- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -7/+78You'll do anything to watch Entourage?
Would that include, oh I don't know, subscribing to HBO? - burty89, on 10/12/2007, -16/+85++ means increment in C/C++/C#/Javascript/etc
Please don't insult people for using terms you don't understand - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -3/+49Of course its not legal. If it looks too good to be true, its not legal. You're getting HBO for free, in what way could that possibly be legit?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+44Dugg because it worked great during the world cup!
- brendanc, on 10/12/2007, -11/+51You use the internet and you can't find soft-core porn? Google images, oh, and pick a shady site like uh, entensity or something.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+46"Notice that lordthor directed a comment to Aeoo. Aeoo doesnt have a comment above. Digg has removed it.
Digg is editing us now. Such *****.
This will probably be removed too. ***** you Kevin. Don't edit digg comments because you report to investors now."
Hey retard, no one's editing *****. The guy who posted the comment towards "aeoo" placed it in the wrong comment thread (read the next thread under this one). Settle down, Nancy and don't get your panties in a bunch so easily; you make everyone else look bad with your ignorant paranoid *****. - Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -6/+42How long before they are sued into oblivion? This can't be legal. Cool, yeah, but legal?
- c0d3b0y, on 10/12/2007, -4/+32it uses some kind of p2p system a la bit torrent to share bandwidth among users
- brendanc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29Cheers to that, we were watching it in my office because we didnt have a working TV! Take that upper management!
- jasper976, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30this has been around for quite awhile, been using it to watch 9ers games for a looong time (fox sundays, all 9ers games) works pretty well, Comedy Central and HBO tend to have the most connection issues in my experience. Don't really have any problems with the other channels.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20This is called P2PTv, and this is not the only program to do it, although TVUPlayer arguably has the best channel selection.
The technology behind it is similar to bittorrent.
And it is HBO Asia. - AssProphet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20@ aeoo
I agreed with you up to the point where you decided to generalize Americans as litigious. Using one example of someone misusing a word doesn't give you nearly the leverage to support such a claim. Sure, correct him, make fun of him, but don't use that to label an entire country worth of people. You sir, are a condescending bastard. - Submerge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Has some good channels, if anyone wants to check out various other channels I tend to visit: http://www.channelking.com
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15"They could just stream the data in quicktime or wmv or flash format. You people are so gullible it isn't even funny."
That wouldn't be P2P. - merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Napster was up for years. Doesn't mean it was legal :p
Enjoy it while it lasts. - SanClemente, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18has anybody tried it?
- mmmike, on 10/12/2007, -12/+23does anyone know of a program like this for Mac OS X?
- Emerica, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12This is just a piece of Sopcast that fell off the bandwagon, The Sopcast team (www.sopcast.org) Had some bad times about a year ago and the group started to split.
TVUNetworks was formed as a US company in an effort to try an make a profit from the software. The sopcast team is stilll creating thier own software from China. They are not the same allthough they used to be. They do not really like each other anymore either.
Generally if you are watching a commercial channel, then It's probly going to be illegal, the channel owners themselves and the avert owners wouldn't be able to take full advantage of this system untill better user tracking can be embeded. They may be a few channels which do cooperate, but I wouldnt count Hbo, or Disney as one of them.
The only problem Sopcast has recently encountered is that they had a number of porn channels on thier list. It seems the chinese government has a problem with that, so they have had to remove any public porn channel from thier lists.
There should be no spyware in either product at the moment, but TVU would be on of the ones to watch for that as team looks to be out to make a profit.
Sopcast has a linux version and the Mac version is coming along. - radu79, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Wow, this is so cool, especially that it works great on a DSL connection and I have no cable tv or over the air reception.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12There's no spyware in it buddy. Set up a firewall yourself.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I'd rather have more people on it so the channels are faster. During the world cup only ESPN was watchable because there were enough people watching it to make it run smoothly.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11What are they selling?
