- ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -2/+34Its awesome!
- marnaq, on 10/11/2007, -2/+32Dude, you can zoom web pages just like the iPhone. Tested on my two year old SE W800i and it just ***** works.
- Dested, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23Truly an amazing app for anyone who has a phone. Works better than anything else on my phone.
- nonsapiens, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21Opera Mini *is* faster than a normal phone browser: traffic read through Opera Mini is first passed through their servers, the excess HTML and other things are stripped out, and is reformatted in a custom markup language that compresses the original page's size by up to 90%!
- nilicule, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23There's a demo video showing off the new zoom functionality available at http://www.operamini.com/beta/demo/
Works like a charm on my phone, this really is a huge step forward! - ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22Indeed, pretty much any phone can run it. Also its free, you don't have to pay $500+ to get it! It just rocks, its Opera!
- mobilehavoc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19Best. Mobile. Browser. Ever.
What's so amazing about this is that it's a Java app so as people are saying it will run on basically any J2ME capable phone no matter what and give you the same features and experience.
I've been using OperaMini 3.0 on my Pearl for a few months now and now with OperaMini 4.0 it just keeps getting better. Go Opera Go! - mattcoxonline, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18For those that don't want to view the ads, demo, or enter the competition; just point your phone browser to http://mini.opera.com/beta/
- d3bruts1d, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18So much better than that PoS browser included on my RAZR.
- ellingsson, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17Works like a charm!
- iigloo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Kinda feels like the browser that Nokia ships with their smart-phones like the N-series. But with a cooler and easier interface, loving it!
- ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Its not their faul that adobe doesn't release a more up to date version for devices, that's why they're stuck with flash 7.
- Charbax, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13I just posted a video of Opera's CTO Hakon Wium Lie when he was talking about Opera Mini a couple of weeks ago to a Web 2.0 conference in Copenhagen:
http://charbax.com/2007/06/19/hakonwiumlie-keynote-at-reboot/
He also talks about Opera on the Wii, DS, Archos, OLPC and lots of other devices, as well as lots of talking about HTML5, CSS4 and more. This is the complete keynote video. - deathray, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13You could try it out here http://www.operamini.com/beta/simulator/
- mymate, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12seriously owns!!
- digitalsin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Works like a champ on my blackberry 8703e which comes with a pretty dated browser by default. Thanks Opera!
- whaleyboy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Wow indeed, it runs brilliantly on my nokia e65.
- Squidly, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Oh hell yea, it works on my Treo 650. Nice!
- ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8You should give it a chance, its free. You won't regret it!
- Sewende, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Ooh! I've got a Sony Ericsson W950i. It rox :)
- tensvb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I wouldn't call this "iPhone ripoff", because there were browsers with a mode like this before, besides Opera was working on this for quite a long time (they started developing it along with Opera Mini 3). Just because Jobs said that iPhone is the first phone with "real" browser, it doesn't mean it's true. Actually it's a blatant lie.
- simplejoe79, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7ITS GREATTTTTTTT!!!!!!!.......
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7LOL opera is currently the best mobile browser for any device,
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7opera is the best on any platform, desktop, pocket pc, phone, ANYTHING
you cant beat opera for built in features - ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Only way is to copy the RMS file from old opera mini setup to the new one, you can find more info on the forums at http://my.opera.com/community/forums/forum.dml?id=111
- NGNR, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I'm glad that there is a new version out. I installed and older version a couple of days ago for my N95, and I love it. I think its even faster then the default browser.
- nilicule, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7What didn't work? What did you try? What error did you get?
- ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7it runs brilliantly on pretty much any phone!
- BossX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6WOW - works on the BB 8700 and scales sites properly - F the iPhone
- ai42, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I'm getting a similar message on my blackjack. This may require some research there must be a way to allow certain apps to access the network without confirmation.
- ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6On my nokia 6600 in the manager menu, I can set it to "Always allow", so check your settings.
- ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6m.youtube.com does.
Normal one clearly doesn't, as your phone is too weak(most phones are) for flash. - anarchyx34, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Just installed it on my Nokia 6630. Works awesome!
- ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Its concept is a bit different, Opera Mobile is more powerfull, but it runs on pretty small number of phones. So if you want more advanced features you should stick with Opera Mobile. But for those who don't need them/can't use Opera Mobile, Opera Mini is just a godsent gift.
- tensvb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Don't you know there were browsers with "overview -> zoom in" mode long before iPod introduction? Ever heard about Nokia Webkit browser? Well at least Opera is not trying to pretend they are first, contrary to Steve "boom" Jobs.
- mattcoxonline, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Strange; I'm running it on a HTC S710 (WM6 Smartphone) and it works just fine.
- LouisC, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5erm, it's more of a hybrid of the wii/DS browser, Opera Mobile, and the current Opera Mini than a copy of the iphone.
The only thing really iphone inspired is probably the way the pages slide over when you go to a new page, and that's not really a big deal, just eye-candy. - helfire, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=187125&t=1182261589&page=1#comment2019645
got it working, had to adjust some java prefs, pretty cool, still a little slow going from the palm typing input back to the browser. but fast after that. - BigFloppy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Ditto with the Samsungs... horrendous. Now if only there was some way to replace the default with this.
- ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4If you install J2ME it will.
- Coreguy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5How does it compare to Opera Mobile?
Or more specifically, On S60v3 Platform? - Fiyerstorm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It works on my T-Mo Dash! I love this browser way more than the actual Opera browser for smartphones since this one is more streamlined and simpler.
- Eisim, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4smooth scrolling, virtual mouse, fast as ever, FREE - can't beat it with a stick!
- dadood, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4One feature I wish Operamini had by default is being able to surf in Landscape mode. I've seen some hacked versions that allow this but I don't want a hacked version.
The new zoom and mouse feature is sweet! - tensvb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Too bad may phone is so old it doesn't even have Java.
But if I will buy a new phone, I will do it mostly to get OperaMini... - dadood, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Still Beta. Hopefully those features will be in the release.
- nilicule, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Try pointing your phone to http://mini.opera.com/beta/ instead :)
- FearNoEvil, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Will this work for the Samsung BlackJack?
- sleze, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Opera rules.
- ramunas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Even that slide animation was in opera mini version 3. So it can't be iphone inspired.
