An ICO can contain raw bitmap data, but is in no way compatible... How exactly do you explain the alpha-mask? :)

- Langford, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Windows knows how to use a bmp as if it were an icon, but it isn't one. Before they came up with thumbnail view, there was a registry hack that allowed you make your bmp files all display their contents as their icons from within explorer. It works for some other file formats too.