- burty89, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12@aeoo:
Personally, I find being called an "EBay drone" insulting, especially since I've never once used eBay... If you don't then fine, but I do.
And when did Americans get brought into this? I'm not American, didn't mention Americans and enzyte didn't mention Americans. - AltonMan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12What does a sick bird have anything to do with it? :-P
- marlinspike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I watched the World Cup on TVU Player, and thank goodness for it! Without it, I'd have been forced to 'watch' the games via play-by-play commentaries via radio or the web. Ha! I had TVU, and hell, I saw more games this world cup than the last!!! Horray!!
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"How long before they are sued into oblivion? This can't be legal. Cool, yeah, but legal?"
The prices cable companies charge for TV can't be legal.
$60 a month for basic digital cable is a crime. - kris33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You said it...
But it was wrong.
This service have already been up for months.
Maybe you just speak VEEEEEEEERYYYY slowly! :) - Ub3rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12People keep saying there's an agreement between TVU and Disney. Find it. It doesn't exist. That's a made up rumor to rationalize its legality. I can say with 100% certainty that any Time Warner owned station that's on there is being retransmitted without their permission.
As for this being legal? Probably not. Certainly not in the US. I'm sure the only reason its still running is because its in China and there isn't a lot most of these corporations can do about it. - WickedDrag0oN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Yes well we also dont pay out the ass to get rid of them.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10No Sci-Fi... :(
- diecastbeatdown, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12this is true. i wouldnt have been able to watch the world cup if not for this fine app...
though i must ay, all this exposure is pissing me off. i'd much rather it be a secret. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7you guys need to get something to do
- CherryTzors, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You guys are such tightwads... jeeze so he uses ++ so what? Maybe it was an acciedent and he didn't notice that he held down the = key too long. It's not the end of digg people.
- Joebar, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14Why do we never see this kinda stuff on the "switch to Mac" TV commercials?
"We're trendy and easy, but always behind the curve." - optikal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7This with XBMC could be sweet..
- czer323, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7It DOES have cartoon network.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7p2p streaming - you download a byte of data and send out a byte of data. So you end up steaming what you send out. This means people on limited bandwidth should watch out because your sending out alot of data and this could take you well over your data limit.
I have about 15 gig limit a month, but I only pay like $12 US (converted from local currency) for ADSL quality internet. I prefer to use the websites that stream channels, it may not always be fast - but I know that I"m not going over my limit at least!

So why did you not realize that digg++ means add one more digg? And why did you associate it with eBay? - miltont, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I've been using this player for about 6 months. Works well enough; I watched most of world cup using this. One suggestion I have is initially when you choose a channel, click refresh a few times. This will help out with the initial buffer lag. I use it for ESPN and ABC to watch college football while i'm at work on the weekends. I'm actually quite surprised that this hasn't been taken down by the networks.
- OrangeTide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Democracy Player has features that would be useful for this sort of thing. You'd just need to setup a Myth TV box to capture the video and then seed it out to a bunch of Democracy clients. get a bunch of other people to do the same and you can share all the pay channels. Democracy just takes an RSS feed of torrents and starts downloading them one by one.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
But I'll add "and ***** off." - JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7http://www.tvunetworks.com
Download section. - OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I'm going to stream a channel of myself reading Digg.
Naked. - Aberen, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9MPAA... Nope still there
- Pharaoh777, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I used this to watch the World Cup at work.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Open a scifi channel then, or convince a friend to! Its peer2peer buddy!
http://www.viidoo.com/bd/bd.php - TheRealPod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4A lot of cable stations actually pay the cable services to carry their stations. Since this has the comercials I can't see why they would be upset. HBO though......oh boy.
- mv36, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Too bad their website cannot handle digg effect :D
20Kb/s download........ however their viewing program should work great due to it's P2P nature. - r2builder, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Well I'm from the UK, so we don't get most of your channels. This is great for me - thanks for posting it rdwing.
- gmurray, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Anyone want to explain how this works?
