I've tried to customize it before but it's confusing and I kept breaking something, somehow. I'd love to give it a try if someone could just provide a pre-configered installer/rar file. Or at least a guide that isn't inaccurate/incomplete in parts and causes me to break the damn thing. :(
- rogersmj, on 10/11/2007, -5/+39That's just great. 45 Diggs and the server's dead, and Duggmirror didn't get the screenshots. What are people running their web sites on these days? Old Gateway laptops with a 56k modem?
- PacoDEmu, on 10/27/2007, -1/+34Either that or the hamster fell off its wheel...
- sparsely, on 10/27/2007, -1/+28Never liked the full-size window layouts. Of course, I don't like to look at my audio player, I like to listen to it.
I know, odd, right? - vsthesquares, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20http://users.telenet.be/vsthesquares/fofr-fb2k-code-release-v0.9.zip
Will last forever. Give me a minute to upload though. - fofr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19http://www.rhbr33526.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/uploads/fofr-fb2k-code-release-v0.9.zip
Not sure how long this will last, get it and mirror while you can. - Phssthpok, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21It's Dead Jim.
- Flinty, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Anyone got a guide on installing?
- zeosan, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19After a long and nervous wait, FofR finally let loose his brand new version of the ever so famous configuration, and all I can say is: "wow".
This new version brings so much more greatness to what already has been; wallpapers, themes, new method of browsing, etc. etc. And it's full of little, but useful tweaks, like the search button for playing artist in Wikipedia, last.fm and Google Video.
So the only question: When is the next one coming out?!? :) - kafitz22, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13All packages accumulated for digg users convenience and the author's dismay: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9DQQ4C7Z
Thanks to Digg's new system, my other mirror is hard to find: http://216.239.51.104/search?q=cache:zJDKvn2jFE8J:www.fooblog2000.com/fofr-configuration-guide/+fofr+install&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us&client=firefox-a
EDIT: Damn it stigma. >_ - andreusboy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14 6. Thou shalt not digg an item without opening the link and reading the article first
- dmobley, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13oh digg, what site won't you destroy?
I can't wait to download this sometime next week, it looks great! - kidcodea, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11it runs in the family then eh?
- ergalvin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11you said alot more than "wow".
- Flinty, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Mirror > http://frylock.trailerbunk.com/temp/fofr-fb2k-code-release-v0.9.zip
- aynrandom, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14Because distributing a pre-configured version of foobar would violate the foobar terms of service.
- spyrochaete, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13Thanks for the images.
YUCK!!!! These skins turn Foobar into the programs I was trying to simplify! It's attractive but way too garish. I'm glad Foobar gives us the choice between the tiny ugly regular skin and additional sexy skins, but I'll always choose the former. - Juroujin, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10link: http://www.foobar2000.org/
Foobar2000 is the best alternative to Winamp and iTunes - fofr, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10Two guides:
One for this configuration: http://www.fooblog2000.com/fofr-configuration-guide
One for foobar2000: http://www.fooblog2000.com/getting-started-with-foobar2000
Though you may have to wait for the server to recover. - HerbSolo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8actually foobar has about everything you can think of, but you'll have to configure it youself, it's kinda the linux of media-players.
- jamesburton1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7It's life Jim but not as we know it.
- mdp8889, on 10/11/2007, -7/+13Foobar2000 is the sex
- Bossman1086, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Hmm...can't get it to work. Moved all the DLLs over to the right places, and in Preferences, Foobar2000 recognizes them there, but it looks nothing like those screens (and I did choose the PanelsUI at startup). Ah well.
- sephiroth965, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5eww, it looks like WMP10
- Breepee, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Worth nothing unless I can unzip and run as is. Foobar's configuration is way, way too tedious.
- deviationer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6looks like overall but other than that it's *****. Winamp and Zoomplayer works for everything I need. I don't need some special ***** that tells me about the artist/album/art works etc..
