Dont you have puppies to be kicking you troll? - TGMD, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19wow...
Just got done looking at 23r17i05o42n's profile (oh by the way real creative name), all he does is flame-bait and bash MS, and Wii... and liberals... and digg itself... essentially a troll
sometimes I wish Digg had a karma system like /. so people like this just get dugg down automatically.... - masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2123r17i05o42n does this on every article mentioning "Microsoft." He must feel like a TV evangelist in front of a whore house, telling everyone how bad their sins are (loudly) before they walk in. >_>
- TGMD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13*Flash to Mozilla's Office
NO!!!!! They're all dead!! Damn you Microsoft! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!!
Oh cake... - masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Actually, taking a look at his comments, they're all pretty bad:
http://digg.com/users/23r17i05o42n/commented
Here are a select few from his first comment page...
- "Suck it, Gates." on an article about Gates needing to testify at court
- "HAHAHAHAHA!!! Is this a joke?" on 'iPod users plan Microsoft Zune exodus'
- "Big clunky turd brick." on a Zune article
- "Buried as inaccurate. A paranoid delusion by freakish lefties and Digg crybabies." on an ASSOCIATED PRESS (as in, not a crank blog) article about the White House muzzling scientists trying to speak about Global Warming
- "Is that where I can find the gay circle jerks? I'd like to take pics and send them to your mommies" on 'Nintendo picks GameStop, Toys "R" Us for Wii launch'
- "Vista is the world's biggest virus." on a Vista article
- "I can't wait to see absolutely no one with a Zune on the street or in the gym. Biggest flop of 2007!" on a Zune.net article
- "Wow, people are actually excited about this Microsoft spam and astroturfing. Have you all gone insane or are you just some kind of Xbox zombie?" on the Zune WindowsXP Theme article
I've only done this to one other person -- you've all probably seen him, the pet medication spammer -- but welcome to my block list, 23r17i05o42n. - fatdog789, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18Talk about paranoia. No wonder nobody takes open source seriously.
- virtualball, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11*GASP* the cake from the IE team to the Firefox Team!!! */GASP*
- drizek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9In one of their conferences they had a slideshow called
"We're geeks bearing gifts"
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/longhorn_pdc2003_movie.asp - TGMD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11It's not OSS, it's fanboys. I use open source and much of what I program I make OSS. Although I don't believe in it strictly some things need to be kept secret... few things though.
Your seeing this kind of thing because Microsoft is the big-bad corporation that's EVIL and will crush you etc etc etc... It's just fanboys who won't even look at this on face value.
If this Microsoft/Novell deal was Apple/Novell You would see articles praising it calling it a massive innovation etc etc. Why? because Apple isn't seen as evil (IDK why, Jobs is just as ruthless as gates) - rowanjl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Lister: I dunno though. This wooden horse of Troy malarkey, I'm not buyin' that.
Rimmer: It's one of the most famous military maneuvers in history!
Lister: I mean, the Greeks have been camped outside Troy, kerpowing, zapping, and kersplatting the Trojans for the best part of a decade, yeah?
Rimmer: So?
Lister: The Trojans having being laid siege to for a decade suddenly wake up
to find the Greek army gone, and a large wooden horse left outside the
city. A wooden horse LARGE enough to hold 500 Greek warriors, full
dressed for battle, AND toilet facilities, and they pull it INSIDE
the city and go and have an early night.
Lister: Beware of Trojans, they're complete smegheads.
Don't believe everything you read. - Quix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"What Digg Needs is something to realize that a bunch of users are digging-down or blocking a bunch of times and should give him an auto -3 or something.."
Better yet, kick them entirely. Chronic trolls are killing Digg. - TGMD, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I don't block people, I prefer to digg them down so other people don't have to see this kind of rubbish...
What Digg Needs is something to realize that a bunch of users are digging-down or blocking a bunch of times and should give him an auto -3 or something.. - Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I think digg should have a ranking system for trollers. Like after getting so many negative diggs you're name gets changed to Alpha Douche Bag, Beta Douche Bag and such.
- GnuTzu, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Perhaps part of the Novell thing. They're collaborating on some back office stuff, and Microsoft can't afford to be holding back on this.
I've been making two predictions on this.
1) They're unhappy that they haven't managed to wrangle Samba.
