it. i should have totaly googled that and already known about it.
- smkelly, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Or, you could just go here:

Let me guess - you're not in customer service at Google Kirkland. - GodsFavorite, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Google also offers nifty cell phone features. (all these are sent to googl (46645)
-send a store name (Applebees) or genre (Restaurant) and your zip and it will spit back the 2-3 closest.
-"weather" and your zip gives you a 4 day forecast
- stock: bb gives you a Synopsis of what Best Buy has done that day.
there are others, type "help" and it will spit back all that Google Text can do.
Standard TXT rates apply. - psevium, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Me too. I use Google instead of xe.com as well, since it's faster to type '100 USD in AUD' for example in the firefox search box, instead of going through xe's form. Dunno about accuracy but it's good enough. Also 'united states money in australian dollars' for example.
- a2n3d7y, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3i use google as a spell checker many times a day...
- unusualbob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I guess most of us aren't average then
- changyang1230, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2In another news, scientists discovered that half the world population have below-average intelligence. :P
- eluis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2And use it as a spell checker....
- unusualbob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2and the ever so famous 'french victories' search
screenshot: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/text/victories.html - GougeAway, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm personally a fan of Google Calendar. Much better than any scheduling program I've ever used - and free.
- gadgetlust, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1One of my favorites: enter *your city name* showtimes in the main search field. The top link on the results page should lead to a nice summary of all movies playing in theaters in your town, complete with a rating, when they are showing, and an IMDB link.
- pennyfan87, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Lifehack.org, silly.
- spyrochaete, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Nicely formatted, mostly useless, so I like it.
- dopecoder, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1google is fantastic, the web would not be the same without it
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3I can't wait until Google can teach me how to make money by using Google.
- hiPpymIck, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4on Digg recently..(Leo Laporte search engine - you could make it you google search home page)
http://www.leoogle.com/ - slapthemonkey, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Google calender is cool......rather a great help!!!
- syafthegeek, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2This is damn cool hack. Google have tons of tools available. Lifehacker made it much more fun and interesting.
- seehuge, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0That was a trickily placed adsense box (next to dilbert). I am ashamed to admit that I have just clicked on my first google ad in years.
- dancraggs, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Nothing new whatsoever here. Those that actually use Google regularly enough to make use of this know these already, if not just by accident.
- thundacracka, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0"Smart Google users know...."
Wow. So if we don't know, we're dumb Google users? That's quite an insult. I, sir, am offended. Oh wait, I knew how to do those. - giestmd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1ok fine
- powerbenny, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1@zoom1928
It's not that we're disputing that you shouldn't use weather: zipcode just that weather: area_code is more international and encompasses post codes for us in the UK and probably other things in other countries whereas zipcode is a purely US thing and in case some of you boys hadn't noticed this Internet thing is the World Wide Web. - deeboe, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1@Dokumentamarble
Not true if you use the image search... - WEBdentist, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1All this and much more explained on the Google Cheat Sheet: http://www.adelaider.com/google/ :)
- elleanee, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0Let's not get too excited about this. I tried the google notebook thingy and it's available to only IE and Firefox, NOT Safari. Now what's up with that???
- Rosamilia, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1...They forgot the Modulus operator ('MOD' for you noobs)
- WEBdentist, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2All this and much more explained on the Google Cheat Sheet: http://www.adelaider.com/google/ :)
- specialK16, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1There was How-To somewhere on how to make your site appear as the first search result (not the sponsored link but the actual result number uno).
- cr4ft, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3Wow, thank you for this.
I knew about most of the stuff, but "weather: area code" was one of my favorites.
I also love Google Suggest

google and digg should make a site that mixes in all the stories of digg and all the search power of google
it should be called
DIGGLE
OR GIGG - mattyG, on 10/11/2007, -12/+8@cr4ft
we call that the zip code. - Jade10145, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1"Madness! Next thing you know, they'll be mapping Earth and sharing Documents!"
(Said in a 50's educational video tone) Those are some dangerous thoughts your having, better keep those to yourself.. -