Also ***** itunes :) - jeffeb3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6no, no, and no. iTunes is horrible. If you think foobar is difficult to customize, try customizing iTunes. You can't. I can understand people saying that the iPod or iPhone look good, but iTunes? It's not pretty, and finding music isn't all that fast. Not to add more coals to the fire, but if you want a quick and dirty, easy to use program, at least use winamp. I think winamp wins the race when you are trying to find music. try pushing the j key.
also, windows media player is not "quite an achievement in itself"
Also way more than 1% of all users will modify the standard configuration. - chetanthaker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6The site is facing the Digg Effect :) -- Can someone pass on a mirror ?? :)
- spyrochaete, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I second that. I didn't think Foobar was anything special at first, but before long I found that it supported every single codec I threw at it out of the box. I only started loving it more and more after that!
- sparsely, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Did you go into Preferences and select the Layout from the drop-down menu?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5iTunes isn't just horrible, it's a piece of *****.
- Jugalator, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Ooh, foobar, here I come! *fap fap fap*
- Sal4, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Ah... I see. Well, I tried to configure it, and it sort of works. It crashed three times already though in the roughly 30 minutes that I've tried using it. It's not as user friendly as iTunes either. At least, I find it confusing. I love the design though, they're right it *is* beautiful. Can't really use it over iTunes though, it keeps crashing and it's confusing to me. Great effort though. :)
- Crazymaniacc, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Even the guide is hard, they start with saying you have to include all your music, but there is no .exe file!! FFS just make an .exe file that does all this crap for you
- homeagain1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Yes, it does. Go to preferences > keyboard shortcuts. Then add the hot key of your wish (or modify an existing one) and check global hot key.
- galaxie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3yes sir it does
- krusher, on 10/11/2007, -7/+10Nice GUI, but not useful
- vsthesquares, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Beirut & SY. Obviously Foobar users are music enthousiasts.
- aynrandom, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3It looks like he/she borrowed a lot of ideas from CepiPerez's panelsUI configuration. I won't deny that it looks good, but most of the panelsUI configurations I've seen aren't nearly as usable/functional as columnsUI configurations, especially with playlist handling. I guess it depends on how much emphasis you want to put on eye candy.
- madscientist327, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Beautiful. Just beautiful. An awesome configuration for an awesome audio player.
- epohs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Those are gorgeous
- Miche1987, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Dugg for pun.
- bajesus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Quick question. Is there a way to get a scrub bar on this interface?
- djhworld, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I dabbled in foobar2000 a few months ago, getting quite excited about it and how it worked.
However it became apparent after a while that it's more something "to look at" rather than an actual music player. Little things started to annoy me, such as graphical glitches or the laborious task of having to add album art for each and every album.
While I applaud the developers for making such a top job, I still feel iTunes is the only music player for me. - MauriceEscargot, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4to be honest: i didn't use it, neither did i even download it. but looking at the screenshots, i gotta say, that i prefer Cepiperez's Dark config (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=53703), which i've been using for some time now. imo it looks better.
- fed359, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3foobar2000 is very minimalist by default, and the end user has the joys (or horrors!) of customizing the player to their liking. I suggest you try might try foobar2000 with columnsui (a more basic gui), it can be made to look quite similar to the 1by1 player's interface, and also has a very similar memory footprint. Also if you do end up messing around a bit with foobar, make sure you check out some of the DSP and output plugins, that's the real selling point of foobar in my opinion.
- crazybrit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3lol, and people say Linux is hard. I have no idea how to install this, and figuring out how to would probably take longer than just installing Ubuntu and Amarok and using a decent media player.
- sparsely, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3If you're referring to the media library component, just go to Preferences > Media Library, add you folder(s), and click 'Scan All'.
If that's not what you mean then well, I dunno what you want an executable to do. - Gogogo111, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Digg me down if you want people, but this is why I don't use foobar. Too much ***** to configure just to get working that will probably break. Give me Winamp or iTunes any day.