2) They see virtualization as the basis for maintaining a foothold on every PC. - theonlybigboss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6please do not feed the trolls
- dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@MacSuxWindozSux:
"Would be nice to be able to see a list of being blocking you... or a number. Would be a good feature for next digg update."
You would then have a "score" for the trolls to keep track of, then they would compete, and the problem could get worse...
I do like the idea of having someone who is always dugg down starting with less diggs, and someone who is constantly dugg up starting with extra diggs, (on comments, not submissions) Of course it would have to be to a fairly subtle extent, so that the worst of the trolls are only just burried by default...
Something I do want to see is a total, or average comment dugg level. It would be nice to see how high you can get your average comment dugg. - BlackAdderIII, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If you guys think that Department of Justice findings and Microsoft's activities as a matter of documented fact amount to "paranoia", then you're just being poorly informed, sorry.
It doesn't matter whether you're pro-Microsoft, anti-Microsoft or (like most people) indifferent to Microsoft, in entering into an agreement you'd be totally unprofessional to ignore this.
Microsoft's behaviour is a matter of solid fact, you see. Please don't SPIN it to seem otherwise. - BlackAdderIII, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I love how people act as if Microsoft's reputation is in the minds of hysterical OSS zealots.
Microsoft's reputation has been earned by Microsoft themselves - in their business dealings, in their technological dealings, and in the courts.
These are largely matters of record, so take your misinformed perception that it's all "lies", to Google and public records and find out what the hell you're talking about.
In the likely event you can't be bothered to find out for yourself, consider thinking "Hmmm, do I have *any idea* wtf I'm talking about?" before you press 'Submit Comment'. - Jolene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Every time I read "Greeks" in that article, I kept thinking "Geeks".
- yaosio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Once again the republicans prove they can't control the USSR. Vote JFK for president next year!
- DeadLikeMe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes this could be a new tactic to effect OSS. Until other comerical comanpies were involved (Novell) MS could only play "wack a mole" But as commerical ventures that have corporate backgrounds (Novell compared to MySQL) are getting into the OSS realm there is actually someone they can talk to and buy off. I'd be very suspicious of what MS is up to.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Would be nice to be able to see a list of being blocking you... or a number. Would be a good feature for next digg update.
- Geekbeard, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6"I fear the Danaans, even bearing gifts."
Danaans = poetic word for Greeks.
Just in case anyone is wondering. - harlowsmonkeys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The author at freesoftwaremagazine.com did not read the patent non-assert conditions carefully. Here's the relevant language from Microsoft's document:
"If you file, maintain or voluntarily participate in a patent infringement lawsuit against a Microsoft implementation of such Covered Specification, then this personal promise does not apply with respect to any Covered Implementation of the same Covered Specification made or used by you."
In other words, you can use their Sender ID patents when you implement Sender ID, but if you do so, you can't use any of your patents against Microsoft's implementation of Sender ID. If you do, they can use their Sender ID patents against your Sender ID implementation. - eamacnaghten, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I confess, I did not, (well - not from the horse's mouth as it were). I have placed an update in the article to correct the misrepresentation.
- alexthebeast, on 10/12/2007, -10/+10I'm afraid that they are trying to use their dirty corporate tricks on linux again and I do not like it.
- Rayor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I'm sorry, I don't know what this guy's talking about.
Could somebody explain to me what's going on? - robojames, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0is this like when Bill Gates sent me an email saying if i forwarded this email to all my friends i'd get like $100? cause i never got my $100 and i'm getting worried that it's not going to arrive
- menneke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Thanks
- turulka, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0LINUX!!!!!
- ramiro, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2BURIED... as a frakking lame. These OSS fanatics should just shut the hell up.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Micro$oft is evil! The world is doomed! Only Jesus can save you now!!!
- stalinvlad, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1More anti-M$ *****
- lagaviota, on 10/12/2007, -15/+10On the nose. Microsoft isn't and wouldn't give away anything. The gift horse is definitely dangerous. Look out.
- whiteguysamurai, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3You're an idiot.
- bob12321, on 10/12/2007, -35/+5well then a bunch of people make viruses for a "virus"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -68/+17Microsoft is a scourge upon the world. Windows is a virus. We would be much better off without it. But go ahead and keep supporting it, sheeple.
