This is just a way for you to use Google Talk and additional Jabber server to connect to other networks. It's not meant to be "better;" only possible.

- flashmaster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1For the PC, I rank the Yahoo IM the best for features, ease of use, and best integration with their other services. MSN, AOL and Google really don't have good IM tools, and Google's is the least polished of them all. On the Mac, The AOL tool works well as a video chat, but I've heard complaints of getting the video working on the iMac using Yahoo IM. Personally, if I was favoring companies rather than actually evaluating tools, I would hope that Google had the best tool, but I really think they released theirs without much thought. It will all sort out soon.

- norbiu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yes, Yahoo doesn't work for ursine but I tried something else and it worked ... it's buggy as hell ... *****, I'd better wait for yahoo and google to come up with a solution ... that might be when hell freezes over! anyway i stopped using YM for good.

- halfway, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I tried it out today. Got Psi, setup my gtalk account with it. Then had to find correct servers for aim, msn, and yahoo. I signed up yahoo but it didnt appear - and I dont have anyone on it so it didnt matter. I got aim and msn working after having to accept a billion messages from 250+ people. I really need to get rid of a lot of the old screen names. Psi would not load the servers many times, and i would have to restart it to have it work properly. I loaded up gtalk, everything loaded up find, hid the offline contacts. It only sorts by letter, not status (away, available, offline). And under the aim one, there were html tags for the profiles which was annoying. And a lot of the conversations I made would just randomly exit out and mark the person as offline, which they weren't. I'd say its kidna promising, but stick with other IM programs until the creases are smoothed.

- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0Screw GAIM. Miranda IM looks 10x better and has 10x more plugins. Plus its completely modular and pretty much EVERYTHING can be changed from the default (which actually doesn't look that great).
